Or both, maybe. Teamwork made the awesome (short) Super Mario World run. I looked at MF's first post, and he has a list of glitches he was planning on using. The only one he hasn't described or done yet is "Platform yank". So hopefully if he's cool with someone continuing his WIP, he can also let us know what that trick is. Unless it is already known - in that case, I, the idiot, should be ignored.
That is an excellent idea! But I think the problem there is the communication :D Terima is japanese and cannot speak that well english.

Yeah but he's good at figuring out what we are saying, and vice versa. Hell, if I had any Super Metroid skills, I'd pick up this run. I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, this is far from the case.

Umm... isn't jecy Japanese as well? Either way, you shouldn't really be making plans to replace mf just yet. How would you feel if you disappeared for a month and came back to find people trying to weed you out of the picture, minus your contributions? Just give him some time. If you're in such a rush to see this movie, make it yourself. Has anyone actually tried contacting him by any medium other than this forum?

This actually is the last thing I want. This movie has the best chance in his hands, I believe.

No, although he did respond to a post I made in the DKC Competition run forum, so he is still around (yay!). Hopefully we'll hear from him soon.

This is just about the strangest emulation-type quirk I have ever seen. It's kinda like Schrödinger's cat in a way.

Reading the last posts here I only want to say: We can't compare our Super Metroid times with the one of "Red Scarlet". After all she did this time in a real and skill-based speedrun. Super Metroid requires extremely much skill to come even close to her time and also to "Smokey's" 36 min any-% run if you play Live. I have much respect of the skill this 2 persons shown in their runs. We should compete in our category and try beating the game as fast as *theoretical* possible. After playing the game through several times in last month (to test how fast I can beat it) I got an interest to start a tool assisted any-% run of it in the next days using the newest speed-tricks (thanks to Michael) to improve the existing time again unless someone already make such a run (Teri?). What do you think?

I'm interested in seeing what you can do with this. And even if others are working on it or will work on it soon (which I'm not sure they are), competition can't hurt.

You're right. I will start it tomorrow then. But again, since this is a very hard game to optimize (many different move-possibilities) I would say this run will take me at least 4 months to complete depending on my interest to record further. I also want to say that I will use the "Murder-Beam" glitch against Ridley in lower Norfair *if* it will save any time. I'm sure finding the best route and optimizing everythig will be a hard but also exciting work.

To Saturn Hi. I haven't started to make a new any% movie. Most of the reason is TIME... Now I'm looking forward to see your movie (and MF's one). Good Luck, you will be the FASTEST :)

Hi Terimakasih, nice to see you again :) A few days ago I noticed you have your own BBS somewhere and you discussed Super Metroid there.

Teri: Thanks, I will give my best. Also hope to see Michaels run but I doubt that he will finish it soon...

Allright first news: I did it till Ridley in "Ceres - Space Colony" and could improve the run by only 6 frames (and 4 more frames by better menu entering at beginning which doesn't matter the ingame time though) compared to Mchaels run. There are so many possibilities to move in this first easy rooms that I fear it will be harder than I thought later. I will also post WIPs of this run. The first one after the Chozo Statue Fight where I get the "Bombs".

Able to improve MF's run? Oh man I'm excited. Saturn, what would you estimate the final time on an any% run to be with the new tricks that have been found? Good luck with this run!

Its very difficult to improve Michaels run, but I found some extreme move-combinations to save this 6 frames. It's hard to say which time is possible to reach but I would guess around 22-24 min maybe even more.

Thanks guys. I recently found a Super Metroid Editor Programm called SMILE and now I want to make a quick Hack of this game. I will continue the speedrun after I finish the hack. It will be a hard-type one for absolute Metroid-Masters and I doubt there are many player who would have the skill to beat it on Live conditions.

..because the original's already easy, so why bother? It's like adding a "win game" button to Mario. Isn't holding right and hitting A occasionally already enough?
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.
