I know SDA has smash melee records, which in my opinion is a vast improvement over the first(while the first was still amazing), and is one of my favorite games. I don't think the first was popular enough.

would this be per level? Because I'm not sure how to find the total time from link to master hand.

How would the times be recorded for single? Each level or all the way through? And in time units or real time?

Well, I found what looks to be the world records for Break the Targets and Board the Platforms http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Stadium/3316/SuperSmashBrosPlat.html http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Stadium/3316/SuperSmashBrosTargets.html Absolutly slaughters my times. (no surprise) Too bad there aren't videos though :(

Vids here, many of which beat those "records" on that geocities site by a second or more: http://www45.tok2.com/home/smabrers/timeatack/movie.htm You might try the GameFAQs board for even better times.

I don't know about all of you, but I'd really like to see any kind of near-optimal 1-Player mode run. Candidates are: >Most points (>1,500,000 hopefully) >Least points (<120,000) >Quickest >Quickest All Pacifist (except for Master Hand) >Quickest All No Damage And, by the way, I think SSB is better than SSBM.

My highest score for the single-player games are all 999999999, but that's because of the continue bug.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

A couple weeks ago I was thinking about what a run would be like of this game while I was in class, heh. I think an aesthetic no-hit run of a 1v3 computers match would look better than any video of any game done as of yet.

Who is your favourite/least favourite in this game, and why? Who would be the best to make a timeattack with? My fav: Kirby. Because it's almost impossible to die with him and i feel most comfortable playing with him.. And his moves are simple and powerful! Pikachu is the funniest to play with though. Least fav: Link, I can't handle this character and his bombs and boomerang is worthless! I don't like any Zelda games either, except the one to SNES. I love Yoshi in all his other games though, but he plain sucks in this one. Timeattack with: I would vote for Kirby, because he's the one I can beat the game fastest with.

Kirby isn't very cool though. I think you should make a TAS with Mario, because it's his game. Or DK because he is "teh shit".

Jigglypuff had Rest in SSB and it worked like it did in SSBM? If so that'd the the fastest way but, unfortunately, she's an unlockable.

Then we need official SRAM with the characters unlocked! Or just use Pikachu.

Since when was Super Smash Brothers considered Mario's game? Anyways, the best of the beggining characters would be Fox.

Uhhh because he's in the upper-left corner. and because if you replace "Smash" with "Mario", you get "Super Mario Bros."

Yoshi can bring someone up to 100% damage in like 8 seconds if they're stupid enough. But it's a lot of hits for small amounts of damage. Personally I play as Falcon. One hit with the Falcon Punch can decide the game if the enemy's at least at 70% damage. For a speedrun, you'd want a character who can do lots of damage fast and has at least one powerful horizontal attack (maybe a throw). Falcon might qualify, but so might JigglyPuff. If we're stuck with the first 8 characters, I'd probably be happiest with Pikachu.

As stated earlier, Fox is the best choice of the initial 8. He has the fastest running/jumping/throwing speed, has some of the most versatile smash attacks, and his Reflector Shield is the best force-push from stand still. Also, Fox has the easiest ground and air juggles of anyone, although Yoshi's down+a in the air is a good contender.

Kirby is very imbalanced in the first game (in a good way), but he has a little trouble getting characters off the stage. However, once they're off, they aren't coming back. Donkey Kong's back throw and giant punch are simply awesome at KOing opponents early on. DK is also ridiculously fast for how big he is (mainly his grabs and throws.) Fox is fast and his drop kick is a powerful finisher. Pikachu could also be a good option with perfectly timed down Bs in the air. And btw, Link is awesome. Spamming bombs and boomerangs is great. The boomerang is even better on Melee, since it's a lot easier to hit people on the way back.
