no, the smas version of smb2j is alot easier than the fds version, plain and simple. The differences warrant this imo.

In the current run of this, in level 5-2 Mario goes down and upside-down pipe which sends him to the warp zone. Does this only work only in the famicom version, or does it also work in The Lost Levels on the SNES? I tried to duplicate it on console with the SNES version but had no success. Either it doesn't work on the SNES version, or I'm missing something. I also realized something odd when I was playing the SNES version. When you land on the flagpole backwards, it has a weird affect and seems as if you drop off the flagpole sooner. I'm sure it doesn't matter due to the 21 frame rule, but I think it something worth checking out. I've wondered nfor a while if that would end up somehow saving time.

That's because you Mario doesn't turn around the pole like he normally does. It's done in this movie quite alot

Not a General question, and there already exists a thread for Super Mario Bros 2j. Moving the post.

I'm working on TASing SMB2j using B as little as possible. Right now I just started 4-4 and I've used B three times, once in 4-1 and twice in 4-3. There seems to be absolutely NO way to avoid this, not even walljumps. Would a TAS of this kind be accepted (under concept demos)? Could someone tell me how to attach a file to this post so I can show what I've done so far?

If it's not possible, then it's not exactly a good concept. I'd say no

Don't let that stop you from doing it anyway.

I don't quite know the game, but maybe the 4th world is skipable?

This works. Also, trying to make the impossible possible by intentionally ignoring the premise of the run doesn't make for a particularly good movie. But if you enjoy doing it, who am I to stop you?
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

Is there a working link to the 24 star patch? I'm interested in this game, but not interested enough to play through the normal game eight times.

andrewg have found some wonderful improvements in SMB2J 1-1. We are making a new SMB2J run recently. I've proved them all possible. The idea 1 is about getting a mushroom and enter the ground in 1-1. It saved 42 frames, and I got 21 frames in 1-2 using the big body. The idea 2 and 3 are both entering the ground using a shell bounce jump, it was quite impossible to do that. The idea 2 saved 42 frames in 1-1, and the idea 3 saved 63 frames. Unfortunately, we need to get 2 frames faster in 1-1 to save more, there's possibly a way to kick the shell into the ground 1-2 frame(s) earlier. I'm tring to work it out. Here are some WIPs for these tricks: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1577747958/HL-SMB2J1-1-Trick1.fcm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/54260587/HL-SMB2J1-1-Trick2.fcm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/356011108/HL-SMB2J1-1-Trick3.fcm
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

I'm glad you were able to save time by using the shell. :) I can't see anything else that is improvable. How is this coming along now? Are you at world 8 yet?

I don't get it for idea 2/3... where're going to get the mushroom then? You still need it sooner or later, no?

Getting the mushroom later in level 4-1 and flower in 4-2 should leave it so that no time is wasted later... I think. I'm a bit confused. Happylee, are ideas 1 and 3 are equally as fast, both saving 63 frames? Also, I feel like combining ideas 1 and 2 could result in the fastest method.
