I think quite a few will watch it, and quite a few will enjoy it too. There will however very likely also be quite a few who will vote no, so it's not really certain if the TAS will get published in the end. This should be taken into account if someone decides to make the run.

Do a run with a goal of showing off all the power coronations, and using them effectively. An entertainment run of this (Heck, even boss rush) would be fun to watch.

Bah, do it anyways! Especially if you have nothing better to do ;) If you make it it *might* not be published, but if you don't make it it *will* not be published.
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

Well, there are certain movies (especially clear improvements to existing runs) which you can be practially certain about that they will be published. A TAS of this obviously doesn't fall into this category. I do think however that lots of people will be interested in seeeing it, including myself, and yes, if no one tries, it's certain it won't be published, so yeah... I would wish for someone to TAS it, just like you do. I still think the TASer should take in into account and be prepared for the worst.

Fire (and Fire/Fire) would be fastest but rather boring. Ice/stone is also faster than running for several seconds per activation, though you'd have to optimize when to stop and restart. Would be better to see a all-shards run which used interesting/difficult(Ice/cutter Skates, anyone?) /funny(ice/bomb snowman, ice/stone curling stone) abilities in a variety of ways. Also, make display of the various uses of enemies held overhead- it took me a long time to notice that they'd put in this very neat feature.

Yes, true but sad. Does it always have to be though?

A lot of people, despite what they are supposed to do, will look at publication of a run as the ultimate goal, not the enjoyment of the creation process or the knowledge that some people, somewhere will enjoy it. This will always be the case. So to encourage someone to undertake a 40+ minute movie when there is a large amount of doubt about it's publication potential is somewhat irresponsible (or selfish, I'm not sure which works best here), unless you know that they really just want to make the movie, and don't care about whether it's published or not.

Then we should give those people the artificial incentive of making their work of art relatively available on this revered collection of tool-assisted movies (not in the reject pile). "Available" is a weaker term than the revered "Published" -- I would like a smaller, refined section of the current publications to be the most public face of the site, and devote the rest to all these good movies that will be enjoyed by people, but not by everyone. And yes, I'm being selfish, but anyone who says otherwise about themselves is a liar :)

I know your position on this. But start bugging Bisqwit about it if you really want to make a permanent change; no one else has any sort of control over it.

Yes, it seems I've told you in particular repeatedly, for no particular reason beyond the fact that it was convenient to do so. It was for the benefit of others, in case they've not been paying attention to me :) Sorry to go off topic. You should make a run so it can be enjoyed!

Well, I'd prefer to have it published if I were to make it, so what would have the highest chance of such happening without sacrificing entertainment? (or at least not sacrificing too much) If I decide to and it isn't accepted, I'll still upload it on youtube for people to see. Also, I've been looking around for a hex editing guide, could anyone point me in the right direction? Doesn't have to be 100% for newbs, I can figure alot of it out on my own, I just need a pointer, as I haven't made a full-game TAS before and I'd imagine I would need to optimize certain parts as I realize my mistakes.

Thanks for the link alden.. Dunno how I forgot about that page. I'll post WIPs of the movie later as I do it. Edit: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/125126261/Kirby64-100%25TAS.m64

I'm getting a desync, and I'm somehow pretty sure I used the right rom and settings...

Hmm. With the (U) [!] rom? It's playing back for me. It's only the first stage either way, I'll make a WIP encode once I finish a bit more.

Thanks, I'll try to finish all of the first area by the end of the week. School is coming up >_> Also, does anyone who has good experience with kirby64 want to help out with WIPs/a few other things? (on msn)

Me! (I worked on this game before.) I don't have MSN though. You could try the IRC channel, I lurk there a lot, or if not forum PMs back and forth work fine.

I'd love to see both playaround and fastest time possible runs, but perhaps that's just me.

Well, fastest possible time would be any% and just be mass fire+fire. I'm doing 100%, so you'll see some other combinations that are required to get some shards.
