My video was a demonstration that the Kyriaki disappears from the mission COMPLETELY (a glitch); I have so far never used the ultrasound unless I absolutely HAVE to (in which case it happens so fast you miss it, or on the first frame possible to save 2 frames). Fortunately for me, I found the trigger that causes it; the suture line you make on the first cut cannot be completed before a certain frame; after it, the boss kyriaki appears just fine. Nice TAS of operation 3, but in my WIP I end with a time of 4:48:93, whereas you end with 4:45:05.
Heh I'm not surprised. I cannot work out how to get the GEL and RUB to go as fast as possible which'll be the 3 seconds right there. You're also the one that can do RAM addresses whereas I lack the knowledge to find what I'm searching for, so no doubt you have more information to go on. As I did explain last time (and apparently removed from the post for whatever reason) the TAS is just for personal viewing. I wanna rip apart Triti m'self :)

Well, when I compared vids the 3 seconds saved is spread throughout the whole mission, not just the gel/rubbing. And the addresses I have are really for minor optimizations; you might be surprised to know they only consist of x/y coordinates of the stylus, and the amount of use left per tool (plus one address that shows how much liquid is inside a syringe- max of 25.) It took me many restarts of various levels, as well as finding out how to optimally use each tool in order to get perfect times as well as new time saving techniques; for instance even in Triti there's ways to save time besides just pulling out stuff optimally. You'll see what I mean when the movie is complete. Done with operation 13, so moving on to Deftera. *silent cry*

Since the site is back up now, I can finally ask this question: Entertainment wise, would a TC2 run be preferable to watch with or without the healing touch used? In TC1, using the healing touch stops you from getting the full special bonus after completing each stage (outside of the 2 or 3 in which its usage is mandatory). Flipside is that TC1 essentially gives you the healing touch by default in terms of speed that you can select and do stuff. In TC2, the healing touch gives no penalties point wise in terms of usage, outside of using it in the 7 X missions where it gives a bonus for not using it ("No Healing Touch - 100 points" or such). TC2 has a hard mode, in which vital loss through normal operating procedures and vital loss speed is (seemingly( increased. While with TAS tools you can do things significantly faster than still humanely possible, it's still slower and laggier in terms of input speed than TC1 is (eg. TC1: swapping to another tool after an action takes 2 frames, in TC2, it can take anywhere between 3-10, depending on the action being taken and lag present). Anyway, the reason I'm asking this is that I'm just about up to the first operation where I can freely use the healing touch (op 7, PGS tumors), which I believe would (excluding the fact that the healing touch slows the timer) save significant time through significantly reduced syringe usage, as pgs tumors are a bitch in terms of vital loss when you get to the last of the lot. In a rough realtime test, I raised the vitals to 80, and tried to take them all out without the HT, and failed, as the vital loss got faster with each seperated one. The HT would basically halve or greater this loss, and I believe the amount of time it gives would be enough to complete like, 70% of all ops that it can be used on. tl;dr: Healing touch usage on all ops that allow it to save time, y/n?

I'm pretty sure there's a video on youtube for beating the PGS thrombus-tumor stage without HT in realtime, though I can see how you'd need to heal up before the wave of 4. Honestly, I'd think it would be better to do it without constant HT, as it looks more impressive, though you could justify using it in every case as well(aim for individual level time, instead of realtime).

Remember we're primarily dealing with an entertaining recording. I reckon that the healing touch would need to be used optimally, seeing it every single operation would quickly become boring. However on the flip-side we don't have to worry about final score (Unless it plays an affect on the status the author is trying to achieve, or some kind of ending difference?)

Aw, I really want to see what you've done so far! But you don't want to spoil everything, that's fine. So, as a compromise, how about revealing exactly one second (as defined by the in-game timer) out of each operation? That's at least 14 seconds of stuff we get to see, right there. That way, you can royally tease us while still keeping it mostly secret. Just a suggestion. Act however you like with it. I'm not really much familiar with this game (never played it), and I'm still anticipating this run.

These operations are hard work and this summer has been very slow progress. Like a bad case of diarrhea, you'll just have to wait it out. Moving on to chapter 4, which means I'm halfway through the game. (except the second half is tougher.)

Done with Triti; and starting Tetarti. It's not fun, because I need to do the same operation 3 times out each Tetarti, and stupidly after slicing I need to wait 3 seconds before injecting. And then after that, it's the doubly-not fun pempti missions. As I've said before, since I'm working this summer and doing other stuff, progress is going to be very slow. So just.... be patient.

I just completed the 3 Immature Tetarti operations, so it's still a long haul. Because after this is the mature Tetarti, then the 5 Pempti operations, then chap 5, then chap 6 which is basically a repeat of chap 5. Oh, and This is weird. Edit: Pempti is FINALLY done. On to Chapter 5.

On the subject of Under the Knife 2, I do have a couple things that I noticed from me kinda bumbling through it... on easy... with the equivalent of infinite Healing Touch (on missions that have it. yeah, I know, scream at me later): 1) You know those artificial membranes (the ones you use the forceps for, such as immediately after a tumor removal)? only takes a tap with the medical gel in UtK2, which means they won't eat up any significant time. This information is the ONLY reason I managed to S-rank the limited gel/no stabilizer mission sight-reading it. (one of the bonuses on the mission requires every wound that can be sealed with artificial membranes to be sealed with them) 2) S-ranking the missions require you to get EVERY bonus possible from the mission. If a Perfect Surgeon [All S-rank] TAS is attempted, it will be a bit longer (with respect to a "Sadistic Surgeon" [lowest time] TAS) mostly due to one mission that ends when a certain action is performed by the player. Personally, I would still prefer the Perfect Surgeon approach to it, since the Sadistic Surgeon approach for that mission is just Healing Touch->Healing Touch->End [Fission Mailure] 3) There is a microphone involved when dealing with one specific strain of the neo-GUILT (and, memory serving correctly, only appears once in the story mode, although I haven't yet gotten through the X missions yet). I believe you CANNOT do anything while the screen is gassed, though I haven't checked that personally. 4) There are probably a couple missions that are utterly IMPOSSIBLE to avoid misses on [and thus, S-rank] without manual Healing Touch use (this means Healing Touch is activated Manually). Can't say for certain which ones they are, as I haven't studied all of them in-depth yet. 5) "Improvising" is going to eat up some time due to how the alarm system on the locks work [you can remove all but the lit "fuse", but then you have to wait for the light on the lit fuse to turn off before removing it]. Healing Touch is NOT advised for a TAS on that level. the penlight does NOT have to be over an area for you to work on it, so memorization is the way to go here. also... bump?

You might also be interested to know that any wound can be sutured with 3 lines.

My run of tcutk2 was waiting for a newer version of desmume, mostly out of laziness and more timing fixes. And also due to a "how to progress" wall, with it being healing touch all the way (no penalty for using it, making missions significantly easier to pass on hard), or no healing touch unless mandated (making missions significantly harder).

That seems to be the case, as getting through the Extreme difficulty (X-mission) version of that Neo-GUILT pretty much requires you to be using tools while you blow the mist out.

In most cases, those goals line up (unless we don't count Chain Breaks as a non-Cool result - chains get broken for certain events such as draining a Nous tumor before using the scalpel on ALL prior ones in that sequence). 4-1 is the one mission where they don't exactly line up due to...

lemme pull up the bonuses/XS rank requirements on that one (4-1: Collapse) real quick (Gamefaqs is actually useful for something...)

...so I guess the question on this one (with respect to an XS run) would be how fast can we get the 61+ chain and the 20 Internal bleeding treated, since after that, spamming HT will finish it in less than a second (your estimate).

With the exceptions of 4-1 (if we decide to actually try for any points and XS rank as indicated above), 7-7 and X-7 (both effectively require HT activation at the END of the operation, or else you'll instant-fail from hitting a red pipe), I say use it at will.

On the Trauma Center 1 side of things, I haven't worked on anything since October. I have had so precious free time this semester, any TASing time has gone straight to DKC2 the past 5 months. It doesn't help that I'm stuck at the first op in chapter 5, and that I'm on the fence about redoing using a newer desmume version.
