I was considering doing a two player run of this game and I was wondering if anyone would find it entertaining to watch. This game is weird in that a large amount of time in the levels would be spent fighting bosses. Another question would be about the difficulty level. I think the only difference between easy and hard modes are the amount of life the enemies and bosses have. A hard run on this game would have a large amount of time spent against bosses, but it doesn't seem right playing on easy. Any ideas/input would be great.

What are you waiting for????????????????? I love this game! I played it a lot when I was a kid. I remember how long a boss fight can be... but I don't remember if Hard mode adds something extra to the game...

YES, joe and mac 4tW. I'd do it. I dont really know any tricks in the game, but i've beaten it before, lol. Is there really a Hard mode? I thought there was only 1 Player, 2 Player, and 2 Player Super Game. Is the super game hard mode? Because the only thing i've noticed in that is that you can hurt eachother.

You can select hard mode in the option menu. All it does is give more life to the enemies and bosses. 2 player super mode also lets you stand on each other allowing you to pull off some neat aerobics. I did 1 level of this game with two players and didn't think it would be that good of a run after all because the boss fights are really long and boring, especially at the end of the game. I put this off in favor of battletoads and double dragon. As for glitches I found one, but I have no idea how it happened and I can't reproduce it. I rolled off a platform and when hitting the ground started another roll. Instead of going straight the character went up into the air at 45 degrees. This would be very useful in the climbing levels, but I don't know what caused it to happen.

Why not dehacked's microstorage? Also boomerang are weak, that's why slow on first boss. Why you didn't use fire attack? Doesn't matter if "Hard" difficult is making the game become longer to finish, TAS it down. Oh btw, I'm interested in seeing this game get TASed, one of my old game I used to have.

No no no, use HARD but beat it down with TAS, frame advance or whatever. Make it entertaining. Was I confusing? English isn't my prime language.

no no, its just the fact that it takes up extra time to switch the game to hard mode.

It doesn't matter if it takes extra time to change to the hard mode. Sometimes you even have to input a password to get the hard mode (Smash TV for example).

I had been experimenting with control to get caveman to roll, to roll, you need 2 frames of wait still, 2 frames of hold forward, 2 frames of wait still again, and then forward to roll. *edit - actually, this doesn't apply to every action, odd, sometime you only need 1 stay, 1 forward, 1 stay.

yeah that really annoys me. it screws me up a lot. i use it just to roll pass cavemen and anything else. i can combo this into a rolling jump too, which can work effectively. EdiT: actually rolling pretty much pwns. check out this quick example i made http://rapidshare.de/files/25880937/example_of_roll.smv.html

Yes. Ok here, if you can't get from power-on to first boss' death under 6700 frames, you should try follow these guidelines and practice frame advance. I'm not going to try steal the idea or your work, I never finish any of my TAS works. =/

yeah, i'm still a newb in using savestates and frame advance (i've never even tried frame advance yet) mostly because im' too impatient to play the game that slow ^^ and dont feel like your stealing my work, if you can do better, go ahead! it wasnt even my idea in the first place :P but i guess i just took it over :P damn, this game is slow responding. it takes like 5 frames of holding B for it to finally start jumping. takes around the same ammount to start walking. it takes around 13 frames to finally throw something/ hit someone. takes around 65 frames to jump and land just straight up and down.

I just found that to cancel high jump spinning, you must not hold any left or right direction while pressing jump button. Press only up when jumping, then press left or right to stop spinning so you can attack during high jump. I might be able take this task, I'm up to Pterodactyl boss at 3:45, entertainment > speed in it.

Things I liked about this: -Calling the shots about 80% of the time they needed to hit. What I mean is, you threw the weapon and let the enemy (usually bosses) stumble into it. Most obvious in the Giant Pterodactyl fight and the fight against those fish enemies (not sure what they're called, really), I think. -Sacrificing pure speed for some entertainment. An absolute pure speed run of this game, in my opinion, would be BORING, mainly because of the slow movement speed of the characters. Things that bothered me: -As far as I was able to see, you seem to be a couple pixels off all the time when finding the position for the end-of-level scene. I know, it may seem like 'just a couple of pixels', but if it bothers me at this stage, it may bother whatever judge decides to look at it if/when it's submitted, in which case they may very well reject the run. If it really is unavoidable, though, please say so, but I really suspect the slight miss in that area can be avoided. -I still seem convinced that whether the boss goes into 'shock state' (and a bar is taken off of their health) is determined by a certain amount of time passing (which is different for some bosses - this is why the T-Rex fight is so slow and the Giant Pterodactyl fight is so fast), rather than how many times you actually hit them. Just something to investigate, really.

You mean babe showing up for it? I tried even perfect spot, caveman just move forward 1 pixel then move back 1 pixel.

One part of me I don't like to do during in making of TAS. One thing I think that first boss dino has no weakness against any weapon, plant boss weak against fire, green pterodactyl boss weak against fire (as faq said).

Just for fun Ill post the work I made on this game a while back. Can I suggest that instead of doing a 1 player run you do a 2 player super mode run instead? I think that with 2 people on screen it can make the game look a bit more interesting to watch. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1389/Joe%20and%20Mac%20-%20Caveman%20Ninja%20%28U%29.smv This run is in no way perfect, but it shows how using 2 players can open up a lot of potential
