These are games I loved from my childhood, and I think each would make a beautiful TAS. I owned all three at one point, but had to let them go for extra money one day a long time ago. Well, anyway. I would love to see a TAS for these games.

Ohh, yes! They're really greate games and propably very easy to make TAS runs of. We'll just have to wait and see if anyone wants to... =)

I don't know about 3, but 1 and 2 are very similar to the corresponding Country games. I don't know if they are direct ports, but still similar. I guess they would make good TASes anyway.

I did half a run of DKL2 a while ago, but that seems to have been lost in time. I'll give it another go sometime in the near future.

I'm astounded that you never search before posting. As you can see the reception wasn't great.

And I am surprised that you don't read further down from the VERY FIRST POST. Or you would know that the post you quoted, took place over one year ago. My most recent post has to do with 100% TASes, not normal, boring minimal runs that can be beaten through Warp Barrels. And I am aware that there is a minimal run for the third game.

These three games are some of the first video games I have ever played, and I would also like to see (100%/103%) TASes of these games.

DKL2 & 3 look like a port (since it has the same bosses & worlds), but DKL1 has new worlds and new bosses except K. Rool (but he has a diving attack or something now)

Greetings! Just to let everyone know, I finished an abstract TAS for Kongo Jungle in Donkey Kong Country (see DKC 101% new attempt in the SNES forum), and I now have an interest in TASing DKL1. Although I've never played it, I would like to know what sort of requirements there are for 100% (101%?), what glitches there are etc... because this may just take my fancy.

I think you can only get 100% by getting all the KONG letters in every level. You can freeze the Kremlings in World 2-1. First, find the area where there is a barrel and a Strong Stalker. Avoid him and pick up the barrel. Jump over the first Kremling, and onto the platform. If you are playing as Diddy Kong, the Kremlings will freeze.

Unfortunately, I just tested that (about one minute ago), and you don't need the letters, unless you're expecting to save the game, which isn't usually part of a TAS (except for reset rerecording). Anyway, that's a cool glitch. However, I was thinking more of wierd level skips like in DKC (in the first world, an unintended skip to the third world is possible). Also, the gameplay mechanics are important, as I am not completely familiar with everything, even after recently 100%ing the game. Its because I'm so used to DKC, and it's pretty different (it seems running is faster than rolling, unlike in DKC, and you can run off ledges but still jump, unlike in DKC etc.). Anyway, keep me posted! Every bit helps!

I am merely wondering if any 100% plans have gone anywhere on this.

Well, to be honest, I haven't even used the emulator since my last post! I might have started a TAS if other people were interested (ie. had replied to my last post), but it seems that isn't the case. Anyway, I may possibly renew my interest in TASing at the end of the year when I'm on my long university break... but I don't think I should make any promises...

DKL3 doesn't have Belcha. Instead they replaced him with Barbos and instead of Barbos's barrier its called Barbos Bastion. DKL2 is more of a port than DKL3. Except for the 2nd and 3rd worlds are combined into 1 world called Krem Kauldron. They also got rid of kludgel. In addition theres only 1 lost world with all the levels and it requires 47 kremcoins (the games max amount).

People get interested once you start posting WIPs, if they're good enough one of the regulars could even encode an AVI or MKV and thereby attract more interest.

I did the first 2 levels of GB Donkey Kong Land 2 (the game i got my first handheld with) and wanted to know if I am running and jumping at optimal speed. Figures that people would want a 100% run, and these two levels don't attempt this. im early enough in the run that i can just start it again without much care. here's the "TAS" http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/361104115/_DKL2_.vbm I would like to see opinions on how to improve. BTW: i changed to Dixie at the beginning of the second level to see the differences in playing style. I still don't know if Dixie's floating is faster or same or slower than running around normally. i don't think dixie would be much use unless you had to do some climbing beforehand and could float back down, or if you were going for bonus level cannons. Knowing how good I am at completing stuff, I don't think i'd be the one to finish a run of this. so I express my interest to see the first game I have ever played being TASed.

Oh man, has it been five months since I last touched my old 100% TAS? I REALLY need to get back to work on that. You can go on ahead and do your any% run, I don't know how long it'll take me to get back at my TAS. I actually made it all the way to maybe the third to last level of the game!

I was wondering where you got to! I actually contemplated just finishing it myself (from the most recent WIP) and listing you as the author, but thought that was a poor idea if I didn't get your permission first. If you don't anticipate completing it in a hurry, would you mind? I could probably have it whipped up in a few days, now that uni's just finished for me.

Sorry about the long wait. You can do it if you like. I'll get it on Microstorage in a minute. EDIT: Ok, here you go. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1191536487/Donkeykongland2-100percent-legoking831.vbm
