Not enough room to charge a shinespark in his lair. And you can't save one long enough to use it, he has a long intro.

Not to mention Ridley isn't hurt by super jumps.

That's a script action; no damage. ... it just dawned on me I know way too much about SM.
It took THAT to make you realize?

Finally saved that last theoretical frame on the torizoskip. By unspinnig later I enter the room 1 frame earlier but still land on the same frame, this let me get to the bombs without delaying anything in the room. Hooray

Score from CPadolf! Nice find. Thanks for bringing this thread to life.

Has there been a glitch where Samus can skip the Ceres scene?!

A recent discovery, made by Namespoofer from M2K2, a person pretty new to TASing, shows that the Super Missile pack in the... "next to the OTES"-room? can be picked up during the shinespark itself, instead of needing to drop down and picking it up while falling. Get it here Undramaticly, it only saves 1 frame. Still a discovery worth of mention. Furthermore, he also successfully proved that different subpixel positioning for door transitions can change the doorlag during a transition, this is particularily useful for manipulating Phantoon. Also, a potential superoptimization for realtime runs.

so what did he do other ? i thought it wasnt possible on NTSC versions just on PAL (for those which dont know it the R-shinesparks angle is different on PAL)

The only explanation that comes to my mind is very good positioning.

In what way did he prove that a different subpixel can change doorlag (I can't check because for some reason I have been unable to connect to M2K2 for a couple of days)? I don't think that I have ener experienced that, however at some door (think it was the Green Brinstar CWJ room) unspinning at a different time changed lag. (exited with the same subpixel) Maybe pixel positioning can change it though but it still seems a little random since pretty much no door is affected by it, if they are affected by it at all.

He entered the Phantoon room with 2 different subpixel positions, still same pixel positions. Iirc it was .32767 and .40959. The difference was 2 lagframes. And accordingly, Phantoon changed pattern.

Hmm, that is weird. I wonder what determines on which doors it makes a difference or not. Also for those wondering he is working on a low% speedbooster route TAS. It's turning out pretty good.

Well he never posted a public WIP, he only sent one to me. (and maybe a few others, I don't know) I don't think he'll mind if I post it here though. Yeah The last room is not final.
Remove that WIP as soon as possible please.

It didn't contain anything you wouldnt want anybody to see. Just so you know. It ended at the missile lake. (The reason I removed it was because I thought there where some other problem I did not know of, now I know the real reason) EDIT: Lol, and down we go again... sorry for the mess

Well, I managed to snatch it before Cpadolf edited his post, but I'll try to avoid spoiling. So far I understood two things from this WIP: 1) it seems I have nothing to learn from NameSpoofer (yay), since pretty much everything from red Brinstar on was quite average by today's standards (far from bad, though, I'd say it's close to hero's any%v1 or JXQ's 100%v2); 2) the route he takes is similar or identical to mine, which leaves me wondering about the energy management during the next five minutes or so. This is something I've been meaning to test, since two completely different approaches are possible, and I wouldn't be able to estimate without testing it properly (something I have neither time nor motivation for atm). Still, who knows… he might grow into another Cpadolf in a year. :) And it's good he'll at least obsolete the current run, since I'm taking quite the long time to leave it hanging like that.

Well that good then, he asked me for it and I was uncertain... But it seems I was right :)

Well you should have seen how his first try a few months ago looked like, in that case I think you would have been much more impressed, he is improving over himself very nicely.

Well, if you want to discuss anything regarding my run, feel free to reach me using any of the means indicated.

So what did you think about before RB?

Well, I didn't notice any substantial differences from T&K's WIP, except a few minor changes here and there (like in Dachora room in pink Brinstar), which still weren't faster as far as I could see. Most of the pre-RB segment was still very good, though, definitely better than any other run on the site so far. I assume you have used the available smvs as reference at least strategy-wise for that segment, is that correct? Because in that case it's hard for me to say what I think about it that I haven't thought of the original strategies. Let's say I "still like them". Judging from the sudden drop in per-room strategies by the moment of entering RB, it looks like you were doing everything from that point on entirely by yourself, which, if true, is really cool. You show promise. Welcome, btw. :P

Erm.. Wow.. Well.. The first RB visit was very very ugly because.. well.. idk. Wasn't thinking.. coulda jumped and morph/de-morph to enter falling state.. Was probably distracted while doing it O.o That dmg boost was a complete letdown because I had thought of a differnt room strategy using it, but when it didn't work, I forgot to change it >.> I use Cpadolf's Any%v4! as a refernce as to what is a very fast way through rooms, and alter them to my needs (refills, SB, etc.).. Or if I can't get the position req as he does. Used T+K's for beginning, which is actually absurdly easier than nailing Moozooh Jump in my opinion, as it is much easier to position stuff.

Yar.. I'm not nearly as skilled.. If you check framecounts, I lost frames in many rooms compared to theirs, prolly cuz I don't copy. O.o Just entered Maridia btw.. Going to get to Draygon tonight, and probably re-do it all because of something stupid I do.
