The problem I am having, is that I just downloading Medievil, and for some reason, it only plays in German or French, not sure which. The Languages are English, French, and German. But the problem is, no Language selection is available during Game Play, unless I am missing something at the very beginning. Is there a way to change the language of the rom outside of the emulator?

You can't tell between German and French? :P Is it a PAL (European) ROM? Most PAL ROMs have English, French, and German selections. If you download a U.S. NTSC ROM, it probably won't bother you about the language. Otherwise, you can fiddle around until you find it. Supposedly it would be in the manual, but you obviously don't have it.

Only if you know how to hack the SRAM. :)

I'm not very well traveled when it comes to computer stuff. ;3 Not very well traveled when it comes to languages either, but I am guessing it's more than likely German. I've tried fiddling around in every screen of the opening so far, and so far, there is nothing there.. I don't even know what an SRAM is really. :3 EDIT: And it is a PAL version.

If there are capitalized words in the middle of the sentence, then it is German.

SRAM is the ROM savefile. If you use an emulator, it should be visible somewhere.

Hmm..I've looked, but the only thing I can think of is the Memory Card File. I wouldn't know how to hack something if my life depended on it though. xD Maybe the version I downloaded just wasn't capable of changing languages..Either that, or someone messed with the file. Might have to try turning it into something else besides a BIN File.

Don't worry about the hacking thing. I was just joking. Is there a main menu of some sort? If so, could you tell me what's on the main menu? So you tried pressing every key on the controller?

On the Main Menu, it will only allow me to start a new game. There's no Options selection unless you are in game, and even then there is no Language Control. This one really has me stumped. On the rom, when loading, even says it is Europian.

If you can find the saved data and delete it, it might give you the language option again. I read somewhere that a lot of European games are set to one language out of a few choices permanently just before shipping by loading the game and making a one-time choice. Or at least I think that's what they said... The method might vary.

Guess I will have to check to see if I can find a save file for it then. Though I'm not sure I can. Maybe I should try downloading one from Gamefaq or something.

Oh, well I was thinking the problem was that you already had a save file that had already chosen the language. Deleting that file doesn't fix it?

Well. I don't really see a Save File anywhere marked Medievil. I guess ePSXe doesn't do that.

Have you played the game enough to be able to save? Where do you think the saved data goes?

Hm, not as of yet. Then again, I don't really know where to go to save. I have been able to make my way through the first level though. I know that much. It doesn't give me an option to save between levels I don't think. EDIT: It does, just saved the game to a Memory Card file.

Okay, try moving that file to some faraway folder and see what happens.

Actually, I just deleted it from the Memory Card File. It's not a folder or anything. Now I will start over, see what happens. EDIT: No change unfortunately..

Yes. It's a file. It doesn't save games to their own file names for some reason..

What happens if you delete that entire file from your disk?

I suspect I will lose all of my saved games. Not really something I would like. ;3

I'm thinking about trying to find a Medievil PPF. Apparently it can influence the rom to be the correct language or something. I will try moving the memory card I guess. EDIT: Moving it did not work. But I am going to attempt turning the file into an NRG file. Cause I have a Patcher that might work on it. Another EDIT: Nope. Did not work. Guess I will be able to manage with whatever language it is. It shouldn't be too hard to pick up. Basically just a hack and slash.
