Let's wait his reply to confirm this. I really think that he's saying that's possible to avoid all checkpoint barrels. I finished the list of all Bear coins on the 5 first wolrds. They have a total of 78 coins, and i have 46 in my way (no need of slow or backtrack). Going back after K3 allow me to give blue's present too. :) Probly tomorrow i'll post a new lake orangatanga WIP. I Hate TAS Doorstop Dash >.<

That's actually a good idea! I didn't think of doing the blizzard/blue/bazooka cycle while going to get the shell and the mirror, that might actually be faster than getting the mirror and shell before K3. Anyway, I'm gonna be on vacation for like a week so I probably won't be able to help you very much or comment on your WIP, but that's okay because you're doing this run really well already. Keep up the good work!

Well, new WIP available. Lake Orangatanga complete and 580 frames saved on the process. 210 are from Wrinkly cave, and the rest is just better bonus play. I was without conexion yesterday and today morning, so i still running and completed Riverside Race (2-2). It's on the WIP too. In Barrel shield Bust-up you can see that jump in the rope is faster than just climb. But in Doorstop Dash i just hexedited and copy-pasted my last run. I just have to climb three ropes, and in one i need to wait a bee, so if i lose much, it is like... 30 frames. No, i will not redo Doorstop Dash. This stage is a pain to TAS >.< Riverside Race complete

Looks good :) How is the appearance of the bananas in the "Grab 15 bananas" determined? When you enter the bonus level or while collecting them?

by experience I think it is when you enter the level I remember failing the bonus and when playing it again, the bananas were in the same place.

To be right... is both ways. I could manipulate some bananas inside the bonus, but i'm too impacient to test every frame-change to enter the barrel and test the banana's position.

Actually, Kroxien was correct, I meant that those barrels that were unavoidable did not count against your percentage. Now, I realize that seems absurd but I'm just telling it as I remember it. This is not something I've personally done, just something I remember reading. I am fine with you entering the code but I would also vote for a movie that were faster than yours and didn't use the code but still managed 105% and I would consider your movie obsolete at that point rather than a different category (played on hardest setting). That is just my personal opinion though. Keep up the good work on the TAS though :) EDIT: I actually thought of a way to avoid that half-way point though. What if you finished the course first and then used Start -> Select to exit the course after the bonus but before the barrel? Now, this suddenly makes entering the code a faster alternative but it also means that no code was needed to get 105%, something that (in my opinion) is more interesting). It would be something people aren't used to and would give you more obstacles and allow more exciting moments of avoidance....

Atro city, take a look in my signature and in the first post. I'm using a modified emulator that allow reset recording. This is because in the end of the game i'll cut off the first ending (Anyone can see it on Sami's run), so i cut off the starting animation using reset too. I'm wasted 3 days on Squeals on Wheels and not optimized 100% the stage. That's why i couldn't post any WIPs by now. I REALLY hate any stages with rats and levers. >.<

Well, I'm back now so I can hopefully help your run in any way I can. I haven't watched your WIP yet so I can't really comment but I am happy to see that your movie is almost 10 seconds faster! I'll comment as soon as I watch it, but I really wanted to address the code vs. no code isuue. I'm not saying it would be a bad idea, I just can't see how it would be faster than a run that uses the code. Besides, even if you use start + select to bypass the star barrel in Barrel Shield Bust-Up, there is no way to get around hitting the star barrel in Doorstop Dash. I made a screenshot showing why it's impossible, but I don't know how to upload it, so just see for yourself. I do think it would be interesting to see a movie that dodges barrels or other stuff, but it just wouldn't fit into this run. Maybe someone could make a "Least barrels used while getting 105% without using codes" run as it seems that at least a few people, including me, would like to watch it and maybe help with it.

Barrel Shield Bust-up isn't the only stage that a bonus throw you exactly over a mid-stage barrel. Is just the first. And some of then are after Kremwood Forest, what mean that if i want to use start+select, i need to do the stage 2 times. But you're wrong about Doorstop Dash. I can grab the lever and get out without touch the barrel. Take a look: And i think i finally found a fast way to finish Sqeals on Wheels. It's looking sloopy, but my patience is gone with this stage >.< The rest of Kremwood Forest is easy and probly Thursday i can post a WIP.

Wow, I didn't even know that was possible, that's pretty cool. I feel stupid for assuming it was impossible to get past without hitting it, but it really looked that way. Anyway, I still think the current 105% run should continue as is and a separate run be created alongside it. That's the great thing about speedruns, they show other people things that are possible in certain games. I didn't think the above screenshot was possible and I was proved wrong. This is yet another reason for a no-barrel run to be made: To show that it it possible and for entertainment. Sorry that you had trouble with Squeals On Wheels, I would have liked to help you with that, but I was away. Glad that you are almost finished with that and that the WIP will be posted soon. Good luck finishing Kremwood Forest!

Ok, finnaly a new WIP arrived. :) I waste a lot of time to beat Arich faster than Sami. But im my best time i was 13 frames slower than him. Anyway... i give up surpass this time. Kremwood Forest complete Next time, Mekanos. I think this world will be hard to perfect, and KAOS is a boring boss. Even in real time i can beat him at TAS timing, with less than 1 sec of error.

The Snes9x+9 with reset recording doesn't seem to work in wine, so I can't do it.

this game doesn't have Diddy, so it seems slower. no problem with that, but I often get the impression that this or that could be done faster.

Bob A: In the same download .zip have a patch to play in Linux. I didn't tested because i use Windows. Sami: I really want to talk to you about this run. I think you can help me to make it perfect. (Even if this mean "start again" :D)

A patch for what?

Well, I finally watched your lastest WIP through Kremwood Forest and it looks awesome! I can't find any major problems, but apparently Sami has found some small problems that probably only cost you a few frames. I am not experienced enough with this game to be able to give you frame-perfect advice, but I Sami can help you perfect any imperfect movements. As for Mekanos, the first 2 levels and the boss are pretty straightforward, but Ripsaw Rage, Blazing Bazukas, and Low-G Labyrinth will probably give you some problems. In Ripsaw Rage, I'm pretty sure it is possible to run through the entire level without waiting for the camera to follow you, but I don't know how to do it. Most likely, you will need a camera hack to help you see where you are going, similar to Nitsuja's Sonic Advance run. In Low-G Labyrinth, because of the low gravity, it is probably better to not roll jump, because you will be in the air for a long time for each jump. Instead, you should either run or do multiple rolls along long tunnels, whichever is faster. I haven't played Blazing Bazookas alot, but If I remember correctly, it is pretty complicated. I hope you don't get too frustrated with this world because you have a water-themed world up next, which most people hate to TAS. Just try to have fun with this run and try to think how awesome it's going to be when it is finished. Good Luck!

For the original Snes9x 1.43+ v9, probably.

I'm trying to figure out the Record reset stuff too, a patch for SNES9x? Arne sent me a file, but it's a .diff file I don't know how to work it I have SNES9x 1.43+ v9, if I patched it to record resets would I have to record from the very beginning or would the work I've done so far be fine if at the end I use the patch to record a reset?
