hmm I thought all stopped jiggies halted you but indeed the one on top of the anthill acts funny. Perhaps because you were never intended to be banjo when collecting it? Who knows.
It's been a week so I'm making a new reply rather than editing.
This is probably one of my favorite N64 titles, and I'm thinking of maybe doing an Any% run. I know the goals are ridiculously similar to what Sami is doing. Should I bother with it? Would anyone be there to spot mistakes? Would I go through getting the minimum amount of stuff needed to get to the credits normally, or should sandcastle cheats be used?

I think this is in the same boat as Conker's Bad Fur day, where 100% makes more sense because any% is just too similar and you have to collect most of everything.
I can estimate a around 15 - 20 minutes can be saved from not getting any extra honeycomb pieces (remember that one all the way inside Gnawty's lair in CCW's winter), and the 6 most out-of-the-way puzzle pieces can be skipped which could save another 10 minutes or more, I guess.
I dunno, I like watching TASes but I want to do something and this is the game I know the mechanics of the best.

well there really is nothing that physically prevents you from doing so. if you have a big desire to TAS this game and feel like there will be enough of a difference, that's reason enough to do so. more banjo can't hurt, right?
I was going to mention Banjo Tooie as an alternate, but the whole "can't complete the game in mupen" thing kinda reared it's ugly ass....
I say go for it. I agree, an any% could save at least 30 minutes, and would require a lot of planning to beat the game with bare minimum requirements using different routes.
I wouldn't compare it the "Bad Fur Day", since that game has only one real collectible, while B-K has much more and takes longer to finish. And the 100% run will have that extra ending.
I'm not sure whether you should use the sandcastle cheats, though. I'd kind of prefer it if you didn't
I think a Any% Run will be great to have along side the 100% run that Sami is doing. ^.^
This is one of the greatest games ever made, and it deserves to have both. :3
If memory serves right, you need 6-8 Jiggies and 80-90 Notes per stage, correct? Maybe less Notes. :3
I think it's a great idea. :3

Well at least we know for sure the ant in level 1 can be skipped, although it's been a while since I've played through this game. The bee and pumpkin I believe are a necessity, but I don't remember enough about the others.
bkDJ go for it! ;) I really want see any% run of this. My TAS going really well. Just open Clacker's lock :P Next thing is get blue Jinjo and go inside Clanker.
Glad that there is some support.
Well, I would hope that the bee's jiggies (I think there are 3? one outside the level, one in that room way up high... and the jinjo jiggy for ccw since one is in the beehive. Or not, my memory on that level is rusty.) and a few others would not be needed. That would mean only 45 mumbo tokens would be needed.
...but that's far down the road.
I'm thining I should milk level one for all it's worth (including the mumbo token Sami skipped), except for the 4 notes inside mumbo's hut, and the 2 extra honey comb pieces. Comments?

It certainly is the most compact and goodie-dense level, so I think that's a good idea, especially with notes, so you don't have to go out of your way later on in the game for the 3 or 4 notes you may have skipped in the beginning. Oh, and about the bee, I wasn't even thinking about whether the puzzle pieces would be needed at that point, since it is so far along in the game. Considering that the transformations are, in general, only used for one or two pieces, would you even need to transform at all during this run? I'll have to replay this over the next week or so in order to be a little bit more helpful (I played it a ton back in the day), but it's been too long for me to remember the exact numbers and routes. But I certainly think an any% would be a great addition.
Now I'm thinking that the bee should stay since that'll leave the rest of MMM and RBB to collect a few more tokens, and maybe the alligator, walrus or pumpkin can be skipped. ... actually I don't think the pumpkin can be skipped if I'm not using sandcastle cheats due to the lair water level. Or is there a way into RBB that doesn't need water switches activated?
Anyway, all that is much much much later. For now: Spiral mountain done in 0:52. I'll post a wip when I'm done with Mumbo's Mountain (not soon).

I'll try and help you with the route once you get a little farther, but school is kicking my ass right now and I have stress coming out of my ears. But I'm glad you've decided to do it, I think the two runs will compliment each other nicely.
I honestly can't tell if it's faster to use the feathery flap boost, or the speed of rolling as often as I do. I THINK my way is faster but tests don't give consistent results. All I know is that it's important to get kazooie out at least a tiny bit since banjo loses speed after landing from a normal jump. If you'd like to see if there's a difference, be my guest. If not, then at least Sami and I will have different styles during the non talon-trot parts.
Anyway, for MM, I hope to find a good frame within 6 seconds of when I first arrive at the MM entrance to get both conga jiggies to intersect. I also hope I can use the water glitch I posted about before to get the final jiggy to save time on the two dances. Other than that though, business as usual.
