I was thinking of doing a run of Mega Man Xtreme 2. The idea is to run through both mini-paths and then Extreme Mode. My main point here is, would it be more entertaining to get Shuryoken and Hadoken on X's path or to skip the Head part and use the "Real Ultimate Buster"? Would a run with 3 playthroughs even be entertaining at all? http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=50659 <---The WIP, in case you didn't automatically know that. I was thinking of scrapping this and starting with Zero's path, but of course that would be moot if I decided not to get the "Real Ultimate Buster" on X's path. And for Extreme Mode, should I mainly play as X, Zero, or some equal combination?

X is an unstoppable killing machine in this game, provided you DON'T pick up all of his armor. I have no idea what route or modes would be good for an attack though.

That's what I meant by "Real Ultimate Buster". Does that mean it would be better to skip the Shuryoken and Hadoken? Meaning I should start over and go through Zero's path first?

If I remember correctly (I haven't played it in a long time, I've owned it since it released) the last boss doesn't have invincibility time? So using X means it's a very quick fight. But do you collect enough Souls on the way to buy those things? So really I don't know. Anyway the only thing added in Extreme is the final level, so is it really worth it to have that playthrough and not just an X playthrough and a Zero playthrough?

That's the point of playing through Zero's path first, Souls carry over if you save at the end. [EDIT (because I don't want to double-post):] New WIP. I have officially started from Zero's path. http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=51067

It desynched... Badly. >_o What the smack? I'm using the exact same ROM, even though the filename is just "RockMan X2.GBC". It desynchs after the conversation with Zero. X ends up trying to climb the wall, but just kind of bounces around after that.
I'm not that hard to find... if you know where to look. -=( http://jolikmc.tumblr.com )=-

New WIP. I've redone the first two levels. Ends before the battle with Blast Hornet. http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=67415

That download site doesn't work for me, why don't you use that mini-uploader thing?

1. I wasn't thinking. The WIP actually does end before Overdrive Ostrich. Oops. 2. I made a huge mistake in Blast Hornet's level, so I redid everything since then. This new WIP ends at the beginning of Gareth/Berkana stage 1. (or it would if I could upload it right now.) 3. What mini-uploader thing?

I'm sure you've tested these things but.. a lot of this run looks rather sloppy, especially concerning when damage is taken and how sometimes you will miss attacks. I haven't personally tested to try and optimise it better but it seems while watching it that a lot can be improved. Maybe it's part fo the nature of the game (slightly sloppy coding and physics, though much improved from Cybermission's) that what looks sloppy is actually optimised but I think a lot can be changed to if not increase the speed at least preserve it while increasing the style. Once I'm freed of this mountain of homework (this is posted while at library writing essays due in 45 minutes) I'll do a little testing and see if I'm able to improve any of it. Probably not, but that might be more that I suck rather than that it's not improvable.

Yep, this looks REALLY bad, damage taken that looks nowhere near necessary, shots fired that made no sense, etc. Especially on the bosses you often touch the boss during an attack and take damage or run into one of his shots. Most parts of this run don't look tool assisted at all. Plus you miss opportunities for taking damage to speed things up. During Tunnel Rhino's stage you could have avoided damage earlier to have enough health at the rising flames part to just run through the fire instead of waiting for it to disappear. In Overdrive Ostrich's stage you could have taken damage from enemies to run through those fire beams while you are invulnerable.

*whistles* Ouch, there's a lot of unneeded damage taken. What speed are you playing the game at? 100%? Where are all those rerecords going? To the text scrolling? X.x

Ha ha, no, I'm not playing at 100%. I'm playing at about 15% usually, sometimes a bit slower if something is ridiculously hard. Are you saying I should start the whole thing over? Because I can do that if you really want me to.

There is something called frame advance. To use, press the \ button to advance one frame at a time. Useful for going at your own pace. Using frame advance seems slow and unproductive at first, but with experience, one will make better movies faster. You can even hold down \ to go faster than 15% would.

But you don't have to use \! You can change it! I never used \ for frame advance.

Shouldn't start over, you mean? I already started over, though, because I found about a million screwups in the first level, and I don't have a hex-editor, nor do I want to use one.

You see, I didn't know that. Even a little. Which is sad, because I own this game. Or a broken cart of it, anyway.

Shouldn't make a poor video such that someone who is bad at playing offers to show a better way through a level
