Hello gentlemen. 20% of your weapons are belong to Samus.
I guess I have no chance to survive and must take my time until you complete this run, JXQ. ;) The Croco room and your speed tricks were just insane, but I have a small concern about your actions at frame 46500: was it possible to do a mockball there? Other than that, everything's great! And another thing I've noticed is the Kraid room in your run compared to that of Michael. Since the appearance of Samus' visor (tiny green light) up to the first frame when the room blacks out totally, the whole sequence length is 1277 frames. In Michael's run it was 1290 frames, but the fight itself (measured from the first frame Kraid opened his mouth after the spazer shot to the first frame he closed his mouth after the final blow was delivered) was about 3 or 4 frames faster. Honestly, I don't get it: your fight was slower (or at least not faster), but still you managed to recover that, and 13 more frames? How?! When?!!!?! Where?!?!!?!?!? Looking forward to next 10%. :D BTW, I didn't expect you to do this segment so fast, so, as Highness said, it really is a happy surprise! If I'll have enough time and motivation, I'll do some other frame measurements.

Awesome WIP! I like the part right before entering Kraids lair where you shoot all 3 Super Missile Blocks to keep max speed, also the room where you get Kraids energy tank is great improved and especially the first heat room where you use a wall-bombjump combo to get up even faster. Great tricks here and there and I look forward for the next WIP! Keep it up man!

It depends on the distance of the mockball part. To use a mockball you have to sacrifice a couple of frames to gain the needed momentum which I guess was more than starting a normal morph ball immediately here. If the shaft would be longer the mockball would probably be faster.

Watched it, loved it. Nothing further. Didn't see anything strange. >That way someone could use the info to make a Super Metroid page if there was demand for it (kind of like in the Super Demo World submission). I'm sure there is demand for it. You could make it yourself as you go along. Don't you have editor rights? If not you can get them. Or I can put it up if you write it.

I'm about to finish the last accurate Lower Norfair testings and it seems that it will be more harder than I thought first. I will calculate how many items I should pick up so it will be just enough to win against Ridley in the limited time without having more items than absolutely required. After the testings I will continue the serious recording with a safer feeling. It will still take some time but I think the next WIP should be done soon if everything goes well.

By the next WIP you mean a teaser, right?

I won't watch another teaser. I think those ruins more than a real WIP.

Physically this can't be true. A real WIP shows everything from beginning which remains unchanged in the final run, a teaser shows only parts of the run so the other parts can only be seen in a complete run for the first time which leaves many things open.

Yeah. But a teaser spoils too much if you ask me. I don't even like trailers for regular movies.

The time the mockball takes to perform isn't worth the frames gained.
Kraid stuff
I saved a lot of time in lag by not showing off as much when Kraid emerged. However I lost most of it in order to collect the items I did after he died.

Well a teaser could be worse if it shows only the best parts, because then you expect everything to be that good...

Well, I aim exactly for the opposite here, but still try to show nice parts. I ensure that the parts seen in the teasers are not the only best parts and of course I try to keep the high quality through the entire run not only for the teaser-parts. :-)

Ah, that was what I thought of. I'm impressed by your optimizing strategies, BTW. They look fresh (tricks like those three super missiles shot at the enter of Kraid's lair were something that could benefit even normal speedruns, let alone TASes) and they actually save a lot of frames, establishing a new standard in Super Metroid runs (I don't know what Saturn's final work will show us, but I sincerely hope it'll be at a comparable level of quality). Keep it up, both of you guys!

Based on JXQ's wips and Saturn's teasers, there is no doubt in my mind that both runs will be of incredible quality.
They're off to find the hero of the day...

Thanks hero :) Ok I wasn't planning on posting at 30% because there isn't too much new, but the demand is there, so why not? Same link as before, which is here. I'm pretty much falling ass-backward into missles for this stretch, which is good because I burn through some of them on Phantoon. Phantoon is probably going to be the coolest part of the run, big props to Michael for that trick, hopefully he visits here again someday to read that. There is also some good luck manipulation to make sure I have plenty of Super Missles throughout this segment, since my maximum is still only 5. That will change very soon, though. A couple route differences here, but from the high-jump room to the top-left room in Brinstar that Michael didn't visit, I gained 120 frames, and from Crateria to Phantoon's death I gained 41 more. I also got extremely lucky on the item spawn following Phantoon without pausing, so that will gain some time as well. 40% is the gravity suit, so I'll probably update again once I'm there.
