Post subject: how do i change the language of a Windows 2000 computer

I'm at a family members house, and when they installed windows 2000, they thought it would be good to install it in french, since they used french a bit, and consider themselves a "french" family. They realize now how little french they actually remember and are sick of translating everything. So i've been asked to change the language. problem is, i dont speak french, and cant even find my way around the control panel enough to figure it out (windows looks totally different in french) If anyone can help, that would be awesome.

Try reinstalling Windows. There is a thing in Control Panel called Regional and Language Settings (or similar, but I use XP). I don't think it helps.

Regional Settings cannot change the interface language. It can only change cultural settings and keyboard settings.

Press Windows Key + R to open the "run" thing. Type in "control.exe international" (no quotes) The interface language can be changed , but you'll see the changes only after you logoff.

thanks for the help guys, but fractal is right. for windows XP, regional settings only set's the keyboard language, which is already english. Thanks anyways.

You need to buy an English Windows XP if you want to have it in English. If you don't like it, you can switch to Linux; Ubuntu Linux, for example, has good support for different languages. All it requires is setting the right option and then logging in again.
