Hi there... I'm new here, and I always download those game runs. So one day, I was just playing MF, when I remembered that there's a secret message just in the part of the game that I was playing. So, I thought: "why not record that? Record the path to get there, and the message as well..." So that's what I did! But, after reading a lil more here... I noticed that to get my video posted here, I have to use a special version of the VBA... and record the movie file and not the AVI. And that's the problem! I just recorded it in AVI using the codec that this site uses... (h264 right?) The video shows, the start from the game... (loading the file and all...), starting from the closest save room (to the path of the secret message). And I doing the shinespark trick all, with no savestate... but looks like for me to prove that, I must record a movie file... and not just AVI right? So that's the problem number 1... The problem number 2 is that I don't have a ftp (server or whatever) to upload the archive (about 43,5 mbs). And that's that... What I do? Record again? There's already a file for that? Is my lil "vid-walktrough" a dumb?? later!

I don't know if "Finds a secret message" is a good enough goal for a submission... And is it really that hard to reach it again?

When I attempted to do this for the first time, it took me about 10 minutes with savestates/slowdowns, so the guy clearly is on the wrong forum. :) BTW, folks at m2k2 already have quite the same movie embedded on their site's speed tricks section, so there's no need to do that not frame-perfect at the very least.

Megafrost may do that in his run, if going that way is faster than not. He may or may not actually see the secret message, though, it'll depend on whichever way is fastest.

I doubt that way is faster. However, there is one more opportunity to see that message, check out the m2k2 site.

Don't get us wrong, just read the FAQ (and especially this paragraph) carefully to reget the concept of tool-assisted speedrunning. I believe you can still optimize your run to its full extent and try to release it as a concept demo, or you can do a full-scale TAS on this or any other game. No offence meant, anyway. You are still welcome here.

Take Megafrost's SRAM, it will save your time.

Are you really sure my SRAM would work with the japanese rom?

I have a save file to use: http://www.rpgclassics.com/~onlinelife/MetroidFusion(J).sav I played the JP Fusion awhile back because I wanted to see the Hard Mode. It's essentially the same as Zero Mission's. In order to access it, though, you have to selected a compelted normal game and choose to start over on Hard, you can't get Hard Mode if you use an empty slot, for some reason.

Don't Worry, I already finished it (save-state in recycle bin) Heh the mode choosing looks weird I keep holding down frame advance too long so vba closes, but luckily there's a continue recording button I feel sorry for The Dark Knight, Dragonfangs and Megafrost for going through 96 adam conversations, and even more for me I GOT FREAKIN' JAPANESE TEXT ah well I just got to the 1st energy tank do you think I should get another one (that's out the way) EDIT:This should probably split actually

Ah, I forgot that the hard mode was present only in japanese ROM. The problem is, P.JBoy can't submit his movie here unless it starts: a) from power-on; b) from a verifiable SRAM snapshot taken from another movie published here or some trusted well-known place. However, if he doesn't plan to submit his movie here, there's no problems.

then why is there a start from reset anyway, it's the only way to play hard mode surely they'll understand I don't know what a SRAM snapshot is so i'm going on google, but i don't see the problem when they accept certain hacks and other (J) roms Repost EDIT:ok I know what SRAM is but not a screen shot, anyways I got morph ball So what do you think EDIT:oh yeah, most people can't find a (J) rom, I'll make an .avi aswell

P.JBoy: All you need to know is that if you want a hard run mode to be published on this site, you have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the SRAM you are using is in no way corrupt or imperfect and whatnot. Basically, you'll have to prove that you didn't alter the game in any way in between the last rewrite of the .sav file.

I would go for 1 or no energy tanks. You better hope your run is impressive because I believe people are more interested in low % runs and 100% runs.

I agree with the Dark Knight. It's better if you have a few life points than if you have around less than 100 life points. I'd say no energy tank.

Provided there is a plenty of energy refillers spawning at all the convenient points of the game, I think one energy tank would be enough for all the "take damage to save time" purposes (too bad there's no damage boosting in Fusion).

Good, that's what I had in mind, and it wouldn't be right with an even number of tanks (50 energy per tank) i'll have the .avi in a half hour Repost edit:Got the .avi in 58.8mb divx or 39.1mb h246 EDIT:I redone the arachnus fight 'cause i really didn't think what i done was that good Repost edit 2:the vbm to the srx recharge room and the .avi 14.9mb h246 23.8mb divx

When should I do this atmastheric stabaliser, before of after charge beam

You actually have a choice in the matter? That said, I really don't know which would be faster. Right now I'm inclined to believe that doing it before the charge beam would be faster, but both routes should be tested.

P.JBoy, I watched the vbm and your run could use some improvement. The boss fight seems sloppy and you should do some more testing before you record.

Yeah the one part of the run i didn't use frame advance, i didn't think it was to bad, not having full health makes the ability grabable faster, hitting arachnus let me evade his sonic boom, the core-x is the only thing though EDIT:Finnaly got the timing for 2nd(Me)/3rd(Megafrost) Atmestheric stabalizer
