Aglar: Do you mind sharing that route? I am curious about how it goes.

Here's the file I sent to FuzZerd: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1161557945/Sonic%20the%20Hedgehog%202%20%28JUE%29%20%5Bexclamationmark%5Dtest.gmv I was able to handle the game pretty good after CP1 but when doing EH2 I was very unused which is why I think that level can be improved by a descent amount of time. Even after CP1 (which was as far as I went) some things where unclear. If you jump and hit the ceiling you'll keep the speed you had when you hit it but sometimes when jumping of some down-slope angles you can keep your speed throughout the jump without hitting a ceiling which I never understood why. At around frame 6400 in your WIP I also didn't get why the "double-jumping" method makes you jump higher than just pushing it once.

Aglar: you are right, it was improvable. This WIP, when the boss fight is included, will be about 30 frames faster than FuzZerd's. It might be improvable even more, this was only my third attempt. Re: keeping speed on jumps: you only lose horizontal speed in a jump when your vertical speed is upward and between 0 and 1024 subpixels; if it is higher than that, if it is downward, or if you hit a ceiling before you get to that range, you won't lose horizontal speed (well, in S2 and SCD you also lose horizontal speed during a jump if you press forward while on air and above the speed limit, but I think you already know that).

thats because when you jump as soon as you hit the ground it gives you the same height as if you jumped off of flat ground, but you still get the speed from the slope. ugh, I just realized, I'll have to re-redo the CP2 boss, as well as redoing all the capsule parts. edit: also microstorage seems to be down, so I can't even download the movie yet.

@FuzZerd: I hadn't seen your edit before. I uploaded the video to my MediaFire account; here it is. edit: Microstorage seems to be back up.

You may be joking, but that may indeed be possible: FuzZerd "wastes" 2 frames between the second and third hit on the boss, and I am pretty sure it might be possible to optimize that route for at least 1 more frame; these combined would bring the time down to 0:33::59, a very high 0:33 but 0:33 still :-)

actually, since its impossible to get more then 4 hits on the first pass anyway those two frames don't matter. however upthorns version is 2 frames faster at the speedshoes then yours, so I'd only need to improve your route by 1 frame. :) also I was thinking avoiding the last jump would save a frame, but I think you're already far enough ahead of the camera for it to not matter.

He had thought about what they said long ago. Maybe I should make a movie without spindash with Tails. Tails is smaller and might pass be better on other smaller parts.

EH2 looks a lot better then before, but I think every level is still fairly unoptomized. you need to let go of forward for a bit after jumping down a slope or your speed gets capped. you don't use the left+right trick at the beginning of levels either. also I think you can pretty much imitate the new EH1 route with out spindash and save a bit of time.

Ah, I knew it was doable. I haven't used Upthorn's path to the speed shoes yet (meaning that this can be further improved by 2 frames), but I did manage to optimize the path from the speed shoes to the end by a further 17 frames; meaning we now have a more comfortable 0:33 in the level. Here is the WIP. Comment: yes, I do press forward in the air above the speed cap at frame 3352; I need this so I can make that jump at frame 3424.

so we're finished with casino night (sort of) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1560106042/S2.gmv and we managed to save 34 frames in cn1 (although the zip only saves about 12 frames over my best with out iirc) and 79 frames in CN2. however theres a bit of a problem. having tails hit the capsule of screen wastes game time. having sonic hit the capsule instead saves 8 frames (bringing the total saved in CN2 to 87 frames) but it wastes about 57 frames of real time due to the capsule being fully on screen. either way the level is finished in 47 seconds. note: the wip shown is of tails hitting the capsule, but I'm not sure I won't go back and change it to sonic. also EH2 is almost completely replayed saving 53 frames over upthorn. and about 5 frames over marzojr. the CP2 boss was replayed making it much faster paced. and all the capsule parts were re-manipulated. unfortunately poor luck on the CP2 capsule means most of the savings disappear in real time.

That was epic! Loved the glitched ending of the AR2 boss, and that zip in CN1 was a nice find. Re: CN2: if the 8 frames made the timer end at 46 seconds, I would have said to go for them; but as is, I think this small trade off could be thought of as a speed for entertainment trade-off.

That would be an ingame entertainment trade-off then, and hitting it with Sonic would be a real-time entertainment trade-off:) Nice run so far by the way! I'm not very entertained by watching Sonic zipping through levels but at least it's interesting to see how you set up each of these tricks:)

I luck manipulated the sonic capsule hit a bit, and its now only 30 frames slower then the tails hit.

I have gotten an improvement of 2 seconds in EH2 without spindash. And I believe to have an improvement of some squares in CP1.

Weve saved exactly a second in HT1. I would post a WIP here for you guys, but we are still working out some thing and trying to optimize everything. You will be surprised when you see this level. ;)

I had thought that there would be an improvement in HT1 and wanted to find a way to make an improvement. But, I will wait the improvements.

can't wait to see, guessing you found a way to zip through farther than the previous run.

I have a problem with the boss oin AR. The glitch I can only do it when the boss makes in third stroke (on the left side), and there is a long time where I do nothing. I was thinking that does not give the glitch. Why I can not do when it glitch the second stroke (right side) Without Spindash

can you get 8 hits with out spindash before he swings his hammer? if I remember correctly its when he starts swinging and not when the hammer hits that you have to hit him the last time.
