I was fiddling around with Sega CD during the weekend but coulden't get it to work. I tried both the official gens version and gens movie test 9f. I have downloaded the proper bioses from Zophar (atleast I think they are proper), and added them in gens under options -> bios/misc or what ever it's called. Then I try to open rom and load a sega cd iso. Then a popup appears telling me that I need to configure my bios. How do I do that? I find no options besides the dir change thingie. Also.. My machine can't find a sega cd. It said "No cd-rom drive located" or something like that. I tried this on a windows machine BTW! Has anyone tried getting this thing running, and did it work well? What did I do wrong? I tried to read the gens help file, but I didn't get much wizer from that either.

I don't know what are those bioses from Zophar but I have some doubt they work properly. Plus, you need to install some ASPI drivers.

I never tried to properly install the ASPI. But with most other programs I have used it would be enough to just place the wnasp32.dll file in the same dir as the exe file to get it working. Those bioses BTW do have the same name as the ones gens searches for.

Anyway, go to Option then Bios/Misc files. Your answer is there. Otherwise, the bios is no good. It's not Zophar's policies to publish illegal ROMs or BIOSes.

good luck trying to make a sega cd movie using gens. not even doing it in one sitting will help you, since the savestates dont actually save everything that was happening at the time. try it in say sonic cd (which would be a great TAS imo). savestate in any level, then proceed to the next one or an earlier one and you'll notice it just plain dont work. it sucks, but that's how it is.

From what I've heard gens is still the best emulator for sega cd.

Do you know if the Gens team have any plans on fixing this?

it seems the upcoming version of gens has been delayed to an uncertain future. so no sega cd, no sms, no gg TAS until someday ~~ unless a nice coder from the forums kindly has a look a it :)

When I tried using save states in Sonic CD a long time back, it would only work if the same audio track was playing. With this in mind, it might be possible with some effort, as long as every time you initially load the movie you always fast forward to the level/time period that you were on.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.
