The only problem is that most of the game seems to be menus. At the start, you have to go through a step-by-step game that is not the fastest it could be, but you have to do what the professor says or nothing happens. It's very annoying.
Hmmm, would there be enough variation battle after battle to keep the viewer interested? I played this game before, and I personally don't think it works well with the idea of TAS. That is unless you can manipulate the cards to allow you to whoop the opponent in like 3 turns battle after battle... in different fashion each time. That would be a masterpiece in my opinion.
Maybe I am jumping into conclusions too quickly. Why not make a demo card battle first and see how it goes? BTW anyone who knows this game well enough to give an estimate of the least number of battles to go through?
Try to see if there are any exploits possible to maybe break the game during the tutorial, eg hitting start/select or maybe browsing through other options etc??? Maybe in doing so you may also find a glitch of sorts to skip games... who knows LOL!
If you can manipulate decks... have a deck with 4 pluspowers and manipulate so opponent only has 1 weak basic pokemon. Get as many pluspowers as it takes and BOOM!
you win
I don't know about luck manipulation. Maybe ask LagDotCom.
How it goes: Manipulate your opponent into a bad hand, forcing a weak Pokemon out. Knock out that Pokemon in one turn. Instant win.
It might not be always possible, but expect to see that a lot.
Chamale, you can only use one pluspower per turn.
Here are some RAM locations:

The only way to manipulate your or your opponent's deck seems to be battling them on a different frame. The coin fliiping seems to be in a pre-determined order depending on when you started the battle.
The strategy FF mentions is very possible. I've done it a few times as an experiment (I start with Diglett, he starts with only Rattata, I attach energy and win)
Also, you can use more than one Pluspower can't you?
Of course some people don't put [Rattata/other Fighting-weak pokemon of 40 HP of less] in decks, so you have to have a bigger damage strategy for those battles. I suggest Nidoran Male/Nidorino or Squirtle->Blastoise with a Pokemon Breeder.
Yes, randomness is determined by the frame entering battle. I think pressing a button while shuffling also changes randomness. (it speeds up the animation anyway)
You can shuffle decks faster by holding B, the big problem this game will cause is the legendry birds battle. I'd advise getting a pokemon that requires luck to do a lot of damage throughout the game. Maybe paralazing the birds might do some good. I think there is roughly 30 necessary battles in the game. I'd love to see a TAS on this game.

kirbymuncher, use this:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/mIRC-v6.2-nesvideos.zip
Just extract the zip and execute mirc.exe. I set the settings so that you'll automatically connect to the TASvideos channel, #nesvideos, at irc.freenode.net, though it would be best if you'd take time to get accuainted and check the settings etc.
EDIT: Deleted the file since kirbymuncher got it.
I completed the rock club and the movie can be found here. I only actually did two battles so far. Two points of intrest
1.You need to go to the fighting club first for it's members to appear at the other clubs.
2. If I do someting odd in a battle that involves coin flipping, it is so I can have a better result when attacking because of the coin's predetermined order.
Um, you know you can run if you hold down B while walking. He runs really fast too. Also, at some parts when skipping through text, you can alternate pushing A and B on consecutive frames to speed it up a little.
Also, you can manipulate the cards in the booster packs by waiting frames before doing your last move. I forget if you can do it by pressing A later at the Win/Lose screen. Might be worth considering if you need certain cards for the deck later.
