To an observer, the clock never enters the event horizon (though it dims quickly and red-shifts to radio, but it'd still be there) and its hands stop entirely at it's edge. This is because of gravity, not of speed. To a observer, the clock in the strongest gravitational field is the slowest. (Or wrongly calibrated....) Xebra, and you, are correct.

Actually the curvature of spacetime by a massous body is general realitivity. Special realitivity deals with inertial frames of reference exclusively. So no accelaration or gravitation.

Well, while there's a thread about it and I'm still around, I'd like to point something out about the video I mentioned in the submission thread: http://www.kraftfam.org/~erk/nesvideos/Zelda2.zip Namely, if you pause the emulator, play the movie, stop the movie, and unpause, you'll notice that the movie had no game data when I started recording it. You'll also notice (by watching the movie itself) that I start the game without entering a name because I was able to start a game from non-existant data. This was by simply pressing start early enough (there's only 1 frame you can do it). Make sure you press start at that time. I also think it'd be pretty neat to include that glitch in a final run. :)

Oh! I thought there was something else I was forgetting to mention. UP+DOWN on the elevator. It shoots you up really fast on the elevator, right? If you're holding UP+DOWN on the elevator when you go off the top of the screen, it'll take you one screen down, but only if the elevator could have gone down in the first place (otherwise it deposits you in the wall buried underneath the entrance...trapped, for all eternity...). So, for the parts of the palaces where you'd be going down a couple of rooms on the elevator, holding UP+DOWN would definately be faster. Likewise, you can hold UP+DOWN to shoot into the ceiling, normal UP to move while in the ceiling, and UP+DOWN when you're above the ceiling to go up really fast. For that, consider the entering of a palace. In fact, look at my test and compare the entrance to palace 3 with the entrance to palace 5. Prior to palace 5 I didn't have a full grasp of the UP+DOWN glitch, however comparing times now the entrance to palace 5 was 50 frames faster and the entrance to palace 3. It might be different for palace 2, though, but testing using UP+DOWN vs. not should be done. Anywho, I'm looking forward to this run, even if some people don't like seeing the game glitched this much. I'm definately interested in how fast it ultimately will be. :)

Giga, your boss fights are like porn. You should finish this run and submit it.

I'm hoping Blitzag's run will have close to that level of control. :) As for finishing my test, I could, but it's problematic. After palace 5, I'd have to go back and acquire fairy (because that was why I continued after the first palace in the first place. Once I got far enough into palace 5, I could get to palace 6 and test skipping the fairy parts, and I couldn't skip one). Also, my path is definately not optimum. As a simple example I could have done palace 1 after getting the downward stab. There's some odd level-up choices as well that were simply convenient. Plus, I really ought to finish the Rockman and Forte run. ^.^;;

Thanks a lot Gigafrost, your comment are just great. I will get your level of control, be sure, for the elevator I know that. I think I can down it to 7 minute easy, I just find a new path in the last dungeon, improve the left+right trick and more prescise attack and game play. Be sure I think when it will be finish this movie will be, well, hum GLITCHED

Also, with patience, it is possible to avoid all overworld enemies, no?

Yes I think it is possible, and I will do it clean, I try to get the Gigafrost quality (It almost impossible but I can handle it) I think in one week I can make something smooth (well smooth for a super-glitched game) and entertaining. Here how I will perform it: -Gigafrost quality in movement -45 to 60 seconds less -Use best path in the last dungeon -15 seconds less -Skip overworld ennemies -10 to 15 seconds less -Kill with more accuracy dark ling -10 to 20 second less Overall= Finish the game in less than 8 minutes

To continue the discussion in the locked submission thread, I agree with Nitsuja's comment. When use of a glitch results in the run being materially different, it should be considered a "glitched run." Also worth considering is how important to the video a particular glitch is. For example, though Giga's glitched Zelda II run is not "materially different" from a standard one (in that his aim is still to traverse all the levels and pick up all the items and complete the game in the normal fashion), his run is utterly suffused (and dependent upon) the left+right glitch, and therefore should be considered a "glitched run."

Does Bisqwit's Meggaman video count as a glitched run, then? Maybe the current one doesn't, since you could follow roughly the same path without glitches, but the new one could, since it manages to get the Magnet Beam without any weapons.

I don't think it changes the game in any radical way. If it made possible to skip some of the bosses entirely, it could be different... Rygar for example, the normal run uses all possible glitches _except_ the one that allows to get to the last fortress without collecting some of the items.
