when the game loads something (new screen or level), there are frames that take longer than 0.016 seconds (duration of 1 frame). This frame gets recorded as 1 normal frame in the AVI but the audio keeps running, so that's why there are audio desyncs. To fix this, you need to insert frames manually, or cut the audio here and there. I used to time-stretch the audio but it's not a good solution, really...

Perhaps, but it ends up being close enough to not really be noticable, and unlike manually fixing it every single time a new area is loaded, it only takes a few seconds.

I've never had his problem with the audio dump, unless it's something that onnly happens in SSBM

I downloaded dsp_rom.bin and dsp_coef.bin so I was able to choose LLE, forgot to mention it earlier. I was fooling around yesterday and did some multishines, weridly I wasn't able to do it constantly with Fox. However with Falco it was easy. Everytime I tried with Fox it didn't stay in the ground. Well this isn't really an issue, was just odd..

I had to insert black or white screens for about a third or half of a second for most loading screens in my Paper Mario: TTYD Prologue encode. After some loading screens (which is basically any time the screen fades to black or white, or black bars appear on the top and bottom of the screen [cutscene]), the video would be behind by more than 2 seconds, and since the audio is running at normal speed already, I just made the loading screens as long as they are displayed for on the emulator or the console.

That will definitely help. TASing syncs much better on LLE.

Imagine you have to audio stretch audio over a 4 minute video... It can get noticeable easily, and, at least with avisynth, I had to put much effort into cutting audio portions and stretching it properly (with one of my videos)... Adding 60 frames here and there and be done with it just sounds more practical.

When I start recording and I choose random CPUs they're Zelda and Roy but when I play the recording they are Yoshi and Bowser. Wut?

That won't make any difference, tas-input is the same as more-save-fixes, except it has an improved tas input. I'd double check your settings, and then record it again; you got a desync.

Did a 1v2 team match TAS but I got the same problem again. -_- I had the default folder for saving recordings still set to the more-save-fixes revision, apparently that's what screwed things up. Now I changed the save folder and did many tests and the CPUs were always the same when playing the recording. I spent so many hours on this and finished nothing. So nice. Edit. So yeah I can go to the match with correct characters by loading a state but I only used 8 slots and they contain the very end of the match.

Which version of the game do Melee TASers use? I own 1.02, and if that's the wrong version, I don't need to bother dumping my disc.

Most TASers use either ntsc GALE-01 or the PAL version, because most melee TASers are PAL. To know if your file is GALE01: open dolphin right click on melee propreties info tab game ID

Thanks. My disc is GALE01. That's good, then. I can play back Melee TASes now.

Alright, i finally completed a TAS of all 51 event matches. It's not supposed to be a speedrun, just a "superplay" run through. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg6IoATvugk

Eh, speedruns of Smash Bros. games tend to be repetitive "get the enemy into the air and then spike them off the side"-fests. Personally I liked that you kept the gameplay varied. Nice work!

That was very nice. You should submit it to the site. I don't think there's any (sensible) better way to show off the variety of characters, items and other things in the game. And this one was done really well; it was generally very entertaining to watch. So yeah, I think you should submit it.

This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. Thanks guys! i definitely will submit it. only problem is, i had to use multiple movie files to prevent desyncs throughout, and I think you can only send one.

I think a TAS that completes every Event Match in WR time would be better for publication. The site lacks collections of IL-Type records. But thats just my personal preference, I always liked listing world records of all kind. Your TAS is very entertaining to watch nonetheless.
