...why rapidshare
I am so sorry my friend, I am uploading to mediafire as I write this. I will edit this post once its done. I wasn't aware at all that rapidshare has this stupid 10 download limit. Edit: Seems like mediafire has a 100mbyte limit for uploading a file :) I am uploading to Filefront now. Edit 2: Here it is again: http://files.filefront.com/Supermetroid+tas+100+nocufmkv/;12775336;/fileinfo.html

Very awesome, many thanks :D EDIT: Yesterday Kejardon posted some footage of his ongoing hack project, which can be seen here. I gotta say, it looks like there is plenty of potential for TASing in there :)

Aww, the video froze (while the audio continued) for me while Samus was in the room right before the one you normally first get powerbombs in. It didn't appear to fix itself if I fast-forwarded, either. Did this happen to anyone else? Also, shinesparked walljumps look awesome. :) Edit: reopening the video and skipping past that point worked...but if I skip to a point too close to where the video froze, then VLC crashes. Weird.

Alternatively you can transfer the file into the free 'Collector's Zone'. For some reason you can only sign up for this free type of account -after- you upload a file (then transfer said file into the zone). They probably didn't want it to be too easy to get to. However once you have a collector's account you can login there anytime.

Nope, it runs fine for me from start to end.

OmnipotentEntity: Seems like you don't know the difference between a on-topic question and pointless bickering. Please check the definition of a "question" here, in case you wonder what it means. Angerfist: Nice work. Will check the video once the slow download is finished. And yeah, Kej's project will for sure be great when it's done. Nice demo.

Maybe it was already writen here in the Board, and I have not read all. So sorry when I ask. But how is the Glitch at the end working? Move by Mother Brain with only 1HP after she attack with the Beam. Normaly you lay on the ground and can't do anything, till the Metroid die. But here you can still walk and shot, and you Kill Mother Brain near the same time as the Metroid dies and without the last Laser Shot.

VLC doesn't handle MKV with chapters well; use Media Player Classic instead: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/real_Alternative.htm

That would be fine if I were using Windows, but as I'm on a Mac, it doesn't do me much good. I appreciate the sentiment, though.

Derakon: Try Perian. I haven't actually used this for MKVs, but it's great for other type of files.

I heard there's rumors on the Internets that Perian does indeed allow QuickTime to play MKV: http://installingcats.com/2008/01/01/play-mkv-movies-on-quicktime-in-mac-os-x-leopard/ FYI, Perian can also be installed in Tiger.

Hey, TakaM -- where's your avatar from? Looks like Link to me, but I've not seen sprites of him that look like that. MMBossMan: I'll give Perian a shot if I run into trouble again. Thanks for the pointer.

If you're not wearing any suits, you can glitch the game into going into the "baby metroid" part of the fight without being forced to kneel, as long as you have a certain amount of health. IIRC you have to stay off the ground during the part where you would be kneeling normally. Haven't done it in a while, can't say for sure. Easier to just go test it out.
I will not use self-reference in my signature.

Yeah, basically you just de-equip all suits and make sure to stay above 100 hp after the hyper beam (the beam drains 600 hp without varia on), and under some amount I can't remember, probably 300. Then you will be able to press up while kneeling and samus will stand up. There are a couple of points in the fight where you will be forced into kneeling position again (until the cutscene ends this time) unless you are in the air when it happens, like the moment where the metroid attaches itself to Mother Brain.

Matty: You need at least 7 Energy Tanks and have both suits deequipped before the final drain beam attack starts. After that you can stand up by simply pressing upwards, while MB still triggers the big Metroid cutscene. Check this video for more info and a optimal demonstration of that trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol7c5WOFLIg EDIT: Posted before seeing Cpadolf's response due to being busy during the writing.

Thanks for the discribtions. I saw, that the suits were unequiped in the TAS near the end. But I have wonder why. Now I understand all, I think. Nice 100% TAS, a bit strange without all cutscenes, but thats speedup the video and its a bit more entertainment.

It's particularly impressive to note that the door transitions and item-get pauses account for about 30 of the 78 minutes in the original movie. The game's a lot faster when you remove all that stuff!

Hi everybody! I'm discovering the TAS ans I've just seen the super metroid TAS from Hero of the day and cpadolf (one TAS per player) and I started one just for fun. I cleared Ceres' escape with 46.5 seconds left it was very fun to watch it, but... i have a little problem with one trick : back-down fall. I read when i fall with not somersaulting i can aim down without losing my horizontal speed by pressing simultaneously down and back however Samus doesn't aim down but just turn around :/ wich is not really what i expected. I explain what I do : In the room after the morph ball's room, i jump forward and destoy the blocks then i try to aim down by pressing on the same frame down and back in order to keep my jumping speed and destroy the blocks in down of me but here Samus just turn around. can anyone explain me the problem? a problem in my frame sequence? thx for your answer.

I'm no TAS'er but I think what you're talking about only works when you run off a platform without jumping

It also works after unmorphing in mid air, after taking damage form an enemy in mid air (as long as you don't turn around to avoid the damageboost), after a shinespark and after killing an enemy with grapple beam in mid air.

I don't have the codec for watching MKV files now. I used to, but having it installed somehow messed up the rest of the codecs that was already installed; For example, I can't watch the regular AVI and MOV files that I was able to earlier. As a result, I uninstalled all of the things related to MKV. Now, I am just back to using the media player classic (and the k-lite codec pack). I prefer to watch it on an emulator anyway. Is the SMV file available for download ?
