This run is 3064 frames faster than the previous submission by Brushy and me. It is 3149 frames (52.81 seconds) faster than the current published run.
This run was started because of a 25 frame improvement in lv 1. Funny how things work out.

Improvements from previous submission:

  • 1) Pogoing off an enemy in level 1 - 25 frames
  • 2) Manipulating some enemies to disappear in level 4 and an extra pogo - 18 frames
  • 3) Using a crazy glitch in the moon level discovered by HHS to glitch past half the level - approx 3000 frames!
This glitch takes advantage of the fact the locked door will not allow you to pass. By taking a hit near it, it can eject you into the wall and appear at the top of the screen. The resulting graphical glitches can be manipulated to descend down screen where normally it is impossible to do so. As a result I can go directly to the boss fight, without getting the key, remote control, and using gizmo duck.

Special Thanks:

HHS for discovering this glitch and using it to get to the boss fight. This was a creative use of glitching, way to go man.
Guybrush While my partner was unable to help with this project, I owe him my gratitude for getting me started with this project and for his input on the previous submission.
Truncated & Cardboard for informing me of the level 1 optimization
Hope you enjoy!

Bisqwit: Accepted. Nice glitch you got there, and the movie looks quite tightly optimized generally.

I've always enjoyed Duck Tales and this is a run done possibly to its limits. Yes vote.

It's just too bad the glitch was only available on the moon level, instead of, say Transylvania. The moon is the best piece of music in the game.

I like how it totally messes with the shape of the boss room, screwing up the rat's behavior. It just runs helplessly back and forth. Awesome. :D I have some hope that some day, someone will find a way to glitch into any wall. Now, that would be a glitchfest worth seeing. :D

yeah, that is awsome. Even worse for the boss was that the timing of his running and my pogoing were in line so that holding down+b caused me to always hit him on the earliest possible frame. Which certainly made it one of the easiest boss fights I've ever done :)
