I’ve extended nitsuja’s WIP by a little. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1829292905/s1mm.gmv

What a beautiful movie and hack, it really deserves to be finished, what do you think WST? :) For some reason Sonic hud don't show me the information but is loaded correctly said, you used ram watches? Or you extracted the checksum?

Yeah, I use RAM watch with this hack. Btw, this hack has some funny bugs, for example, early spindash in the very beginning of MMZ3 starts boss music, but instead of bringing you to the boss fight, the game just crashes. Another way to crash the game is spindash through an object.

Thank you. This project was started by nitsuja back in 2008, but the quality of his input is still excellent even for today’s standards. A few years ago feeuzz was going to finish nitsuja’s project, he had a WIP, but than he lost it. So I have no idea if I am faster or slower than feeuzz in my testrun. And yeah, I could probably turn it into a finished run or even into a TASvideos submission, we’ll see :) I think I will have to redo MMZ2 anyway, it’s a pretty boring stage to TAS, as I don’t know any shortcuts for it. Maybe you could try your hand on lurking it? You and kaan55 are really good at discovering time savers.

Yeah, nitsuja's TASes has something that are pleasurable to watch, even if they are obsolete with the pass of the time. I wonder what happened to him, seeing his last post he disappeared suddenly. About the hack I will see what I can found and try to improve your stages. and hope dmtm not claim the discovery Update: new MMZ2 in 0:17.49 It's a little hard to optimize only with ram watch and no terrain display, but I think is fine for now.

Wow, that is fast, I always knew you can find something what I overlooked :) (upd) nicely done! I tried those stair clips in many places, but for some reason I didn’t have much success with them. Your route is very good, and also I love how the Sonic is drowning in the end. (upd2) I’ve just found a strange way to enter the terrain in the next act, but I didn’t quite figure out how did I trigger it — I was playing in real time and it happened fast as hell. I’ve made a savestate though. I will try to reproduce it while recording tomorrow.

It's a funny moment xD, sadly, we need to fix the score tables because they can be skipped pressing [A] at the first frame avaidable, we missed this little detail :P — and maybe add animal manipulation in DFZ3, I can see a little walrus delaying the end

I was wondering when we'd get around to tasing this hack. What version are you guys using?

Oh lol. I can probably fix the score tables and the desyncs that might result from that. I have no idea how to do animal manipulation though and would like to learn.

I've destroyed MMZ3 in 0:13.49

We are using the SegaCD US 4.0b version: http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_Megamix Don't forget to download the SegaCD bios to run this game.

Not necessary for now, we are lurking and exploring the hack, you can search shotrcuts too! The animal manipulation is written somewhere in S1 thread (because this game is a port of S1 engine to SegaCD) About the hack I was experimenting and I see the horizontal underflow is fixed in this hack and can't be performed, this benefits the entertaining value. And the braking mechanic is the same as S3, you can spindash when the acceleration is betwhen 0 to 264, it's not necessary braking like in S1/2 engine AFAIK. That's my research for now, I will continue tomorrow.

Thanks. I'll probably start my search tomorrow or the day after. Awesome job on the routing so far. Even if level wraps weren't patched I would've suggested not using it. I personally hate seeing it performed in romhacks since it feels like you don't wanna show the game off. I wouldn't mind if we broke the levels any other way though. btw I got Sonic Hud to work with this romhack by changing the checksum. If you want I can give you the modified file.

Agreed, is good zipping in a level hack but not looks good skiping all of it, but some times you can zip to the end in some stages

Just write it here, I can change it manually

Yeah I'm a bit iffy on being able to zipping the from beginning to the end but at least it's not as bad as straight up teleporting to the end of the level.

All I did was search checksum in the rom-check file using crtl+f and change 2 nearby false statements to true. Instead of flooding this comment with the text I'm just gonna give you a download link to the modified rom-check file. rom-check.lua Other than the fact the hud will always think you're Tails it should work just fine with this hack. Just be aware that this won't work properly in other Sonic games (i.e. Not S1 or hacks made from it). I'd suggest making a copy of the original file just so you can swap between this and that.

I've improved WST levels a little and made it Starry Night, this maybe can be officially the 2nd wip? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/446518057/s1mm.gmv I'm processing an encode...

Nice improvements, friend! I love SNZ, it’s really fast has hell and unleashes the true power of blast processing :)

Thank you, SNZ2 is the most mind blowing level so far and the best, the funny part is the camera trying to follow Sonic while he is at the speed of sound :) Can you check the last zone? I'm not very sure how to start it and you are good at routing level hacks, if we finished this zone we can submit it here, only if you are agreed and don't feel imperfection in the previous levels. Sorry, I started TASing before you asked, so I’m here with a little different result. Here is a faster way to beat SNZ1 :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1265524998/s1mm.gmv I also think that you can improve it even further if you try harder, maybe somewhere I missed possible double-jumps, who knows. I also remember doing a test TAS of SNZ2 using ultra mega hyper necrozma Shadow, but I am lazy to look for the gmv, here is the video: Link to video I’ll test if I can apply tricks from there for Sonic as well.

Wow, that was fast! no matter how much good TASer you are in this game, we can't be mastered it honestly, we always founds shortcuts. Anyway I would like to keep intact SN2/3, since it's a hack never submitted here I would prefer not to destroy the levels so much, since I feel bad for the poor Mysti Maze, he is still recovering in the hospital.

Sounds nice, but somehow Aglar & Zurggriff make TASes that are deadly hard to improve by one fucking frame :)

Get well soon Mystic Maze. I want you to be in good shape before we break you again :p Starry Night Act 2 is definitely my favorite in this run. That's real Sonic speed right there.

Yeah their tases are usually only improvable if they've completely overlooked something which is rare. I wanna see what I can do in Metallic Base Act 1.

This hack is well suited for a sonic game (and even more because this is a SegaCD game). @Evil_3D Since I watched nitsuja's WIP, your WIP looks impressive. Nice work!

Ok wow that's much better than my run. I guess was kinda off my game. Nice job. I don't know how to imrpove Act 1 atm so I did Act 2 and 3. Both of them ended up being short and easy. Here are the times. Act 2: 0:17:32 Act 3: 0:02:46 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/343253570/s1mm.gmv
