Finally done with a new recording; I am MUCH MORE satisfied with this one. Enjoy! =) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/519294685/Highness_Diman_RandomPie_IV-Going_Ape_Shit%281%29.gmv

Nice one Diman! Really cool. :) How much time did it save to crawl and shoot that bug? Also, nice variation of dropping under the last platform in 3-3 to get the jump shoes. :)

Man, I wonder if anyone even tested this game before release, it's ridiculous. At any rate, the new WIP looks good.

What? There is something wrong about a slow paced monkey spitting fireballs on beetles? I don't see the problem here. No sir. Not at all. :D Instant kill from anything you say? Well... A flying demon with one of those fire forks (tridents), or a poisonous beetle is something I too would die from instantly I guess. Or maybe a spike up my ass too. Haha! :)

It's been a while, but I finally got some time to contribute to this again. I played on from Diman's last movie and took my first shot at the boss. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/800649368/Highness_Diman_RandomPie_IV-Going_Ape_Shit.gmv I think it can be improved a bit though, I'm pretty sure it's possible to get at least one more shot one the left side before crossing to the right, so I'll probably have another go at this sometime soon.

I was surfing around somewhat randomly, and this game happened to be in the list from mmbossman. I'm not sure if the following is a cheat or a bug, but it wasn't mentioned anywhere in this forum... The following text appeared literally on at least three different websites:
Warp to 8-3 Enter the Options screen and switch the controls to A and C for Fire and B for Jump. Return to the title screen wait for the demos to begin. Watch the demos until you see an extremely dark level. The demo will run for a while and then pause. Press Start to unpause and enter the game. You will die and begin at the Volcano level. Keep spitting to light up the place, otherwise it will be totally dark.
Does this classify as a bug or as a cheat? If it's a bug, it would be a huge timesaver.

That trick is awesome! It isn't a cheat. Similar exploits were used in this movie of Densetsu no Stafy and this run of Arkanoid.

So something like this? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/470137813/Toki%20-%20Going%20Ape%20Spit%20%28UE%29%20%5Bc%5D%5B%21%5D.gmv

Yeah, so this trick really works... Well, it might make sense to put some kind of countdown into the encode, otherwise the viewer might get bored before even seeing the first non-demo action... By the way I will definitely not attempt to do a TAS on this game, because I'm most likely unable to beat this game in real-time... However, I hope to see a TAS which uses the new trick. This might create a new category for this game, but I'm not sure about it. This game is just so insanely-slow-paced, so removing most levels will most likely be a good thing for entertainment.

I'm still lacking time on my hands, but I think it would be cool with an all-stage run, and a warped run. One would miss too many great levels of Toki otherwise. And even though it is slow paced I think that the action going on, plus a gazillion cheats of death is interesting enough to keep the long run and a warped run.

That's certainly an odd way of skipping part of this game, though it gets kinda boring and basically asks to be fastforwarded. It doesn't bother me that much, but I agree that both a glitched run and a full run should be made.

I'd say that there should definitely be a run of the game that plays all stages... I've been looking forward to an improved version ever since Diman's last canceled submission. The warp is cool, but it shouldn't be the only run of this game. How's progress going, by the way?

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) I know. I'm once again putting focus on completing my Ghostbusters run... Two steps forward, one back.

Which version of the ROM and emulator does this file use? I'm getting desyncs in the first 10 seconds of gameplay past the title screen with gensv11a and gensv9.5b. As far as I know, I have the [c][!] version of the ROM. However, I'm glad to see something here! I also saw RandomPieIV's name in the filename, so it seems we've got more authors at this. Good luck!

It worked fine for me using gens_11a and Legend of Toki - Going Ape Spit, The (UE) [c][!]. Did you change the "Country" option to "USA (NTSC)" in "CPU"? I think i remember having this problem long time ago when the option was set to "Auto detect".

Thank you, Eye of the Beholder! That fixed the issue. This looks fairly good so far. Few delays, interesting weapons. Are weapon powerups randomly distributed? What about sneakers? (For instance, could you get a better weapon in the boss fight?) The fight against Stark's machine has you delaying some before shooting the lower heads on the right side. Why is that?
