This, very much. You're really giving this game your all.

Hooray for more pie! Unfortunately I won't be able to watch it til late feb for various logistical reasons D:

Isn't it the best soul for legion? And you need to kill legion before cleanup to get galamoth (to get chronomage to get skyfish...)

You had me worried there for a second D:. Luckily, a quick test shows that Nightmare works just as fine, if not better; it can hit all parts twice and costs 30 mana instead of 50. About 130 damage instead of 300 or whatever Valkyrie does. It kinda sucks how Nightmare smashes all other souls, it's starting to get old.

I thought of a new strategy for Legion earlier today and I was really excited to test it out. The best part of the strategy is that it eliminates pause screens entirely. Currently, it's about 20 frames slower than my v2 fight, but with lag reduction it should end up about equally fast. I'm going to start hitting the upper right segment a little bit earlier so that I can camp on the right side of the room earlier. Also, changing his pattern towards the end should save some time. Hopefully I might trigger a faster death animation, which will make the fight a lot faster than in my v2. Using Bone Pillar instead of Great Armor might also be a good idea. Saves me another pause screen later on. Pie Enjoy!

Finally done with Legion. It took a buttload of hex editing, and many many restarts of the fight. But now I'm 100% certain I cannot improve it more. I ended up 6 frames faster than my v2. Pie The absolutely worst part is finally dealt with. My goal is to reach Graham this week, if not more.

Awesome stuff, Kriole! I've just watched your last 3 WIPs. I really enjoyed your arc demon fight, and the triple soul grab in the flame demon corridor. Also, nice improvement to the legion fight! More action-packed wthout those pause screens. Looking forward to Graham!

While the improvement is somewhat underwhelming, I think that this new strategy is way more entertaining :3 Progress is fairly decent, I just arrived at Balore. Erynis and the Lubicants were a nightmare, but I managed somewhat nicely. Pie 1706 frames ahead of my v2.

Thanks! I should be finishing this run fairly shortly, maybe in a week or 2 perhaps. Currently, I'm in the shaft just before the Top Floor. It's extremely boring to do, so I'm gonna finish it and hopefully reach Graham tomorrow. Pie Not quite sure how many frames ahead I am, I have yet to pause to switch to Giant Bat and Lubicant.

Graham. Pie I was extremely unlucky with the Red Minotaur. All manipulation/additional soul drops around the Basilisks/Iron Golem were for the Red Mintoaur. Bleh. 1936 frames ahead of my v2.

Nice work, Kriole! Nice to see just how useful the blocking mail is -- will you keep it, or change to dracula's tunic?

What the hell? I remember answering this a few days ago. Meh. Anyways, I'll keep the Blocking Mail, since it saves more time thanks to glitched level-ups and allows me to skip some monsters. Also, I just entered Julius' room, 2869 frames ahead of my v2. The run should be finished in a day or two.

Is it possible that changing Soma's luck stat (by equipping a +lck soul for instance) could help with impossible soul drops?

As I understand it, only by changing which RNG values will generate souls. Here's my understanding of the "impossible soul drop" problem: a soul can be either 1 or 2 RNG outputs away. When Soma swings his weapon, the RNG advances by 1 if he doesn't shout, or 2 if he does (presumably to decide which shout he uses). If the soul is 1 RNG away and he doesn't shout, or 2 and he does, then all is well. However, if it's 1 away and he does shout, then you end up skipping the desired RNG value.

If I recall, changing LCK only changes the target number for a drop, not the actual check for whether a drop is possible. Silly RNGs based around CanItDrop>ButWillItDrop>WhatKindOfDrop, they make everything more annoying to manipulate.

This is exactly right; when you're 2 away, you won't shout, and when you're 1 away, you will, so you can't get the soul either way. It's perhaps overstating the case slightly to call these "impossible" drops; more just "awkward"; this is because you're not forced to have the swing happen so close in time to the monster dying; you could instead swipe much earlier at thin air, then move your extended blade into the monster after external factors have scrambled the RNG appropriately. Nevertheless, this strategy is often not acceptable because it will cause delays. (Perhaps cooldown could be managed to ensure a certain amount of "slack" time on the killing blow?)

I've tried reading through every page to check, but I only made it to page 14 before I decided to just asK: What can anyone tell me about using the Axe Armor's axe to damage boost into the room with a Catoblepas and Copper Plate? I've tried it quite a bit, both in real time and in frame advance, but I can't seem to get it to work.

yep, I used that in my old run

Fantastic, but could you explain the damage boost? I assume it's frame perfect, but is it stricter than that? I've gotten hit at what seemed to be the highest part of the jump many times, but still failed to land on the ledge. Is that because of anything besides it not actually being the peak of my jump?

As far as I can remember, the hardest part is to find the perfect position to jump (backdash+jump).

That doesn't bode well, then, since I was considering it for a segmented run, not a TAS. I'll keep at it, though. Thanks for responding so quickly EDIT: On another note, is there any particular reason the all-souls run doesn't use glitched warps?

The trick is actually quite easy. First, wait on the platform with the armor, the catoblepas should be walking towards you (to the right). Drop down to the catoblepas when it's all the way to the right. Now make sure you're facing left. Finally when our enemy turns around simply backdash into mordor. Done! Can easily be done in real-time. Good luck!

Because it's a non-glitched run. Stand at the edge of the lower platform, when the Axe is just in front of Soma start the backdash. The position isn't that terribly important, it's all about getting hit on the highest possible altitude.
