Without doubt, DKC3 have the better SNES graphics (maybe SFA2 has a better graphic, but i don't play it). But, it has the wrost music in all DKC series. Some stages just don't have music (Bobbing Barrel Brawl, for example), and the Kremlings sounds are totally annoying >.< Thanks to feedback. Everyone. I like do things that everyone like =]
I think that SMW2: Yoshi's Island has the best graphics. It is one of the hardest games to emulate also.

Rocket Barrel Ride complete. No, i can't catch the second bonus without walk this all. This is an small and simple stage, i have much time to optimize it. Next stage is the harder to TAS of Cotton Top Cove. I think Sunday i finish it.

Hm, a few things to say about this level at the beginning there's a barrel on the ground that you jump over. I thought you could roll through barrels by letting go of Y during the range of frames that would make you grab the barrel Sami let the Kongs take hits to avoid having to go in some blast barrels twice, I didn't see any DK barrels along the way but did you consider letting a Kong take a hit to save time in this level? On the good side, Using the team throws was brilliant and saved a lot of time, and finally I see the use of that weird bird, I never knew he had a use in one of the bonuses, I always disregarded it because the thing died easily. The barrels are all really slow in this game, so it's nice to see you breeze quickly through this level. Nice job.

I tested this on the first stage of the game. Let Y go when i'm crossing the barrel make me slow down time enough to made the jump a better choice. Intead of Diddy, Kiddy lost MUCH speed when he's walking intead of running, even when he roll.

I need to choose: Or i take hit of a bee and gain like... 2 seconds, or i do the team throw up the stage and use Parry in the bonus (i couldn't reach the bonus with him without using team throw). And i don't have any DK barrel or midstages barrel in my run. It's the effect of the "hard mode". (The good point is that i ever have both monkeys in the begining of the stages)
On the good side, Using the team throws was brilliant and saved a lot of time, and finally I see the use of that weird bird, I never knew he had a use in one of the bonuses, I always disregarded it because the thing died easily.
The team throw is my discover. Parry's use in bonus is an idea from David Gibbons of SDA. And i have to use Parry in other 2 stages because he'll change in a bonus barrel =]

Thanks, man =]

Hm, I remember letting go of Y to pass through barrels lsot no speed in DKC2, but I guess it does in this game... bummer excelent reasons for doing what you did, 2 seconds no way compares to the use of the team throw The faster strategies being discovered makes me wonder if you considering DKC3 any% improvment? People have asked me if I want to do DKC2 any% but Arne has yet to reveal if he's still working on it, so I don't know if I can or not.

Yep, i consider to do an Any% run. But i have a bad habit to don't finish my plans, so i try to don't think on this before finish the 105% run. Send a PM to Arne and ask him if he still doing the run. Maybe he don't have much time now to finish it and you can do it. Or you can just be a bad guy and work in the run instead of what he's doing XD

Arne doesn't respond to PM's, and my friend in IRC hasn't been able to get in touch with him. Either he's gotten sick of game and given up without telling anyone, spending a HECK of a lot of time experimenting with glitches, or working extremely slowly and somewhere close to being done without posting WIPs. I am not him so I don't know.

You checked if he don't respond or don't received the PM? Maybe he just got away from forum and ever saw you PM. If the message is on Sentbox, he received and not answered (So, he ignoring you and you can do anything you want). If it is on Outbox, then he don't read it. And i have a new WIP now. Kreping Klasp is more easier than i think, but for sure is the harder stage of this world to TAS because of this anoying fish. Maybe i could finish the last stages today. I wake up early and have absolutelly nothig to do.

Great job on Kreeping Klasps. I love how you abuse that pirhana fish's blind spot and how you water skipped through most of the stage. I was also impressed that you could bring perry into the bonus stage in the previous level. Keep up the great work

Tracker Barrel Trek done. Before catch the DK coin i have a little lag, but is faster than kill the Blue Big Kremlin with Ellie. And i discovered that press A with Ellie (even without water charged) make him stop his rising movement. I used this a lot in this stage. I think i could finish Cotton Top Cove today, but i have some problems with *power* in my city and could just work on this 3 hours ago. I'll try advance on Fish Food Frenzy the most i can, but probly i couldn't finish it today.

Ellies is the only fully established female animal buddy. But I digress... I'll take a look later, I probably should start homework before the weekend ends...

yeah it's in sentbox. I sent it maybe 16 days ago, maybe more. I know for a fact he's the quiet type, so I really don't know what it means.

Well, you already start a any% run, so just don't think much about it by now. =] And... Cotton Top Cove Completed! I finished the boss faster than Sami because i touched the ground some frames earlier than him after catch the ski. Now, the snow world: K3 (yep, it's a snow world, even counting only 2 stages with snow plus boss). Krac Shot Kroc (and spider-madness) is very close now /o/

The problem is that while I am currently 10 frames ahead, that difference is going to be lost easily in the boss fight since the luck manipulation works differently than I had hoped. I only have one good frame to enter with a perfect sequence, and both eggs bounce meaning I have to jump on them from above the nest, which wastes a little time, plus two people potentially working on one run = competition = Arne wins by a very slight amount. But meh this should be in the DKC2 thread. Onto this run- I'll take a look and should have feedback by tonight or tomorrow.

After some analises, i'll start a V4. I have some minor mistakes that i ignored because don't hurt me much. But reviewing the full movie, i think i could save 5 seconds or more with the group of "minor mistakes". Things that i did in my inmsonia nights and that i don't revised... And i start to use the W barrels too. Only this could save me more than 1 minute in some stages. And i'm not be angry with Bobbing Barrel Brawl and Squeals on Wheels again =]

Maybe more than a minute by level that i'll use the Warp barrel. My shot is that i could gain 5 minutes or more just because of this choose. I prefer not use the W barrel, but since i'll start again, why not do this?

Warps in DKC 100+% runs save time... if used the right way. Doing the warp first thing and then either: -Going backwards to get a bonus that is close to the end or -if the bonuses are far enough in the beginning that start+select saves time As seen in my run. If the bonuses are spread out in a level equally enough, then it is not worth it. But I say go for it- I myself did not notice any improvements that you admitted to be correct on my part, but if warping is going to save as much time as you predict, then go for it I myself discovered Snapdragon's DKC2 102% run, that while slower than Ouyana's may have some faster strategies that I might have missed, so I'm going have to review that run (hopefully download it, it's only on googlevideo since it's not on SDA anymore) Good luck with restart of run! I support you 105% of the way. I'll take a look at levels as usual, try and suggest some strategies if I see them. and, uh, get some more sleep. It'll help, trust me.

My little mistakes that can be corrected: -Lakeside Limbo: I can stand with dixie for a little more and catch the Bear Coin over the house. This can made me avoid one harder Bear Coin later; -Doorstop Dash: Use the jump in the ropes instead of climbing; -Verify if is faster catch the Banana Bird now, or when i'm back to talk with Barnacle. -Tidal Trouble: W barrel -Skida's Row: Little slopes. Snow stages is the hardest to measure if some way is faster or no. -Murky Mill: W barrel Just to give some exemples. I believe that in others stages i could save more time.
and, uh, get some more sleep. It'll help, trust me.
I'm TASing better when i'm fall sleeping. I just lose patience to redo a stage if i see an error XD

1 week without notice... and i need to tell that i have bad news. My boss is entering in vacation, and i'll be in his place until 2007. The problem is: Normally i have an 6-hours job. Now i have an 9-hours + 2 "lunch time" (i just have one hour... i need to make an extra hour to get out later). So, i don't have time to TASing this month, sorry. I finished half of the Lakeside Limbo (tested in a lot of ways... really), and i saved 14 frames until now. and i catched the extra 2 bear coins (what is slower than my previous route). I'm stacked in manipulating the banana bonus. I just don't have time enough to test everything before fall sleeping (REALLY fall sleeping). Só, see you after the new year. Everyone have a nice xmas =]

That is a big shame that you won't be able to work on it next month. Good luck with temporary promotion, I'll be looking foward to when you can start working on this again.

I'm still busy, but yesterday was a Holiday here. So, i have time to finish the first stage. I made an route change, and applied some new tricks (like the anytime-double roll). The banana bonus is very close to perfect (i couldn't manipulate the last banana to appear on ground), and after all i have a 89 frames gain! Lakeside Limbo V4. Enjoy =] I'll try to finish Doorstop Dash this weekend, but i don't promisse nothing.

Looked good. I assume this was not a level where warping would've saved time. And now Kiddy can double roll whenever he wants?!? I recently added a Donkey Kong Country Tricks page to the website, and the DKC3 section is lacking, do you have a complete list of DKC3 tricks/glitches that I could add?

I discovered by accident (doh). If you start to roll when you don't have full speed, then you can do an double roll. It's a rule in every DKC game because everyone can double-roll in the beggining and after come from a bonus. If you roll when you have full speed, you need to jump, or you'll stop for a little after the roll. I release Y one frame before jump, jump, and hold Y again. And when i'm 3~5 frames from he ground, i release-hold again Y. So i lost some speed when i start jumping (because i don't have full speed in the moment i jumped), and roll again in the first possible frame. The engine thinks that i still don't have the full speed and allow me to do the double-roll. I demonstrate this after the second bonus two times: When i passed the fat bird, and after kill the last Kremling. I'm not sure if this will work in the other games, but if works, then Diddy will be more impressive in the future. =] [EDIT]
Do you have a complete list of DKC3 tricks/glitches that I could add?
By now, i know the anytime double-roll (detailed above), the jump start (except when the ceil is low, start jumping and holding Y is faster than start with a double roll. I'll test if i could do an double roll after the starting jump), and the DK bounce (in the first 5 frames after Koin is hitted, the DK coin have a different hitbox, and with good calculations, you can kill Koin, bounce back, and catch the DK. I used this in Murky Mill and Squeal on Wheels in my V3). If i remember more, i'll MP you.
