It doesn't record from Reset, but it does record pressing the Reset button, so you can record a movie so long as you press Reset right away.

Maybe but if you pause the emu, you can't press reset. In other words, you must press reset and lose some frames which is not clean.

i was told that the fast forward key works as frame advance when paused. (i think its f1) these features are still needed though: - record from reset - change save state slot by number key (configurable) - save or load to current savestates slot keys (configurable) EDIT: i tried recording a movie and i could even getting adapted to using the f8 f9 f10 f11 keys for saving states, but what irritated me the most was that after i increase to slot 9 it stops inscreasing. should go back to slot 1. i was saving everything over the same slot...

Eh, I was talking with a friend of mine about arcade emulators and superplays, and he told me there weren't any. So I was a little surprised when I saw this patched FBA (or wasn't it FB@ before? Bah, no matter). So I've been fiddling with this emulator for around three hours now, doing some stupid stuff in Metal Slug and ESP Ra. De. and I decided to try out recording and sending to AVI. Please note that I'm a total newbie to making my own superplays, I love watching them and I love doing standard speedruns, although none of my stuff actually gets published, or finished for that matter. So I boot up DoDonPachi and decrease the speed to 50% and do a stupid run of the first level where I hog up the front of the enemy ships, dodging every bullets at the same time. I start the replay and the AVI recording input to see what it looks like at full speed, and the mapping seems to be off by quite a lot, and the run ends up nothing like it was in slow motion. I try out again, this time at 50% speed, but the AVI recording doesn't seem to be going any faster than the 50% speed run. On to my question: I'm thinking about superplaying a few shooters for my own enjoyment before moving on to bigger arcade game projects, being a newbie to doing my own superplays, I'd like to know how the heck can I go back to fullspeed when recording, or if my eyes are just making crazy stuff up. (Holy crap, this is the most intelligble first post I've ever done)

Finally I am able to reply to this old but important topic, I was in favour of Win Kawaks for Neogeo/CPS1/CPS2 Games. Later contacted Kawaks Team, initially Makers are not interested to make it open source emulator & i am not not skilled to work over it alone.. sO this topic ends (Making Kawaks Rerecord support Emulator). Now come to FBA rerecord Support Emulator. I got 35 neogeo Games for Kawaks. I did Browse roms directory for FBA... just 7 games detected & works fine, Why? Don't know... And the latest KOF Series Games (KOF 2001/KOF 2002/KOF 2003/KOF 2K4se) & Metal Slug Series (Metal Slug 3/5) roms are not working over FBA while it works with no problems over Kawaks under same conditions... In Kawaks there is a file called Add.dat in which you can add latest games crc32 to make it compatible with older version of Kawaks using Kawaks Loader.. FBA don't own this feature. So how will we play Latest Games???? Now Finally for Recording features currently required 1) Record from reset (As it is necessary to get published here) 2) Short Keys for Start/Stop Recording. 3) Short Keys for Checking/Un Checking Movie Read Only. 4) Games Options (To play it over arcade or Console), I found it no where. 5) Universal Roms, Each rom's size is arround 40mb for neogeo games & these are hard to find (No bugged). And I think a lot more... Just play and you will get. I hope someone will try to fix/add these feature. This is the only neogeo/cps1/cps2 currently support rerecord support but required some work... Enough for now.

They change the roms names quite often, so if you have an old emulator it probably won't run new version of the roms. We would need a latest version of FBA and patch it (fba still gets updates? or not? if not i don't know how to proceed..)

All things considered, I'd rather see more work put into FBA than another emulator. There's already been work put into it, and all it really needs is frame advance. (And then I can do a 3-player run of KoTR! HA-HA!!) Edit: I are a fool, times 2.

I believe it has frame advance, what it needs is record from power-on.

Aha. Yes. F1 while paused. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I've found all the help I need, so I just might add that power-on thing, if I can. I evidently have to go learn how to read first, though. :D

No, Not really if a game suppose Street Fighter to - The New Challengers is names sf2tnc.zip in previous version. It will be same in next version. In Neorage X (Emulator for neogeo) All roms works fine with all versions. This feature should be added in FBA, so we can find roms easily..

Is it just me, or does recording a movie simply not work on this emulator? I tried making a Final Fight movie and playing it back, and it never even got past the intro (which it should have if any buttons were pressed at all).

I think you are new here... I recommend you to go here http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html Movie Recording is simple, in file menu click record input, play game, when finished, stop it. to watch you game simple click replay input. browse you recorded file.

That's exactly what I did, and I got a complete blank. Not even a bunch of weird input to tell me it was a desynch or something.

Is the folder that FBA is trying to write in set to read-only?

Yeah, it is. Guess I'll go try it again with read-only off. Also, it always started the movie paused. Any particular reason for this?

we were having problems doing a run for SNES Mortal Kombat 2 so i figured i'd look into an arcade emulated run (the arcade version of MK2 is much better anyway :) problem is FBA only supports a handful of arcade games (MK2 not included). any chance we can get the rest of the arcade games working on FBA? what about a rerecording mame32?

Let's just say the MAME devs don't have rerecording at the top of their priority list.
