Yeah, this is the plan... someone just needs to implement it.
It was originally planned that the higher the rank, the rarer is would become. As time progresses, there are more and more published TASes at the site, and I think that due to this, the number of people in every rank will grow (also the expert player), keeping the ratios about the same. I agree that one person on a rank is a bit strange, but that will already change if the site contribution and TAS contributions are both combined in the rank.
This would make mmbossman's problem of having a possibly underused rank only bigger.
Yeah, this would be very nice... I am not able to make something like this... but I've mentioned it quite a few times, and I think it's on the TODO list.
I know very well what you mean, and to sort of compensate for this, higher rated movies are weighted a lot higher than lower rated movies (a TAS with a 10 counts as about 5.5 TASes that have a 5). As Derakon mentions, rerecord count can easily be edited, or bots used. It's often a nice indication, but can't be used here I'm afraid.

Who said anything about Ninja? Admin and coder have always been apart of the site. When did they leave?
The purpose of the clash rank would be to keep have both a site (staff) contribution indicator as well as the usual TAS contribution part of the rank.

Is there a page where you can see how many of these points you (or someone else) has? I've looked around for a way to find out how many points I have, but without any luck. (I'd like to avoid calculating it myself)

As many times as you have brought this up, I've brought up the fact that the page doesn't exist because it was lost in the site transfer. And currently I do not know how to recreate it. On top of that, it is low on the priority list. There is a stack of TODO items ahead of it.

I didn't mean to convey that we should modify rankings just to shove more people into it; I fully agree that the highest rank should not be given lightly. At the same time, it is currently occupied by only Randil, which seems odd (and could make it look like that title was given specifically to him).
I am also in favor of adopting a more visible separation between staff and contributors, especially since most of the staff do contribute towards the content significantly.

I'm using this line, taken from Bisqwit's old forum title, as an example of excessive regalia. At one point that was abolished almost completely and now we're gradually building towards that again, except now it's automatic.

What's the purpose of a separate indicator?

If a Publisher made a TAS and it got published, you wouldn't be able to immediately tell just by looking at their forum title.
Having segregated ranks alleviates this.
Oh, that makes sense. Except I don't quite see the limits to this. What if a publisher made a TAS and also coded an emulator? What if a player is also a renowned editor, like, say, FractalFusion?

In that case, I apologize for misinterpreting that statement.
Perhaps a solution could be to remove the persons role in the site from every post, basically, only list it in their profile.
As far as those people also getting promoted to other duties, the solution there needs to be do have a slash ranking. Judge / Expert Player. Such a system is on the TODO list.
I think that people not "losing" their previous independent rank when they get a new one is rather important. If someone has contributed lots of very good runs and then eg. becomes an editor, it would be a shame if he "loses" his previous rank indicating his player status.
It's also informative to others if they can see if someone is eg. a site manager and also contributes lots of runs.
