Well you could probably finish the game faster with space/time beam than with current methods (since once you have all beams it's pretty much insta win as you can make the "zebes exploding" sequence play by using it at the right spot) However the X-ray thing should be even faster. Also space/time beam would of course not be allowed for a non severely glitched out run.

Low% might be a good idea. for the time being, I think I just want to get concomitant at moving around in general, so anything worth posting will be a long way off. Thanks for the input on what is verboten as far as sequence breaks go.

Doesn't the space-time beam cause massive lag? That's why it wouldn't be faster in a realtime run (though since lag frames aren't counted on the in-game clock, it could well be "faster" for an in-game clock run).

I wish it was possible to glitch way through the ground to take the elevator straight to Mother Brain without defeating the bosses; if that ever does happen, make sure Samus has at least 3 energy tanks to face Mother Brain's crazy-looking light-wave.

It's possible, it's been done, and nobody likes watching it because it's too slow.

the smv is pretty outdated... I designed an entire new route which does not use the crystal flash to reach tourian. No one has made a full run using the new route, yet. moozooh and evilchen are working on the NBMB run, but it is slightly different than an 'as fast as possible' run. I outlined the entire route a while ago, but if you are really interested I can revise and post you a route to run. You would just have to specify if you are aiming for in-game or realtime.

I guess I dont really get what it is about this game that makes people automatically exclude the idea of a "fastest time, no rules run". I realize it would be on the bland side, but a total glitch fest can be fun once in a while. some of the runs for the zelda games are funny as hell, even though they basically skip to the end of the game. The run I saw looked more like someone played it by hand, and used re-records to execute the glitches. The overall quality of play was not even up to time runner standards of precision.

That's very right indeed. It is halfassisted, no slowdown and savestates only IIRC.

Yeah the run was not intended to be fast, only to showcase the sequence break.

But a glitched out run is being worked on, it's just that the goal of it is to skip all bosses and not to be fastest possible, I guess the authors (moozooh and evilchen) saw it as a better choice. It is almost as fast in the end anyway.

fastest route (at least for in-game) would be something like Morph Ball (needed for missiles) -> Missiles (needed for bombs) -> Bombs (needed to get into Brinstar) -> E-Tank (the diagnol room one, as it's faster to collect) -> Super Missiles (need to get into Red Brinstar) -> Power Bombs (needed to get X-Ray) -> Ice Beam (makes a much faster Tourian) or Speed Booster (needed to skip Crystal Flash) -> the one that you didn't pick for the previous item, -> X-Ray (needed to get into Tourian). So it would be a 9% NBMB. X-Ray isn't collected after Power Bombs because of the lower amount of health.

The E-Tank is not nessesary when using the pause screen glitch, making it 8%. That makes the absolute minimum 7% when skipping ice-beam

>:-/ You actually just should ask yourself: Why do you need to slow down before the Ripper if using the usual route? Because you are too far to the right of it and have to wait until getting to the left first. So the obvious solution should be: Don't bring yourself too much to the right in first place, like you guys did. This makes me feel stupid to never consider it before. :-( You guys rock!

I'd really like to see a fastest in-game all glitches run and/or a 7% low% run.

7% sounds intriguing, but if the only difference is icebeam for speed, it would be too close to the pure speed run. That said, I would look foreward to watching either.

Since entertainment is already out the window with the X-ray glitch, you could just drop the ice beam from the equation and do the ultimate low percentage run. Manipulating drops in order to powerbomb metroids into oblivion might not be a very fun task, however. Going that route, a larger stock of powerbombs would be ideal, but that would also defeat the purpose of skipping the ice beam. :/
