I'm new to TASing. But I know some stuff about it. But I was wondering how you do them so crazily like the Super Mario Bros. 3 one Genisto did or for example the Mega Man ones where they're like going through walls and super sliding, etc. I was wondering how this is possible...I've tried to do it with slow motion...but I don't think just that cuts it...so if anyone knows how any of this is done and wants to help me that would be great or just tell me if just using the slow motion is right... Thanks for any help!

Try using frame advance. \ on most emulators.

*german* I'm also new to TAS and it's really funny! Yeah you should use frame advance. Set it so that you can press a button to go to the next frame. So you can hold certain buttons and then press the "next frame" button to go on ...

Yeah, frame advance rocks! I can't help, but slow-motion sucks, imo. Btw, MUGG, ebbenfalls SSBM-Freak? :)

You should read this, too. Because phrases like "you should use Frame advance" won't help you much. http://tasvideos.org/FAQ.html (Movie making) But this is actually if you want to make a movie for this site. Or do you just want to know how to go through walls? Then use Bisqwit's link. and yeah I'm one of the, let's say, wannabe pros of Badenwürttemberg^^

It is like this: Every frame (=1/60 sec, so 60 frames=1sec) the game calculates the new state. So you have 60 pictures per seconds. With frame advance the game only goes to the next screen, if you press a button. The advantage of this is, you can press every frame exactly those buttons you need. If you want to do some of the glitches, slowmotion or frame advance is quite helpful, as some moves require frame-exact-timing. I know how this game sucked more time than a tas - especially the homerun contest. And then practicing techniques like wavedash, juggling... >.<

Yeah, I know, offtopic, but... Not really, but requires some practice. Especially to use it efficiently in fights. I havn't tried it really for some months, but I shouldn't need more than a minute (my record it at about 44 secs.). I can also solve higher cubes (4x4x4, 5x5x5 etc.) but that takes much more time (3-4min, 8-9min).

Wow. It takes me about 1:20 for the 3x3x3s, and half the time when I do a 5x5x5, I get stuck with two edge pieces flipped and I can't figure out how to fix it.

My record for 3x3x3 is something like 1:10. I don't use any speedcubing technique, though, just the easiest solving technique.

I don't really do speed cubing either, but a better cube could probably put me under 1:00.
