Come on guys, too much off topic posts here, and besides, I found a great site with many many roms. I ask again, is there anyone here who has free time to help me? I have installed the emu and found the rom, now I need to set the perfect settings and other stuff.

Oh, I guess I could throw out any more hints I can think up. I don't know about settings besides making sure to record from "power on" somehow rather than some other way. Well, there's a patch to press opposite directions at the same time, but I don't know if that does anything in this game. Hmm, I should test whether the "throw a Pharaoh Shot while charging another" trick works here.

Ok, most of the people posting in this thread have hundreds of posts on this forum, so take a guess. My suggestion is to just start playing, see if you can at least match the current run. For starters, you could concentrate on just doing Pharoah man (or whoever you want to do first.) If you find a part where you can't figure out how it was done before, post and ask for help. I don't believe there's an input display on FCEU, but you can open the fcm in a hex-editor to see exactly what buttons were pushed in the old one (it may be easier to convert to fmv first though.) When you start figuring out new tricks, you can upload an fcm and ask if anyone sees room for improvement. So yeah, just jump into it. Good luck!

Heh, I just tried the Pharaoh Shot trick, and it works differently. (The trick is to start charging, slide, and then let go of B. You'll keep charging while you slide, so stop the slide early and press B simultaneously to shoot an extra ball.) When you fire the extra shot on the NES, the charged shot gets stuck above your head. You no longer need to hold B to keep it there. You can still bash enemies with it, but you can't fire it off anymore. You can even charge up another Pharaoh Shot, and it'll overlap with the stuck one.

Great news everyone! I have now played about 2-3 hours finding the best accuracy etc in Pharaoh Man level and I can tell you that basically my ideas for the first stage works :) For instance, you can actually slide beneath the sand for quite a while and avoiding hitting those sand-scorpions but the tiny problem is to press the jump button fast and many times to get up again. I haven't still figured out yet how to rerecord :( even though I have pmed some experienced users here (including Bisqwit) without receiving an answer. So what I mean is, after spending 1-2 hours trying to find the re-record button (I only see Record Movie, which I find the most relevant to re-record) I played the first stage without ever re-recording and still managed to get my perfect jumps (at 50% speed, which I find the easiest speed) etc.. I guess you are right Vatchern, experience really pays off. You should have watched when I played for the first time, I died after about 10 seconds :)) I also don't understand why my autofire button does not work. I do this: Config/Input/Port1Configure/ and then chose Turbo B and A.

You only "pmed" me regarding which ROM to use. As for your current question, please try reading the FAQ - the "using emulator tools" part in particular. In general, rerecording is done by simply loading a savestate. It'll revert the both the game and movie to the point of time the savestate was made.

Well, make sure the speed is low enough that you can really get it perfect. Meggy should only stand up for one frame between slides! Seriously! And minimizing your jumping time will maximize your sliding time, so try to do that, too. You could look at my WIPs for the Game Boy game to get some ideas for the style, although I'm going to put up an improved fight against RingMan, and I think I can improve the fight against ToadMan, too.

It is very recommended to use the frame advance instead of low speed. In default keys: Press backspace to activate framecounter, so you know which frame you are at. While playing, press Enter to pause the game. Then hold the keys that you want pressed next frame, and press Spacebar once. Repeat holding the keys you want and pressing spacebar and you will get perfect accuracy. You can always find the first frame that a new slide is possible with this.

Ah... enter brings up the weapon select? Check which button you have set for pausing the emulator (not the game) and replace Enter for that button in the description above. It should be in Options Set Controls or something. I don't have the emulator available now so i can't check, but it should be easy to find.

Oh man I don't know where to begin 0_o. It feels like Im done with Mega Man 4 after asking FODA, Bisqwit, Truncated thousands (literally) of questions on how to PROPERLY record and save :) I feel so ashamed asking so many questions while their answers were perfectly fine and well explained. Thank you guys, I cannot fully express my graditude for the help I recieved from them, but once again thanks you guys :D I want to especially thank FODA for giving the final blow on my head!! so I finally understand how to properly record and save (not that Truncated and Bisqwit explained badly). Now, FINALLY to my work-in-progress. I have completed the first halv of Pharaoh Man stage, and would like to upload my progress so you all can give me constructive criticism.

A bit yes and also searching for a "clean path" = without killing any unnecessary enemies and trying to slide as much as possible and to use Balloon as much as possible. Okey when I uploaded my WIP to Dehacked's site It wrote that my current WIP is about 56 seconds... about 3 seconds behind kopernicals run... :( But anyway here is my WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/43/Pharaoh+Man+Level+WIP.fcm You may notice that it may be wrong to jump over those sand scorpions, you could just instead use kopernicals method and just kill them, but there is a reason why I jump over them. Because I experimented alot this this first stage of Pharaoh Man and found out a "certain path" if I'd jump over those sand scorpions, and other, a bit extraordinary shooting, jumping etc is carefully planned, for the simpel purpose to slide beneath those sand scorpions and showing my own style. Important note: when I found my optimal jumping, shooting during my current run, I used 12% speed (which I had not the least problem with) and my auto-fire button did not work (which also were absolutely not a problem for me) but that did not matter so much because I almost cracked my fire button when it was needed so I think I used it optimal. Now I should probably delete this WIP due to its about 3 seconds slower than kopernicals but just give me your comments about my progress.

unfortunately it desynced for me. Even though it is slower don't scrap it yet! Press backspace to show the frame count, then compare the two movies to find where you lost time. Go through the original movie and find several land marks and jot down the frame count. Then run your movie and see how those points compare with the original.

It works perfectly fine here. Thanks for the tips, though I wish more peps could give more advice but Im forced to skip some jumps over those scorpions so I can shave off lots of frames.
