Klonoa takes a short break thanks to the awesomeness that is this game. Here is a demonstration of what is possible; this is not too tightly optimised, though I tried out a few different techniques on the platforming stages. The big battle at the end showcases some fun moments. Any comments?

Amazing. :D I would love to see a full run.

I just did a little memory watching, and I now know that Lee's Backfist (L+B) does an incredibly stupid amount of damage (180 on my test door), which means doors should be breakable in two hits - a jumping hit before landing, then turn around and backfist it. This will make the slowest part of the platforming stages a lot faster. You can also (sometimes) knock enemies through doors, destroying them instantly. However, because the backfist's attack animation is so short... it is probably not always worth it. This would be a great time to prefer entertainment over speed. Opinions?

I think this game would benefit from speed/entertainment tradeoffs, like most fighting/brawling game do (btw, it really reminds me of DBAA). Is there some attack that can potentially make you run faster than while simply running?

I think the test run is solid, but the game is a rather bland one where you dash past a dozen of the same generic enemy. The graphics are quite blocky too. Nothing strikes me as special about the run unless you have some crazy glitch that's not in the test there. I would much prefer you finish Klonoa. I watched the WIP and it's really good.
