You can jump down in the middle and sometimes the big ball doesn't roll. But I guess you got unlucky. You tried the Dark World yet?

I'm taking a couple days off of this game to ease the mental strain. Then, I'll start this weekend by planning the routes within the Dark World dungeons screen-by-screen, then I'll practise running through them individually. I'm sure there are still some undiscovered tricks, so I'll do some experimenting as well. I haven't tested the general route in full detail as of yet, but I'll have a good idea by the time I run through the entire Dark World a few more times.

Are the ZMV files available for these movies? Having those available would somewhat decrease the bandwidth consumed.

Didn't use them, they kept breaking after 5 minutes so I gave them up. I changed my mind about publishing a movie at some point, because I wanted to wait until I did a run of the whole game, so bandwidth wasn't on my mind. But once I had the avi of a decent run, I decided to go ahead with the publishing anyway.

I just checked on TG and so far my Light World time is faster than the current world record for this game!

I've been thinking about routes for this game and I have some ideas for improvement. I'll post them later. Edit: I'm going to start typing up a route now. Edit 2: I just looked at the map more carefully, and also at Deviance requirement list, and I noticed that the ideas I came up with won't work, sorry about that.

I was thinking of a route that changed the order of getting the Ice Rod, but it turned out to be equally fast as the current route. What did your route involve?

Actually, I just noticed that I misread your list, and one of my ideas might actually work. My idea was to do turtle rock immediately after getting the ether medallion, so you don't have to go to death mountain twice. Since you wouldn't have the cane of somaria yet, you would need to get the magic powder, so I'm not sure if the time saved is more or less than the time lost.

You'd have to compare this: Time it takes to go from Warp Point 1 until entering Turtle Rock Time it takes to get Magic Mushroom, Get Magic Powder, and go from Ether Tablet to Turtle Rock Let me know. If you can get magic Powder as its faster, then getting the double Magic, which is on the Tempered Sword route, is very beneficial.

Mushroom Master Sword Hyrule Castle 2 Palace of Darkness Get Flute Thieves’ Town 300 rupee house Get Bird Warp Warp to 2 Get Magic Powder Tempered Sword Double Magic Skull Woods Warp to Link’s House and go to Hyrule Castle Get Quake Warp to Light World Get Zora’s Flippers Ice Rod Cave Warp to Death Mountain to get Ether Turtle Rock Something like this?

Yeah, getting the Mushroom is on the way, and the Witch's Hut is like RIGHT AT Warp 2 - BUT here is the thing. Activating the Magic Powder... I forget how, but I always was in the Dark World, and warped ot Light - gave mushroom, warped back to Dark, warped to Light, got Powder. This way - you must figure out how to make the powder come without warping. Maybe Bird Warping again to 2 will do the trick?

takes about a 75 seconds to get from 1 to touching the warp tile. Takes about 25 seconds to get to the warp tile from where you get the Ether Medallion. 75-25=50 seconds. Getting the mushroom, giving it to the witch, getting the powder, and then the double magic should take less than 50 seconds otherwise it won't work. I'm just estimating of course, I'll play it out to get more accurate times.

Simply walking off the screen that the Witch's Hut is on should activate the Magic Powder. Though there is the amount of time saved by going to Ganon's Tower directly upon completing Turtle Rock.

good point Bladegash, this route doesn't work because you'll have to go back to death mountain anyway to reach Ganon's Tower when you have all the crystals.

For Turtle Rock, the Magic Powder can be used as an alternative to the Cane of Somaria.

I tried it on ZSNES today, and to my surprise, here were the results I captured straight from the game: I was pretty sure it would work, yet it failed to do so when I tried; heh, looks like Magic Powder routes are out of the question.

If anyone hasn't voted for ALttP yet at GameFAQs, go vote now. The match is very close so ALttP needs all the votes it can get.

How could you do such a thing? Isn't voting for Chrono Trigger instead of ALttP a sin? God is gonna be mad at you. Not only that, but I'm also Gannon-banning you. If you don't want to be Gannon=banned (which would happen if you do a second offense), I recommend you hurry up and read these rules before you make more of a fool of yourself. http://www.gannon-banned.com/gbrules.htm

Not voting for a Zelda game constitues Gannon-ban? I didn't see it in the rules.

Maybe not according to the rules TSA listed, but I'm Gannon-banning him anyway.
