I find that it is impossible to see everything at once... However what I've found is you can keep 2/3 focus on one run and the other 1/4 concentration you can get an idea of what is going on in the other games. I alternate so that I can see what is going on in all. here's how: has a lot to do with peripheral and moving your eyes every now and then. find one game to keep an eye on for, and watch the corner closest to the center of all 4 games , this way periphally you can still see most of the other games. after 3-5 seconds, move your eye slightly to a different corner. if you're focusing on megaman 3, look at the bottom right corner of the megaman 3 screen. megaman 4, bottom left corner. megaman 5, top right corner. megaman 6, top left corner.

What do you do with the remaining 1/12 of your focus? ;)

you can't keep all focus on the games, so you need at least 1/12 elsewhere or else your mind will explode lol no that was just a miscalculation, I meant to write 1/3 but I guess this is funnier

Time for a new .avi WIP http://www.mediafire.com/?4nlungwug2n and here is a fcm WIP by yours truly :) I feel there are some things I must explain for this WIP. When I grab the ladder for the first time in Mega Man 4 (when I've switched to the Balloond Adaptor) I decided its better to let Mega Man climb all the way up until the screen started to scroll than shooting in Mega Man 5 to kill the enemy. Because, as you all know, when you fire while climbing a ladder, you cant move upwards so thats why I waited a few frames before I moved on in Mega Man 5 and 6 etc. Another imporant aspect to mention, in Mega Man 6 near the end of the ship and the first bomb platform, I could have obviously progressed there instead of waiting but as you all can see, my objective was to move/slide to the left in Mega Man 3 quickly as possible so I could move on in Mega Man 4, 5 and 6. I could have jumped on the first platform in Mega Man 6 and you have obviously 3 seconds to move forward or otherwise it will blow up but if I would have chosen to do that (while moving to the left for Mega Man 3), then I would have no chance of reaching the second platform because by then, the first platform would have been disappeared by explosion. Enjoy and this encoded .avi is always sponsored and brought to you by: DeHackEd.

Brilliant. At first I thought somehow the other MegaMan now finished a boss earlier then before, but you switched the megaman windows around :p Good job though! Is playing and recording four fceu's as heavy as playing the video's of this codec? :p

Wow. I think my mind exploded while trying to keep track of what was going on in each window. Looks great so far, though listening to all the music at once gets annoying after a while, but i was too enthralled to mute it.

Really a sick movie! :D Damn entertaining to see the quad-avi. Wonder how many games it's possible to link like this?

Just curious... would each subsequent WIP AVIs be the complete thing, up just the new updated portions? I could imagine the AVIs becoming huge as more stages are completed... Hosting would also become a problem wouldn't it?

I don't think the hosting itself would be the problem, but I could imagine the encoding taking longer, and the downloading taking longer than wanted. It hasn't been discussed, but I could imagine only a part of it would be encoded. We'll see what the future brings us :)

With the internet as it is now, i only really see a problem in hosting. And i'm rather sure SDA would even host this for the heck of it. Other then that, a 4 gig video with this content is well worth it. Encoding it is indeed a whole other issue. Maybe you can do it in parts. Like encode 5 minutes per part (at least while wip-ing). Then in the end you could do a huge one, and have the parts.

if this site proposes a 600+ MB file, I don't see how this could be a problem to propose the quad run as well. what is the predicted size by the way ? is it that large ? on a side note : I noticed it's better to watch it from a long distance, as it's very hard to follow while sitting next to your screen. besides, when looking in details at what is going on, a lot of action seems sloppy (collisions, hits..) but I guess it's natural due to the complexity, and it's very impressive anyway.

Personally, I think it would hardly exceed 250 MB.

I'd say multiply the regular speedrun of the longest run by 4 and add 10%.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of torrents hosting the download; at least for me, BT screws my network. And anyway, I am not too sure how many seeds would actually be available long enough as the submission gets much bigger... I just took a look at the current host for the latest WIP, and I realised it boasts unlimited upload file size. Perhaps the hosting problem isn't as bad as I had expected... As an alternative, I personally like the idea of streaming videos, perhaps .FLVs hosted preferably somewhere private rather than on youtube etc, in case some losers go around stealing the content and bragging about their own (in)abilities. This would cut down on downloading time of each subsequent WIP.

Umm, that (and the resulting number) makes very little sense. H.264 takes advantage of motion compensation on the whole image, so encoding four runs separately would mean larger total file size than cramming all of them into one big screen (it would be a bit harder on the CPU, though). Furthermore, the whole movie would take about ~45 minutes to beat the longest game — comes from a (rather generous) ~30% speed penalty while having to manipulate four games at once, which diminishes as the games are idle or beaten. Add 5 more minutes for the credits (if one of the last two games to be finished will be MM 4 or 6, which have the longest credits). So let's say it's a 50 minutes long .avi. With a bitrate of about 600 (based on the current DeHackEd's encode, which is 513 kbps video and 65 kbps audio), that's 3000 seconds * 600 kilobits / 8192 = ~220 megabytes, 230—240 in the worst case. Simple as that! </nerd>

New WIP! Total length now 18354 frames, or 5 minutes and 6 seconds. This movie clears the seconds levels for all four games. Mega Man 4 is clearly a little behind on the others... we'll see if it can catch up :) WIP (MM3 checksum) (Mainly for AngerFist: MM4 checksum, MM5 checksum, MM6 checksum) - At MM6, it was needed to get a large refill to have enough ammo for Blizzardman - MM5 gravityman can't really be killed faster anyway (not even in a normal run), because of his movement. - MM3 needleman also went very quick - MM6 Blizzardman did his roll attack once. It's a lot harder to manipulate luck when playing 4 games at a time. I think 1 roll is a good result. I did manage to let him do the roll to the right, so it's a very short roll. The battle might still be faster than the Megaman6 v1 run. - MM4 Brightman was a real pain. Luck needed to be manipulated so that Brightman wouldn't do his flash attack, and megaman had to give charged shots, which made it nearly impossible to shoot at MM5 and MM3. I think the battle isn't a lot slower than the battle in the currently published MM4 run.

This run is progressing very well and fast. The only bad thing is seeing megaman taking lot of damage to make the run posible but is still acceptable and entertaining to watch

I have two questions: How come weapon selection window does not show up un upper-left video when start is pressed? It's around 03:28 in video... And will you consider encoding further WIPs from the end of last WIP with a little overlap? beginnig won't change at all anyways, I think...

The at the frame start is pressed, for changing weapons at megaman 6, there is a frame of lag at both megaman 3 and megaman 5. Megaman 4 is scrolling at this frame. This lag is created by shooting, which explains those shots.

That being said, I hope people understand (shooting to create lag in order to switch), accept and realize how pretty hard it is to switch weapon in one game and not all four :)

why does not megaman shoot and lag in MM6 at that frame then?.. We all know that this is hard work ^^ and you are doing well )
