Here's mine. Not actually drawn by me or anything. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h59/rickcressen/currentdesktop-2.jpg I love FF7 humor almost as much as I love Mega Man.

En Taro Adun, bitches. The screen capture button didn't pick up my spiffy animated Starcraft cursor. How sad. Oh well.

"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Because Windows XP is miserable at managing resources, I can't take a screenshot right now. I find this absurd, given that it has 2GB of RAM to work with, and it's only using 600 MB at the moment. In lieu of a desktop screenshot, here's my current wallpaper. Just be warned that it's a huge dual-monitor spread. Not that wallpaper matters much to me, since this is usually all I see at any given time. Oh, and as for my laptop: Classic Calvin & Hobbes.

I'm sorry. You fail. This is a topic for desktop screenshots (or wallpapers, though theres actually a topic for that too). What you posted was... neither. Perhaps you should start a random pictures thread and hope noone flames you for it, or better yet look if one has existed in the past.

Hard to do this from work (since most of my computers are at home) but I did find an old screenshot compilation that's a good start. These are the wallpapers from (top to bottom): 2400 (My computer that stopped booting because of corrupted hard drive boot files, just before finishing my MMZ run a year ago. It came back up, then went down again when a powerful storm rolled through and fried a good number of machines in our house through their CAT5 connections.) (Currently looks like it's finally booting okay, just need to investigate that weird sound it's making.) 1200 (Currently dead, most likely due to a bad power supply. Will fix eventually.) 600 (Hard disk recently became unbootable ; this machine doesn't really exist anymore.) In the process of trying to bring 2400 back, ended up, instead, making a new computer. This is its desktop: http://img484.imageshack.us/img484/374/screenshotfd7.png For my Mac laptop, there are two desktops... This is the one always shown on the laptop itself. This is the one on my monitor here at work.

Though it does look somewhat angular/retro and generally cool, I must ask if that whole window manager/theme affects your productivity in anyway. I mean, the whole 1-menu-driven thing seems a bit too tedious to travel through for me, but I would appreciate a view from someone who uses it. Also, Cardboard's desktop = winnar.

Well, I'm used to having minimal configuration. I do not really like to have overwhelming menus/config tools like KDE or Gnome would offer. Fvwm allows users to configure their WM in every way they would want. I configured many bindings for different applications (with Keys, mouse and even mouse stroke...), so even with a simple appearance I do not lack performance. I guess that I'm used to that kind of configuration and that it would not suit everyone... Some people even prefer some WM that are entirely bound to keyboard such as Ratpoison... It's too Xtreme for me :D And thanks for finding it cool ! (I really put effort in making my desktop having a nice look, so I really appreciate when people like it !) The only thing I like for now is a systay application. I should download one ASAP :)

Those two sentences are actually contradictory. The only difference between your scheme and what people usually use is that in your scheme all the shortcuts are bound to keyboard/mouse combinations (which you must remember by heart) while in the more usual scheme the shortcuts are visual and don't require nearly as much remembering.

Actually by saying "minimal configuration" I was mostly speaking of the appearance of my desktop (what Raiscan was referring to in fact). Maybe that was no appropriate terminology I guess so may I apologize for the language abuse. Moreover, I do not understand your point into pointing out that the only difference is that my shortcuts are not graphical. Wasn't that what I was saying ? I simply do not like the look&feel of DE and I prefer simpler yet very functionnal WM such as Fvwm or Openbox (that I can modify the way I like it).

Amusingly, my noticing that you were listening to Bloody Tears got a bigger 'AUGH!' response than your wallpaper. :p If Castlevania never remixed/arranged/otherwise used that song again, you wouldn't hear me complain. Need to show some love for the town theme in CV2 for a change.

http://i18.tinypic.com/6pf1uuq.jpg Back to KDE, because I like the apps and it performs no worse than minimalistic WMs from my experience.

Yeah, that's long been one of my favorites on the site, though I'm a bit biased, I admit.
