Hey, leave me out of this, I'm not a speedrunner! :P The only thing I've intentionally kept secret was the MB skip. I know a plethora of other glitches, but that doesn't mean I know any useful ones. ... Unless they're actually useful and I just don't know it. <_< Hey, maybe someone will find a use for my greyout glitch or x-ray scope shield!

Speaking of realtime, that glitch then you enter the pause screen but go through a door just before it finishes and the screen stays completly black. Would that reduce lag since it wouldn't load the graphics for the room?

Well that would be kinda cool, but of course extremely boring even if it worked... Also kej, any chanve you might show any of those glitches (curious)?

All the graphics and everything is still loaded. The only difference is that the brightness of the SNES is set to 0 - this is how the fade-out to the pause screen is done. It is completely unrelated to the fade-out between rooms. The fade-out between rooms is done by manually changing almost every individual color every frame during the fade-out. Which causes a good deal of unavoidable lag, as it's doing a bunch of math with the color intensities. Greyout glitch is triggering the x-ray scope and reserve tanks at the same time, and letting the reserve tanks finish while the x-ray scope is still running. I've only done it by getting hit while inside a door, that might be the only way to do it. It completely messes up layer 3. And makes the x-ray scope actually work at a good speed o_O. This causes some really bizarre graphic effects when you use power bombs (and it affects how they hit stuff too), and certain combinations of power bombs and crystal flashes can cause some other strange effects (Permanent power bomb explosion that never goes away, for one. I've triggered a crystal flash during a crystal flash too, though I had to set my max energy to below 50). X-ray shield requires the greyout glitch is on and there's some requirement about the room's Layer 2 that I forget, but it works in most rooms (Not Mother Brain's room though... I was hoping it would mess up her last attack but it won't even trigger in her room). Turn on the x-ray scope, switch off of it, then turn the scope off and immediately hold run again. It'll make a column of light that you can kinda control. As far as I know it has no effect on anything.

That's something I didn't expect to happen right away. Awesome timesaver, this make me wait the 100% even more! I'm just wondering can't you position yourself the way with the grapple beam that after the crystal flash you'd already hit the door transition by coming to kneeling position? Impossible?

Gay cable company, been without internet for 2 days! Need help.. Been stuck at Gold Pirates for the last 2 days, just having a lot of trouble getting them where I want them for a 1-spark kill, AND my energy is 33, which means it must not go below 30 or they will only drop energy. Any tips? And no, not re-doing my lake entrance >.>

Oh and NameSpoofer, welcome to TASvideos. I'm glad you decided to work on a low% run, since moozooh won't finish his one in the next 5 years if he continues it in this pace. You do fast and promising progress already, and I'm looking forward for your run. Good luck!
Welcomed. Luck very much needed, and this will be the last time I do this bullshit with the SpeedBooster and energy management. I'm doing Ice/15supers next run and HBJ-ing over the lake. At least I got Cpadolf and Taco for awesome help when the metroids of doom come.. Now who's got some easy way of sparking these fucking pirates? And you're at the sidehoppers? Sounds like the only thing you can do without refiling is charging a spark and try to get the pirates in the right position that you can hit them both with the echo, but you must spark attached to the roof. That way you don't need energy go to 29 to stop the spark and you'll probably lose 1 energy, keeping you at 32 and allowing other drops besides energy. Sorry if this doesn't work or I'm not helpful, but this is the only thing I can think of, seeing your ammo.

Yes but the thing is that it wasn't a L+R walljump (I have the smv).

If you plan to kill both Pirates with one speed-echo, then you will have to sacrifice "alot" of time in any case to get the Pirates in the right position. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend that. The more rational strategy is to kill the first pirate with 3 Supers, and the last one with a spark, just like I did in my 3rd RBO demo, or slightly different like hero in his any%v2. I'm pretty sure that refilling the additional 3 Supers would be faster in the pre-Ridley room anyway, if needed.

Decided on a completely new route after I realized this cold truth.. re-recording from the norfair elevator, and had a crazy idea that involves some Kejardon-type shit.. Taco thinks it won't work tho.. but yarr.. still worth a shot!

Found a weird glitch today, my guess is that it has something to do with screen positioning but I don't really know. And it only seem to work in very specific places (only know one room so far, and in that it only works in one direction and not at all positions). Hmm...

I didn't get it. Why should it hit anything if there's nothing near.

What? The glitch is that at certain positions if I shoot on the earliest possible frame all the time every other shot is a blank, I loose a supermissile but i doesn't actually leave the armcannon (I think it exists for 1 frame and then disperses for some reason.)

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, and if not I'm sorry, but I'm confused about the current TAS's for this game. I am looking for the fastest non-100% TAS of this game. That takes out the all items TAS and the Minimalist (I want bare minimum but by that I mean the least you can get to get the fastest time possible). So that leaves the other too. What exactly is the difference between them? And which is more entertaining?

Certain events in this game pauses the in-game timer. The slower of the two movies aims to get as many of these as possible in order to get the clock at the end to read as low as possible. The other, quicker movie ignores these events for the fastest real-time movie, even though the clock at the end registers as having more time put into it. As to which one is more entertaining? You decide. Some like the real-time route, while others like the in-game route.

The game has a internal clock that counts actual gametime. (a.i it does not increment during door transitions, item pickups the intro or during lag frames) The goal of my movie is to finish the game with the lowest possible time counted by that internal timer, thus I take a rout that has more doors and more items to pick up, because the time added by that is not taken into account. The goal of hero of the days movie on the other hand is to simply finish the game as fast as possible, a.i making the actual movie as short as possible. So basically the difference is the route. Which one is more entertaining is subjective, mine has a higher average entertainment rating but you might like the other one better. But I deeply recomend you to watch both instead of just picking one :)
