Anyway, it seems like the continual-hit glitches at least would make two players useful. I don't know if the "two simultaneous hits" glitch would be as useful since it seems to lock the player for a while after it happens. Maybe just for end-of-scene kills. It seems likely that the best way to deal damage would be with two characters using aerial attacks, since those attacks should hit more quickly than standing melee strikes do. This of course assumes that the attacks work on non-fat enemies.

I'm looking forward to seeing a new run that uses 2p combos if (when) it gets submitted.

satan, I have made a new Speed Run with Max, this time I beat the game in 27 minutes and 55 seconds, I improved almost everything in comparison to my old Speed Run or the one made by SprintGod. Although Max bores you, you should take a look at it: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8772

It's hard to comment when you are literally humiliating the game. The constant atomic drops and multi-hitting-hook attack gets boring on the last few levels, though I understand that it is required for getting the fastest time. The first few levels are awesome though. The only other thing I can say is that there are a few attacks you never used - Drop Kick, Headbutt, and the Chokehold. I understand they are slower, but maybe you could've used them in a place where you already had the enemy on the last drop of health, AND on a hold. I counted at least 2 places with that.

Killing X with a Chokehold would've been a nice finisher. Incidentally, I tried playing Streets of Rage 3 today, and I'd forgotten just how brutal it is. Enemies routinely have boss-level amounts of health and are way more agile than you are; most of their attacks do non-trivial damage and come out quickly; the bosses themselves just love playing keepaway and outranging you; and don't even get me started on the stage with the time limit! Oh, and the music sucks, too.

SOR3 was butchered up only in the USA version. The original Japanese one is way way way better.

I'm trying to do a Speedrun with Skate, no easy and I have no existent speedruns to make comparisons, if someone volunteers to make another it would rock. I cancelled the Speedrun with Blaze, too boring and unclear.

I don't think that this site would accept a second run of the game unless that run was either heavily glitched or used two players. You can of course still make any runs you like for your own satisfaction though, and I'd love to see Skate tearing up the place. Good luck! Satan: maybe I'll try to track the Japanese version down sometime, then.

I must agree with Derakon. Unless a Skate run is substantially different, a 2p run with Max and Skate would be a much wiser and more entertaining option. It'd likely be longer since there are more enemies when there are 2 players, but just the dynamic of 2 players would make up for it. And like I said earlier in this topic, a 2p run should have entertainment/speed trade-offs. Several people seemed to complain about Max using the same moves over and over, so having trade-offs would make it a lot more fun to watch. Especially since SoR2 is a game that's easier to enjoy watching once you've played it thoroughly, especially on Mania mode.

Not really, the number of enemies doens't change with 2 players. I tested the possibility of a 2 players speedrun and results were awful, however making a run with stunts or funny stuff would be ok.

What exactly was awful about it? I'd suggest a two-player run not use Max, actually, mostly because he's clearly going to do the one-player run, so everyone gets to see him shine already. So my suggestion would be Skate and Blaze.

The only reason I'd like to see Skate and Max is because I think it would be funny to see a 10 year old kid throw a 200 lb man.

When you die with no lives left, if you continue, do you get to change your character? If so, all 4 characters could be used. 2 characters sharing points would help in reducing 1-ups. Also, I have not decided if this is a terrible suggestion or not.

Maybe Skate + Skate using the cheat so both players can be the same character could be fun. I'm quite lazy to do a test run on this game, though

Ideally if you wanted the fastest run you would use 2 Max's, but you'll be exposed to watching endless atomic drops. I definitly don't want to see two of the same characters used, as the action would be less varied and be more confusing to follow.

So Bestiajerules said in his 2 Max run submission that they are planning to do an Axel/Skate run. Nothing really to contribute or say, but I was wondering if maybe you could keep us updated on that run? Would love to know if there's any progress on it, instead of madly coming to this forum everytime there's a new post hoping it's SoR2-related.

Welp, I was bored. So I decided to try & forsee what a 2-player run would look like with Skate & Max. The results are menacing. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/453188053/Streets%20of%20Rage%202%20TAS.gmv Note: The above run isnt optimized in the slightest. I dont know how manipulation works, so chances are you could save literal seconds off still.

Color me interested, even if I can't watch the WIPs. Good luck, Sonikkustar!

Some more sort of progress! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1387538395/Streets%20of%20Rage%202%20TAS.gmv I'm still trying to get used to the game's mechanics & manipulation of enemies. What do you think?

I think it looks good. Saving seconds isn't that important for a run like this, in my opinion. It's more important to show interesting combos, use all attacks and weapons (grenade!) and bugs, and be reasonably fast. Speaking of which, my FAQ on GameFAQs has some info you might be interested in, how some of the bugs in this game works.
