Saturn did you know about this when you said 36 minute 100% run is not achievable?

I am kinda torn on it though, because it kinda ruins the greatest piece of cinema ever put into a video game.

We could always do two smv's making the run branch at this point.
Something similar was done for JXQ's first 100% IIRC for rescuing the animals. Could combine the two, Mother Brain cinema, and animal rescue, and add an extra .smv at the end of the submission.

Yes, but I still didn't thought a 0:36 is possible with it until the Torizo Skip was discovered.

I wish you guys would post a WIP. I mean, how can you bag on someone about hiding tricks if you do so yourself?

They're working on it actively. It won't be accumulating dust for years while a group of others are toiling away to surpass what has already been done. They're not explicitly hiding anything, because they've discussed to a certain degree of detail what routes they're taking, what new methods have been discovered, and so on and so forth. You'll see it when it's finished, and it will be finished. Just sit tight.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

Also to my knowledge no one will have any use of the tricks we have found (since most are only useful for a 100% run)

None of us (besides saturn) have ever hidden a trick with the knowledge that it would be useful in someone else's run. Hence he is the only one who is bagged on. We don't plan on posting a wip. If we found something that would be useful for anyone else's run, we would post that trick specifically, but not the entire run. Like superjupi said, just sit tight ;)

Especially with a sig like "ISOPWNDURBUTTSOMANYTIMESIAMTIREDBUTIKEEPONPWNING!" Texas schools have apparently outlawed spaces as unAmerican and affiliated with Bin Laden.

It's killing me to, but at least they are actively. I think it's fine to hold a new trick while actively working on a run, but if you stop the run or are not making a lot of progress, you should reveal that trick. If people like moozooh held their tricks like Saturn does, the torizo skip might not be public. But moozooh knew that it would be a Huge timesaver in any run, so he made it public.

A few weekends have passed by now. How's the progress going moozooh?

hey Saturn, You are working on the any% real time run, correct? How far along are you now? It would be nice to know how much time you have saved over my run so far. I have a strong feeling that the 23 minute mark can be reached.

moozooh does not continue the the nbmb with me and i fear i cant too.. this might be because no freaking memwatch is working and i dont have enough time to check everything without it to reach your standards of tasing and leeching every subpixel out of each room :'(

Hero: I'm currently working on SM-Redesign again, to finally finish the long awaited WIP5 for it. After it's released I will probably pick SM any% up again and work on both runs alternatively from that time on. As of now I didn't touch SM since my last public TAS demo in January, so I still can't tell how much time is truly possible to save over your, already very optimized run, and whether a 0:23 is really reachable with the realtime route. I still have some doubts about it even now. evilchen: I actually thought moozooh works at least on his low% v2, now that everything until Torizo just needs to be copied. There is no reason to wait for anything else.

The progress isn't going, because at the moment I have very little time and motivation for TASing (as well as just playing anything but 2-3 games). The reason for that is that I'm getting tired at work, and just want to rest in my free time, and thus it applies to both runs equally. When I get the motivation back, I'll return to business (or at least do some short tests for low% in the meantime, since they don't require much time or effort). And no, pre-Torizo segment won't be copied in any case because I'm sure as hell that further improvements are possible. Besides, I promised to improve T&K's WIP in some way, and I am definitely going to do so.

I see, welcome in the busy world. Hopefully you can do at least a bit of progress this year though, so that you may realize that

won't happen. One can promise much, but sometimes we just have to face the facts. Everything that can be optimized already is optimized in the pre-Torizo (that is, till the exit of the mainstreet room) segment. Good luck to at least try though, just don't expect too much of it.

Nothing holds you back to show proof when you're so sure about it, you know. :-) As you see, there is a reason why it didn't happen yet.
