so.. ive got some question .. hope everybody knows outta the new 0:32 speedrun or anywhere else.. the bluesuit with the R button, its actually a bluesuit but you can't move.. any solutions why? i fooled arround with that nearly one week now.. cant get anything to work with it is there a way to use it anywhere for anything? maybe a way for a new free-jet-jump like at draygoon->crystalflash? for any which dont know .. run till you have your echoes .. push DOWN and R at the same time .. or just hold R while pressing down works too sometimes - after that dont move - you'll glow blue but cant do anything

That's temporary-bule-suit, not the real blue suit. You can lose it easily, for moving foward or releasing R button or stand up etc. Only way to retain it is to jump virtically, to move foward until Samus is jumping, to morph near ground surface and demorph with pressing R or L. Also, you can turn around only by using x-ray. This trick was discovered by our NINTENDON! community (MR. BananaOyaji). And I have researched it very much. But still, it is'nt able to charge super jump from temporary-blue-suit. So this trick is very limited for use. Only one point it contribute is raising NBMB persentage. If you retain this, you can get Maridia mainstreet missile pack. (but it is too difficult to peform in console play.) This method raises NBMB persentage by 74%.

By the way, Catnap, do you know if Hotarubi or someone else from your community is going to make an unassisted speedrun in another category (100%, low% or segmented any%)? That would certainly be interesting to know.

In our community, active console speedrunner is Hotarubi only now. Another player Sippu is retired. It seems that hotarubi will make another speedrun again, but haven't decided what category to make or when.

Yep, this is the temporary Blue Suit. Old news actually: http://www.metroid2002.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3941 Kejardon discovered it more than a year ago. When planning the Maridia part of the RBO run last year I messed around with it alot in the hope to get a charge and shinespark through Mt. Doom, but as already said, it isn't possible, unfortunately. Anyway, here a smv for those who want to see how to get the Maridia mainstreet Missile with the temporary Blue Suit in NBMB: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2753/Temporary_Blue_Suit.smv

BananaOyaji discovered it in 21 Aug 2005. Little bit earlier than kejardon did. 8) maybe they discovered it independently. EDIT: I saw that movie. wow.. that's cool.

<edit>This glitch does not allow you to go from the very beginning of the game directly to the end. You need to have the plasma beam so you have to go through the majority of the game. It seems to work similarly to the reset glitch, except, instead of causing the game to reset all the events in the game it triggers the end sequence of the planet exploding. It only works (as far as I have seen from fooling around with it) when you enter a room which would be on the same route as the normal escape path of the game, though I've gotten stuck in walls and stuff going through a few doors.</edit> I was fooling around using the VAR/Reset glitch and I stumbled upon a way to make the planet start exploding without fighting ridley or mother brain. I'll post more about it and a video ASAP. I don't know if anyone would actually incorporate this into a time attack or not, but if they do it would save A LOT of time. This isn't a joke topic or anything, I just don't have time to post anymore details at the moment cause family and friends are here!! but I really had to get this out there!!

This is known about. It's fairly well documented. I think the best clear time was something like 0:04, but that was unassisted. Either way, it requires outside modification of files, so it wouldn't be OK as a TAS. edit: Well, let's see what you have. Your method could be something totally new and exciting.

I just kinda did it by accident while fooling around with the VAR beam glitch. I didn't use anything outside of the game. Here are some quick screens I took, if this looks like the other glitch you were referring to then alright, if not then hmmm. http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/1.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/2.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/3.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/4.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/5.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/6.jpg http://www.freewebs.com/bigbrooks/metroid/8.jpg

Is that because of faulty emulation?

It's not from faulty emulation. I'm pretty sure someone should TAS with this ending just to see how fast it is. Using this method would be alot faster, seeing as you'd skip the ridley and motherbrain fights and you wouldn't need to get as many upgrades and stuff...It's just using the murder beam, basically >_> what's the problem there?

If it works how you say it does, Tas it. It will go down in history next to http://tasvideos.org/352M.html http://tasvideos.org/328M.html http://tasvideos.org/466M.html As runs that totally WTFPWN the intended mechanics of the game. Funny that the zelda series has 3 of the first 4 games getting the shit kicked out of them through strange bug abuse, no two abusing the same glitch.

I don't really think I'd have the skill/patience to TAS metroid. You'd have to play up to the plasma beam pretty much the same, though I'd imagine a few changes would be made to the standard route.

I just thought to upload this smvs for Mr. Relentless for his upcoming 100% v2 run, in case he doesn't know how exactly to execute the following: Missile mockball at full speed (after Gravity Suit) Draygon 2-round kill They aren't 100% optimized but you get the idea.
