I can actually play this game pretty well nowadays. Like, I used to have lots of trouble with lots of levels, but then while making the TAS I'd just randomly play the level I was TASing 20 times because I needed every excuse I could find to not actually do some work :) Like the Ice Igloo, horrible level at first but now I don't think I could die there if I tried.

I second those three. --I never got to WW4, Ice Igloo, Pipe World 4, or any of the Star World/Boo's World levels. :( I'm going back for them though. Other levels I found hard: Desert World 4 Water World 3 (not really that hard, but I ended up losing my cape and fireflower) Crystal Castle Reznor's Fortress

There are a lot of levels that I find hard as well. Were some that I could never beat... I have finished the game, but not 100% yet. I started to rewatch your run, JXQ and Fabian. I'm just as impressed that regular, great run!

I've achieved 116 exits 100% speed not using savestates, although I did cheat by looking at the 120 exit TAS for the solutions to many of the levels :) Most of Big Boo's world was horrible for me, especially the tower, but I had collected 99 lives from the mushroom houses previously, so I had lots of tries. Some tough levels for me: Desert Pyramid Pipe World 5 Bowser's Castle Pretty much all of BB's World By the way, has anybody besides me discovered the alternate area in Big Boo's secret? **Spoilers for how to get there** In the ceiling of the first room you enter, above the first set of ? blocks, there's a space you can fly through (you can't see it, though). If you can fly all the way to the top, you'll be above the screen. Fly to the right, and eventually you'll come to a new area! **End spoilers**

Very cool thanks Chef, I didn't know about this. When I got to the secret area, I tried flying <- again, under the normal level and flew all the way until the level ended. No secrets there unfortunately, just empty space.

I'm at Chocolate Island 1 now. I'm very happy to have the devil level (FoI2) behind me, I will never have to touch it again. I almost managed to delete the two latest levels (FoI3b and Castle #5) because I'm an idiot, but the savestates in snes9x saved my ass, so no harm done. I like that program.

Hey Fabian, to keep you on track, I propose we have a race to see who can finish the game first. For every level you do, I will have to do that level small (no powerups) non-tool. I'll start figuring out a route for CI1 if you're down with this.

Haha you're going DOWN!! Some of these levels coming up are going to be a serious pain to optimize small though. ;) And I have one problem: the file I'm using is a 96 file which means it has the Switch Palaces activated, which is against the rules for the Individual Level Runs (I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone here). Does anyone have/know where I can get a file that is as far as possible in the game without Switch Palaces?

Sorry. I imagine most files where all/most levels are done would also have completed the switch palaces, since it would be weird to skip them in normal game play when aiming for 96 exits.

I remember I did a 92-exit game without switch palaces on console years ago because it sounded fun. It was.

Yeah I always play with a 91 file on console because I find the "fall colors" annoying.

Done with the ghost house too. Although I have to double check if the old method for reaching the exit door is faster than my new cooler way. Shouldn't be though. Edit: Old method was indeed slower. CI2 here I come!

I'm right behind you. Choco-Ghost House Small - 240 This level sucks small, as you will see in the second room. Really nothing I can do about it.

And he pulls ahead! Chocolate Island 2 Small (key) - 268 I tried every possibilty for the third room with the chucks. My way looks sloppy, but was the fastest.
