Have you got a basic overworld route planned out yet for the 100% run? I'm in the planning stages for my 100% console run so I'd like to compare my route to the TAS route to see if there's common improvements that can be made. If you like I could post my route. It'll take a while to type up so I won't do it right now.

Is your route going to be any where similar to one the one on Speed Demos Archive? Because mine will be quite different since I will be using save+quits quite a bit. And I will also be using the levitation glitch. Also note that I skipped the blue boomerang to get the red one later on in the Village of Outcasts.

Ah, I forgot that the TASers usually allow save quits. I doubt your route will be similar to mine but I'll give the basic outline of the Dark World, as the Light World is similar to the pure speed run but with a few pieces of heart collected: - Palace of Darkness Big item collection (flippers, heart piece minigames, 2 bottles, quake, ice rod etc) - Thieve's Town More items (another bottle, bombos) - Swamp Palace Finish off most of the items (more hearts, last bottle, magic cape, cane of byrna, ether) - Misery Mire (and hearts around this area) - Skull Woods - Ice Palace (followed by Super Bomb) - Turtle Rock -Ganon's Tower

Madzombie, how are you going to get the flippers before Thieves' Hideout? You're going to need the 300 rupee chest in the Village of Outcasts. Also, to collect the other items, you're gonna need the Flute + Falcon, which of course, is best to get just before doing Thieves' Hideout.

There is a 300 rupee chest in a cave southeast of the big bomb shop. It takes about 10 seconds longer than simply getting the usual chest in village of outcasts. What I do is, after getting the bird as normal, I get the piece of heart in the light world equivilent of Blind's Hideout, then as soon as I get outside I warp to Link's House and go and collect the magic powder, quake, flippers, Zora's river heart, red boomerang and ice rod, then fly back to Kakariko and continue. The reason this works well is because I now have Magic Powder, so can get the 1/2 magic upgrade at the same time as picking up the third sword after Thieve's Town. If I left getting the powder til after thieve's town I'd need to use the Forest warp point again, as I would overwrite any magic mirror warp points I created when I went to collect quake etc. I've tried this out and it does seems to work efficiently.

@MadZombie/100% TASer In a 100% console run, are you going to perform the "warp" glitch so you can get that cloak device/cape early? I don't think the device will be particularly useful, as it consumes MP like a bitch, but it's a point of interest. I have no idea if it is faster. @MadZombie Only Oh yeah, is your 100% run single segment? If not, Radix will definitely allow save/quit warping, as long as each new segment starts at a new save/quit point. He also allows deathwarping now, I think... But you probably know that.

If it turns out that the route of the warp glitch is quicker than the route using the pegasus boots, than I'll be doing that. But please ellaborate. Do I have to be in the grave yard to perform that glitch? If so than it's probbly better to wait.

I'm not sure of the specifics of the glitch, unfortunately. I haven't played Alttp for about 3 years :(, let alone pull off the glitch. However, some bedtime reading might be helpful: "Aquire Invisibility Cape Early There is a way to get the Magic Cape right after you get the Hammer in the Palace of Darkness(Dark World's 1st dungeon). In the graveyard in the Light World you'll notice there are dark colored rocks with the number 8 on the them surrounding a tombstone, but if you go to the same place in the dark world you can cut down a flower and dash into a pile of rocks that usually reveals a red ruby(worth 20 rubies). In this place you need to use your Magic Mirror north of the rock pile. If you've done this right you can circumvent the dark colored rocks in the Light World. Note: You need to use the Magic Transprter between the Kakariko Village and the Lost Woods to reach this location. " Hope that helps.

It's about time someone decided to do a 100% run for a Zelda Game. I was hoping the first would be for this game though, because it is basically the first Zelda Game I ever owned, and beat. :3 Dreams do come true! xD Hopefully more 100% runs for the series will follow. ^^ I wish you luck!

Ok, so there's no way to get it until I at least have the hammer. I'll go ahead and see if it's quicker to get the cape early.

Yeah I'm putting a lot of effort in this, and with Erokky's help I think you'll be pleased with the result. Unfortunately, quality takes time and it may take me over 6 months to complete.

Mine will be single segment. Is the glitch you're refferring to the Death Mountain Descent glitch? If so then I won't be using that. If you're meaning another glitch then I don't know about it so could you tell me? I will be using the magic cape for the boss of Misery Mire. As it's a console run it is near impossible to efficiently kill the eyes with spin attacks unless you do not have damage to worry about, as you can go much closer into the slime and hit many of them with each slash. I may also use it for Kholdstare, as it's much easier to get the 3 fuzzy things locked into a corner when you don't get hurt by the falling ice blocks.

I don't think it's the death mountain descent glitch. I described it in one of my earlier posts. Here is an abridged description: "Get the Magic Cape early: At any point after you first get to the dark world, go to the Cemetary. Use the Magic Mirror to warp around near the tombstone that has the Magic Cape under it, and you can find your way into that little space. Dash into the headstone, traverse the cave, and get the Magic Cape! " Here is a more descriptive version: "Acquiring the Magic Cape "Early" The Magic Cape is a super-useful (but often over-looked) item in this game which gives Link complete invincibility when worn. It eats away big time at your magic meter, but other than that, all is practically well. Usually, to get it, you'd have to wait until after you get the Titan's Mitt, but not if you know what to do! You can get it after acquiring the Hookshot in the Dark World. Once you do, do this. Go to the broken bridge that leads perfectly horizontal over the river to the south of where the Witch's Hut would be in the Dark World. Use the skull pots on the other side to grapple over, and then go to the locations of the graveyard in the Dark World. Work your way into the extreme right-hand corner of the Dark World graveyard site, and then use your Magic Mirror to warp back to the Light World. If done correctly, you'll be in a surrounded area with the righthand-most grave in the Light World's graveyard, surrounded by dark green stones that can only be moved with the Titan's Mitt. From here, go in front of the gravestone and dash into it with the Pegasus Shoes. It'll open up revealing a staircase leading down. At the end of the pathway here is a treasure chest, in which is the Magic Cape!" Sorry for no paragraph formats :(.

*left I did this a long time ago, never really thought it could be useful as I only really used the cape for getting that one heart piece piece behind the bumper.
<Zurreco> if so called professional players cant adapt to every playing field, theyre obviously not that great

Ah, well in that case I'm afraid it would be no use to me. I collect the cape on a large item collection spree after Swamp Palace, where I basicly do an anticlockwise circle from swamp palace, to lake hylia, to that northern section with the grave yard, then finally ending up at the lumberjack's house. It would be a pointless detour for me to pick the cape up early.

Wicked WIP crikey man! Especially loved your boss fight and the fact that you maintained your speed throughout your whole WIP. Excellent work, keep it up.

That WIP was awesome! I loved the last few rooms, and how you completely annihilated all the enemies. The boss fight was jaw dropping, and I loved the damage boosts! I'm looking extremely forward to the finished run! :D

Great job! But man, 40,000 re-records for 10 minutes? At that rate you'll break the 300,000 mark easily. I just hope you don't give up again if you miss other things. Because I really want to see an improvement over the published run. So far I'm a couple of rooms into the Eastern Palace. I estimated that i lost over 100 frames by not having the boomerang so far. I'm not including the time it would've taken getting it from the chest. If so, I'd still be ahead from not getting it, but not by much.

I may be wrong but you shouldn't lose that many frames, even without the boomerang. The only place I could see you losing this many frames, is the room with the rat and the key (still in Hyrule Castle) For the blue knight and the mini boss, you can hit your target towards the door/cell and should lose no more than 15 frames to collect the keys. For the Eastern Palace, an educated guess says that you should lose no more than 30 frames, and this is in the dark room with the key under a pot. You should be able to collect rupees/arrows from the following things without any time loss: Octorok at the Statue you need to wait for (since you don't have the boomerang, manipulate it to be in front of you so you can collect it on your way through) Skeleton room: kill both skeletons and make sure they drop items, don't worry about picking them up. Two rooms before the Big Key, there is a monster you must kill to reach the switch, make sure this drops something. On your way back, you should consider going up instead of down, since you don't have the boomerang to collect the rupee from the second monster, though I'm not sure if you can pass those spinning fire things. OPTIONAL: In the second dark room, since you don't have the boomerang, use the pot you just picked up and kill a skeleton as you're waiting to pick up the key. Big Key room, throw the pot against the monster to make it drop a rupee (be it blue or red depending on what you did two rooms back) Room after Bow, you should make as many monsters drop rupees as possible. If you didn't get a red in the big key room, get it here, as well as a blue. Killing the second cyclops is the best option as you need to wait for the key to drop, though picking up the arrows is entirely optional. You should have enough arrows regardless, for the upcoming boss and the Llanmolas. Note: there is a room to the right which holds 100 rupees on the ground. Since you need a lot more of rupees than I do, consider this room, but personally, I think this room isn't worth it. Two rooms before the boss, there are two skeletons. Depending on if you did the OPTIONAL I said earlier, kill the skeletons in an appropriate order so that you will get the arrow drop. Final room: try to get at least another red rupee here. Now that I've thought deeply into a run without the boomerang for half the way, you don't lose as much time as I've expected. Though, I do see a few seconds lost in the Tower of Hera and Hyrule Castle part 2, but that would be it, until the end of Thieves' Hideout. Also, thanks for fragitious for bringing this up earlier. I have small doubt that the magic boomerang chest you will get, is the only chest of it's kind. You should do some exploring to see if there are any other chests that may give also give a magic boomerang.
