Well so far everything is pretty straightforward. If you noticed I skipped the charge beam. This is a new idea I just came up with tonight. I believe I won't be needing it until I come back to the charge beam room with a super bomb. To answer your question, I've got absolutely everything planned out up until Maridia. Once I hit Maridia the run will get very very difficult. EDIT: Anyone see any room for improvement? I'd hate to continue recording if anyone knows a faster way to do something. I'd rather go back and change my error now.

the only thing i could see that i think is faster is that when theres an enemy close to an exit its faster to get hit and propulsed then to avoid the enemy and run to it right? you do it in a lot of places, but some places you dont. i wasnt sure if this was because you would be low on health or if it simply doesnt work at those spots but i assume so btw nice kraid fight, pretty fast =O

Enemy knockback is rarely of any significance due to the new speed Samus has when pumping her arms. In some situations you save a lot of time, in others you only gain a frame or two. In many situations the knockback actually slows you down. I've tested every situation and have decided the best way to go. As it is my run doesn't allow for additional knockbacks. If I lose any more health I will trigger the ominous low-health warning sound before I reach the mini-kraid on my way down to Crateria. If this happens the mini-kraid will give me health instead of 5 super missiles. I need the super missiles.

Would it be possible to enter the room where you get the bombs with a mockball in order to maintain the speed? I noticed that you stand still for a breif moment before entering the room. I suppose you could jump a bit earlier to launch away the 5 missiles needed to open that door and land in a mockball. :) Would only mean a couple of frames though.

A couple of frames may be all that is needed!

I thought the bomb room door only locks after you get the bombs. In that case, maybe you could use the chozo as a platform, and use the arm pump+mockball to get extra speed on the way out. I don't know if the item ball itself can be used as a temporary platform to get some extra acceleration, but it just might do it.

Samus moves slower in the mockball than in the arm pump.

But if the closing door is activated by GETTING the bombs, then that probably doesn't matter. Well, could it affect turnaround speed?

The closing of the door is activated by the getting of the bombs, not by entering the room.

If I jump early and fire the rockets early then I'm losing speed while in the air. I'll be getting to the door later. This is the speed order of various maneuvers. Running while pumping arms Running Mid-air after a jump Mid-air + duck, which converts to mockball I only mockball if the frames gained by the maneuver are greater than the frames I would save by running faster.

I spent several hours working on Kraid to save 1/5 of a second. I don't think this can be done any faster and I'm so glad to have him out of the way. I finally have the speed booster. Will post an smv of my progress once I defeat Phantoon. At the rate I'm going this may take a while :O/ Expect lots of new maneuvers and look forward to the Phantoon battle.

Some pics and notes... 1. Would it be faster if you steer directly in front of the door and shoot at it after landing? 2. Is it possible to shoot the first block while falling? Maybe it doesn't matter because you have to jump anyway... PS: You only kill the enemies that are in your way, not like in this movie. Is it faster that way? Anyway, looks very nice. :) Keep it up!

How would your suggestion for 1 be faster than what's currently done? I don't see the logic behind it (you'd still have to wait for some time as the door opens). Andreas

Oh, I forgot one thing: In Kraid's Lair you take a hit by the spikes. Any special reason for that? A Runnelid: Yeah, makes sense. -_-'

Maybe you thought you could build up more acceleration?

No, I thought that you could go through immediately, like in Zero Mission. Good idea though.

creaothceann, I think the two scenarios you mentioned are close to frame-perfect. There may be room for improvement but not in the ways you mentioned. I don't kill enemies that are not in my way because I'm a minimalist. I'm doing this run for pure speed and nothing more. I hit the spikes in Kraid's Lair for show but have since redone the battle. I ended up needing the energy.

Do you plan to also release the Etecoons and the Drachoras (from the room where you get the morph bomb) when escaping Zebes? Fine job so far, btw. Very fast indeed. > /L.Tr.

I highly disbelieve that, since it doesn't affect the 100% run and only wastes time for a timeattack.
