Great! That should save me a lot of work. I'll get started on the any % run then.

Well, to collect all the Bomb/arrow upgrades takes very long time, and it's not fun to watch either... That's the reason why it is skipped in the 100% speedrun. But you do as you want. I'm looking forward to it:).

Actually I'm working on an improvement over Flag's run now, Tompa. Erokky, I'll post a WIP once I get to Zelda which should be in a few hours to a day.

All the best. You should know that there is a high expectation for this run. Get 'em, cowboy.

I'm curious, what was it that you missed? Your WIP is so hard to match. It's taking me longer than I thought but I should get to Zelda by tomorrow. So far I'm only 1 frame ahead of you.

This is the same problem I had. Flag managed to beat my run by 24 frames, and I couldn't even fathom how that much time could be saved, despite how much effort I put into my run. You need to be creative, stop peeking at flag's run or my WIP, and invent new (and quicker) ways to complete a room by yourself. You say you're ahead of me by a single frame, I believe you're only so because you peek at my run. I believe that if I didn't post my WIP, you would have been far behind me. And my guess is that you saved it in the first room of Hyrule Castle, let me know if I'm wrong on this. I played through my run constantly looking at flag's run, this is the biggest mistake. I assumed that he had already discovered the quickest ways to finish a room, and that all that was required was to give more precise movement. For the record, flag's WIP beats my WIP up to Zelda, by 24 frames. What's surprising is, that my run (up to Zelda) can be improved up to a whole second. I won't tell you where you can save time, flag didn't tell me where I could save the time. I couldn't find these things, I lacked the creativity to explore newer ways, and I gave up.

Actually I gained it outside the castle, probably from slashing the last bush as opposed to charging the sword. I'm going to need more than just creativity to perfect this run. I'm going to need to be aware of all the tricks people know of. Doing a run by myself without getting tips is a sure way of missing something.

What kind of childish behaviour is this? What about teaming up to get the best possible result?

Indeed, here is flag's run up to where he stopped. It includes a few extra tricks that erokky didn't know about. And honestly, I could only figure out one out before he gave me hints.
Build a man a fire, warm him for a day, Set a man on fire, warm him for the rest of his life.

I finally made it up to Zelda. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1826/up_to_Zelda.smv Thanks Omni. Now to see what I missed by watching what Flag does. Edit: Ha Ha very impressive. I never would've thought of that. Maybe Flag should be the one that does an improved run.

I wholeheartedly agree with spockybiemmichab. Either work together, or dezbeast continues with his run, -''- erokky or Flagitious suddenly decides to improve his own run.

Since I stopped, I have discovered way too many new things to say "I give up". So I am restarting again. Please forgive my asshole attitude, I'm always an asshole, but it's never intentional. Now I imagine you'd either go into a 100% TAS (which I'm happy to help you plan out a route for), or continue for a fastest time completion. No matter what you decide to do, I plan to obsolete the existing run on this site. Hit me back.

Well I didn't take your post that way. I actually understood your reasoning about trying different things on your own. Alright then. I will be beginning the 100% run.

Personally, I think it's much more effective to look at previous people's work than to completely reinvent the wheel.

Hmm, well for starters, what do you suggest to collect? I'm leaning toward not getting the bomb or arrow upgrades. And not maxing out rupies. Someone posted on this forum about having to collect from all treasure chests. But I don't see any reason to. However I don't want to put all this work into this just to have it rejected just because it doesn't meet the judges requirements for 100%.

I think 100% should be as said before: all heart pieces, all inventory items, and maxed out equipment, skipping of course the blue mail and red shield if it's faster to do so. The only question I have is do the bomb and arrow upgrades need to be gotten for 100%? They add nothing to the entertainment or speed of the run, but you cannot take them away again... Oh, and I agree, there should be no need to max out your rupees; only get as many as you need.
<Zurreco> if so called professional players cant adapt to every playing field, theyre obviously not that great

It would really suck to take the bomb/arrow upgrades. You need a total of 1,400 rupees for that. A total for the whole game, including the flippers, monkey and sword would be 2,020. It will take some time to get all those money... I say: don't care about the upgrades.

Well, it only requires two visits to get them all. I say get them. If nothing else, seeing you manipulate that many rupees should be interesting.

Well, 2 to 1 so far for not getting them. I'm going to have to wait for more responses before I start this thing. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I look at it this way: 1) Because it can be split up into two parts it's no trouble to fast forward through it. 2) It complicates the route planning, which is always a plus for me.

[x] No upgrades. It always annoyed me, that I wasn't able to "buy" more than one upgrade at the same time. If this was possible, I'd say get them, but it isn't. This is just a boring time waster!

If you're going for a 100% run. IN MY OPINION: it is best to skip the boomerang at the start, and get the red one later on in the Village of Outcasts. I havn't tested it, so I am not sure, but if you look at it: 120 frames for the boomerang (some lost frames from now until after the 4th dungeon due to no boomerang) The boomerang can't collect keys and rupees, but if you want to hit from a distance, you could use arrows, which would require further arrow planning, but it's all for the best. Get the Red Boomerang right after crystal4. In turn, you can avoid the fairy, on your way to the flippers, which requires you to enter, go through text, throw item, wait for fairy to appear, and you know the rest. Not having the boomerang for half the game could actually cause more lose of time though, so it's hard to tell unless someone actually tests this properly. I've forgotten where all the heart pieces are. But I can't wait until you advance further into the game, because I'm really excited on planning a route for this.

I'm curious about what these new tricks are.
