Well it's the fact that it's very good that made us spent time on this strategy, otherwise I'd just use the previous one. Though it won't change anything at this point because evilchen decided we're using his version which is largely the same (and any further improvement will have to wait until low%v2).

iirc he said he started ceres after hero moozooh and me got the first improvement after jxqs 100% v2.. was that one year ago? damn i can't remember

You mean when you guys did the 49'07? I don't really think that was a whole year ago. EDIT: Taco says: It wasn't. I first found out about the 49'15 in April IIRC.

There are technically 32 different slopes. 6 are just normal blocks, about 8 are completely unused, about 3 or 4 have invalid data, about 8 exist but are completely unused, and there are about 8 that are the slope blocks that exist in Super Metroid that you'd think of slope blocks. There are 2 blocks for a 60 degree slope, 2 blocks for a 30 degree slope, 1 block for a 45 degree slope, 2 blocks for a sort of off-set 45 degree slope, and 1 block for a 'slope' that is actually more of a staircase. You can also flip all the slopes.

There is still one left, but don't keep your hopes up on that one. I think that Taco will pretty much give up Ceres now ;]. And I got Elite Pirates to worry about; the other fecka only wants to give me 5 SMissiles and a normal missile, and we wouldn't want that. Edit: Good news. It just dropped me 6 super missiles. Expect new WIP very soon =)

It contains some new and never before seen scenes especially from the RBO run, but also a few useful tricks from the any%. I encoded it to 30 fps only using 4 passes with each taking around a hour, since I intended this video to be for YouTube only. Let's see if I can make a exception and encode one to 60 fps when I get more time again. I will let you know when it's done.

Nice music to video timing. Great music choice as always. You are an awesome movie maker, Saturn :) Though I am kinda curious about what in the video was new. I didn't see anything that wasn't already known. The only thing that people might not have seen was the ice beam area entrance without blue suit... but this was something that I wrote in detail when cpadolf submitted his run. Which of these demos would save time in the any% run?

Wow, thank you guys! I'm glad you like the vid. Hero: A few timesaver for the any% would be the green door entrance before Botwoon (which is around 10 frames faster than JXQ's), Botwoon fight and exit as mentioned before, the Ice Beam entrance without blue suit (it's much better to see it done perfectly instead of reading a rough instruction), and of course the walljumpless Wave Beam entrance which nobody except of you and JXQ knew about. Also, don't compare yourself to everybody else. Your SM knowledge is one of the largest here after all, so it's not surprising you don't see anything new (this will probably change after my submission though). But for 99,99% of other people, this video for sure contains some stuff never seen before.

To tell you the truth, I actually did not see anything new with your new demo. On the contrary, I saw a lot of old stuff and I know for a fact that at least a few people agree with me. I did. It's a bit slower than shinesparking back, but I badly needed some refills in that room, so it was out of question to use the spark.

I wouldn't suggest to spoil too many tricks very early though, what will be left for our runs otherwise? ;-) AngerFist: Well, if not counting the Old Escape Shaft strategy (which would be new for everybody if I wouldn't post the smv demo before) and the walljumpless Wave Beam, then maybe you're right. I did a mistake to spoil this 2 tricks before making this video, but I just didn't plan to do one back then. It was a quick decision I did only 3 days ago.

Sharing information makes improvement that much easier. If you take twelve people and isolate them with identical projects, each person's unique perspective inherently gives them certain strengths and weaknesses. They'll all finish the same project with radically different results, but not one of them will be as good as all of their projects' best features coming together. What's more, if you sit on it long enough, someone else is bound to make the same discovery and share it with the world anyway. Isn't it easier to just cooperate and forget the competition for glory altogether?

Saturn, watching all your WIP videos now made me thinking, if you wouldn't had made any of those and would've finished the RBO faster without teasing anyone with the Ceres, I think that would've been one of the biggest and most praised TASes ever published. I mean with those WIPs the tricks you did were showed all eventually, but what if you would've just posted the final run and everyone would've seen them all in one smv, I think it would've been epic.

RBO WIP Ridley is dead. Just some short notes; Uhm. At the energy refill station in norfair you can see me using up a 80/100 from a reserve tank, I had gathered energy refills to try if LN was possible with 1 less energy tank. My tests were not completely fruitless; it is possible, but needs some insane ammo/energy management, which I don't possess. I take that pause screen to turn off ice/spazer, so no harm done. Enjoy. Edit: forgot to mention. Took Saturn's route instead. I know, it's slower, but many people said that it was way more entertaining with norfair first. So do I.
