Its not tactics so much as correcting his mistakes in a few levels.

Oh, uh... So did you realize the importance of being able to move only halfway onto a square?

Well... I don't think you can finish the game at all without knowing that's important... There is (only) one fault in the fmv, where I move one sqaure too much, althought this is hard to spot. I would send it in, but it wouldn't be placed anyway.

I started the Adventures of Lolo 2 run today. The first three rooms were pretty straightforward, but the fourth was tricky to find the fastest path for. I'm still not sure if I've got it quite right. (Note: I refer to Emerald Framers as "boxes" and to Heart Framers as "the Heart of the Cards".) Anyway, when I got to the fifth room of the first floor, I started fiddling around with Lolo's path to discover which path would finish the room the fastest without getting trapped by the Rockys. Eventually I realized that I could push both of the boxes just below the Medusas only half a space up to save time. So I started trying a path where I pushed the right box up by half, then the left box, grabbed the Heart of the Cards to the left of that, then came back for the Heart of the Cards in between the boxes. Well, this timed out so that Rocky caught me grabbing that second Heart of the Cards and came straight after me. But as I tried vainly to make a break for it, a wonderful glitch occurred, and I saw Rocky run right through Lolo, meaning I could still get past Rocky and save time. After some more tries I figured out how to repeat the glitch in that spot. It seems that what I have to do is line Lolo up with the box and keep walking to the right. He won't push the box because the next Heart of the Cards is in the way, but this somehow causes Rocky to pass straight through when he runs. It would be neat if someone could understand why this works so we could try to use the glitch in other levels.

Well, my Lolo 2 project is still alive. I uploaded the first four floors of the game to my Geocities site, so you probably can't left-click this link and stuff. http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/lolo2.zip Critique it if you want! I need to know what to do differently!

Okay, so I just noticed a huge mistake in 4-4, but I corrected it and added floor 5 to my video: http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/lolo2-5.zip And someone would better respond, since I'm sure I look silly triple-posting like this.

I agree, Bag. In fact, I think that all people who edit their posts need to put a bolded disclaimer at the top, stating that theirs is not a legitimate posting effort. For shame! ...ah, only a joke. I hope I did not offend. Besides, what is editing a post, really, but rerecording it?

I checked your Lolo 2 run, atleast the first 4 floors. It looked good except for one thing. In stage 2-x maybe. Anyways, you had to wait for a moving medusa head (that pink moving bastard) in some stage but it looked confusing to me. Like you forgot something but then remembered that you'd waited for him to get in positision. Except for that, and im sure it really is the fastest possible way, I have nothing to complain about ;) Good job.

Actually, if you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then what I think I was doing was teasing the Don Medusa by running around almost in front of him to kill time while I waited for him to get to the other side of the screen. Those guys are real pains for a time attack because you always have to wait for them to be somewhere else. So I did Floor 6, but I didn't like it very much besides the last level. Especially 6-4, where I had to skillfully pull 5 boxes off a pile while waiting for Don Medusa and Rocky to get out of my freaking way. I also did 7-1, and pretty well too, though I still had to "guesstimate" where best to put those boxes and wait for the stupid Don Medusas again. I'm not doing any more waiting dances for them.

Oh, never seen this topic before because it's in the NES section. I am just trying a Lemmings run (and Push-Over) for SNES, really hard to do perfect. I think it wont be finished before the next month (if I could stick that long to this game) :/.

Okay, I've got up through Floor 8 for you to look at so far. http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/lolo2-8.zip Keep in mind this is just the preliminary run, so in the final version I'll put much more effort into trying absolutely everything and doing everything in the earliest possible frame (still need to patch Famtasia with that frame stuff). I'm putting these files up so people can tell me better ways of doing the levels, if they find any. And I still haven't found anywhere else to use that glitch from 1-5.

...Okay, so I did find another place to do the glitch, right in 10-1, and it does involve pushing a box sideways while Rocky runs through Lolo. I didn't need it for my movie, though. Here's the finished version: http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/lolo2-10.zip I've picked up some new techniques that will probably make the next version faster, like that thing where I step halfway onto an egg before pushing it. It's also important to get an egg off the screen as fast as possible if the enemy is needed to regenerate elsewhere or if the egg is in water and another egg needs to be floated on water. That's why I was thinking of getting the other two magic shots in 3-5 before riding the first egg so I could shoot it off after reaching the island and ride the Snakey egg right away. I think it was either slower or impossible to dodge all the Skulls without magic shots afterward, though, but maybe I'll try harder next time.

I just submitted an improved version of Adventures of Lolo. It's 22 seconds faster than the previous one. Hope you'll enjoy it.
