Anyone willing to give me access to a dedicated ftp account? I've finished the escape and I'm guessing you guys want to see how fast it is :O)

I smacked together a small script a few weeks ago that can share a similar role. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php It only accepts SMV and FCM at the moment, but it automatically extracts fields from the file to create an information page, and allows a free-form text comment field.

That's from this thread (which has info about an FTP site you can use) : http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1815 although DeHackEd's is more specially designed for this sort of thing.

Well, wow, it looks good, i mean really good. You are .30 faster at the scape than teri's run, and after the morphball you are almost 1 second ahead of him, good work, keep it up. Full movie is going to be awesome.

Really nice run. Very good analyzing of every move to make it as fast as possible. Keep it up!

Getting morph ball part looks faster, good job. Why don't you get Samus to "DO" something when you need to wait? Try view Teri's movie, you get the idea..

Some comments: After around frame 9000, if you stop further up the stairs you can get through the door 1 frame faster (as you do later around frame 9600). Probably not worth fixing since it might screw up the randomness you rely on for a larger speed gain, but it (stopping too close/far from doors) is something to look out for elsewhere. When you stand still on the right side of the room (and some other times), I realize you're going to edit that out of your AVI, but couldn't you do something more entertaining than standing there at times like that? You only have to end up in the same spot for editing purposes, it's not necessary to remain motionless the whole time. Really great work overall.

Wow,your movie is 1second+9frame faster than mine, at getting MorphBall. I' want to see your complete movie. And , me and Sippu(My friend) would like to see your own tricks.so good luck. :) offtopic: May I ask you, michael flatley? If you try to make Any%-Movie, Do you think that to reach 00:26(Clear Time) is possible, or impossible? My idea is impossible, at least now... How about you?

I know so many tricks that haven't been used yet. They'll be shown as I release updated smv files. I do believe your 27 minute any% run can be improved to 26 minutes, perhaps even more. Kraid can be killed even faster, Phantoon can be one-rounded (oh yeah!), and I'm sure I'll find secrets for the other bosses. I think half of the time you need to get to 26 minutes can be found in the boss fights alone... I won't be making an any% run, I'll leave that up to you :O) In the next few days I'll hopefully record to the first set of super missiles. You'll be very surprised at how much more can be done to improve your time. My goal is to get there 10 seconds faster than you ;O) BTW, anyone want to try and figure out how to one-round Phantoon? The solution is so beautiful and elegant. So simple and yet so complex. I'll give one hint and that's it :O) http://www.answers.com/doppler+shift&r=67

Wow, I was surprised!Really? BTW, to kill phantoon in one-round is very mysterious and wonderful. Hm, I know "Doppler" , but I have no idea, now.(^^;) Ok, I could understand your all of comments, thanks! And we'll wait your movie , or think about Phantoon.

Oh,,I'll keep it in my mind.(^^;)

If it will be truely 10 seconds faster , yes, I'll be very surprised! Thanks for reply!

So you increase the rate that you can hit him by moving quickly towards him. But what weapon do you use?

For Kraid I suppose you mean this. No I didn't bother to optimize it at all, and no I didn't really try to hard to kill it on the first time he opens his mouth. I figure it might be possible though, but then again to me it seems he just gets his mouth jammed open and he cannot be hurt.

No that won't work, there is not enough health in this run to be hit by anything in Kraid's room. Also, seems my way is faster anyway :O/ Small update, does everyone feel my way through the last room is close to perfect? Also, play the segment where I'm falling in the room prior to the first set of missiles in super slow-mo. Nice, eh? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/14/m3.smv

When you cross over the elevator platform right after getting the morph ball, what you do is 4-5 frames slower than running across it normally. (edit: Uh, I wasn't intending to kill the thread or anything, I was just pointing it out in case you wanted to know. The rest of it looks great to me.)

Argh, I did not know of the frame counter display. I thought you could only view the frame count externally. This changes things. I may start recording over again now knowing I have access to this new feature. I believe that if perfectly done the morph ball way is faster. I did not execute the move perfectly, though.

Basically everything you've done so far seems very optimized to me (I tried going through a few rooms in different ways and was almost always either slower by a few frames or exactly the same speed), but I also wouldn't be too surprised if this enables you to shave off a few more frames from what you've done so far. It should definitely help for the rest of the run, in any case. Oh, and keep in mind that each save state contains the entire movie in it up to that point, so you're allowed to load states that are along different branches in time (i.e. out-of-order) and each one will restore the part of the movie that got to that point. So you can make a save state of each way to do something, then load the one with the lowest frame count and keep going.

I've shaved off ten frames upon the entrance to Ridley, trying to get better (or worse) so I can have a good "random" setup in later rooms.

WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!!! I spent so many hours today trying to repeat the same escape I did in my previous run on the new run I'm doing. I just can't get it to work. However, through my anguish I've figured out the most revolutionary trick/exploit/timesaving manuever in this game. This is absolutely crazy and I have no idea what it will mean for this game. I'm thinking 5+ minutes can now be saved for any kind of run. No joke guys!

Well we are very interested in seeing what crazy things you did come up now with. I mean we all thought that Teri's run was already perfect, but you show us that there is more perfect than perfect :-). (but please also make it entertaining in pause phases) cu Fabian

Btw, earlier you asked if anyone could do the jump to Kraid's Lair without a wall jump. Heres a short movie without the wall jump. Not sure if it's faster or not. I didn't 100% optimize it, but it's about almost as fast as possible.

You cleared the Kraid gap, good for you :O) If you pull out of your ball at a certain point the maneuver is faster. I still don't know if that is faster than a well-timed wall jump.

5minutes!? and Really "Any kind of run" !? If it is true, my best time 00:27-minutes is very slow movie. ...Wow, I should be glad or sad? (:P (Edit) >Wall jumping or morph. I think that Morph is faster than wall jumping, but I'm not sure, sorry.
