This is a 2 players movie of Altered Beast, 28.26 seconds (1696 frames) faster than Dan's 1 player version.
It abuses a programming error so that you only need to see the transformation once per level (normally, you need to see it twice on 2 players). Without this alone, a 2 player run would be about 15 seconds slower (not counting other improvements) compared to a 1 player run, because of having to see both players transform.

Bosses memory addresses (HP):

  • 00FFE365 = 1st, 4th and 5th boss
  • 00FFE3A5 = 2nd boss
  • 00FFE377 = 3rd boss
adelikat: The verdict is "accepted for publication". The movie should have used the hardest difficulty setting by using B+Start at the title screen. An improved movie that does not use this will be rejected. As a result, an "improved" movie will be longer than this submission.

Wow - just read this thread having watched the movie. I never inferred that the animals were having sex. Fast-forwarding to those bits again, I wonder how I missed it. I guess I don't have a dirty enough mind or something. I actually thought the wolf-jumping and the symmetrical dances were pretty cool. Anyway, it was cool watching the game play out and the speed at which bosses were defeated was amazing. Having said that, whilst I'm sure defeating enemies ASAP takes a fair bit of skill & planning, it was slightly less interesting to never see an enemy appear. It seems that this may just be a game that isn't necessarily more entertaining as the skills and time are improved. That's just the way it seems to me from this. I guess if it were on 'Hardest' difficulty and I got a glimpse of more than the bosses and a couple of minotaurs I'd probably be satisfied. edit: rewatched. Liked it marginally more. My favourite parts are actually where the sprites cross, messing up the colours - in stage 1 and the bear stage - and also the abstract choreography with the tigers.
