Yeah... I have started a TAS on this game and I was wondering a few things... : Is it fine to name the name "Link" and waste frames before you start? : Has anyone discovered the fastest route for the Guard House? : IS THIS A GOOD GAME TO TAS!? EDIT: By the way! I made a demo: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/617463955/CrispyYoshisParallelWorldsTASDEMO.smv Heh... The frame count.. XD

A few things: As I already mentioned to you, this hack is incomplete with known bugs that were intended to be fixed. Unfortunately, it seems there is no motivation for a newer version to be made. Most hacks that are featured on the site are the final version. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php is a great site for uploading movie files. This game already has a topic. ALttP and Parallel worlds are both incredibly complex games to TAS, and not something I'd normally recommend to a starting TASer to have as his/her first TASing attempt. There's luck manipulation up the wazoo, so many tricky movement techniques, and tiny little nuances for saving frames in various ways that aren't apparent to less experienced players. If you've watched the work from erokky and dezbeast, you'd know what I'm talking about. Most zelda players have entered the minimal amount as the name... it is always up to the player to name his character what he wants, but do know that it might make the movie longer if the name is mentioned a lot in texts. If you're looking for routes, bug Tompa, he played this hack extensively to find glitches and optimal routes. I'd say the game is good to TAS, especially since it's a hack of a very TASable game in the first place. It is frustrating to watch in the beginning because it takes a very long time to get the sword, but once you do things get easier and more fun to watch.

1. No unless you have a good reason, like naming your character CY, or CRYO to stand out your work. 2. I dont know. 3. If it isnt slow, boring, overly long, getting repetive or waste time it should go over fine. Good luck.

I for one would love to see this game. I was never any good at link to the past since it was pretty hard for me. (I've beat it maybe twice) I read the description for the rom on a site and it said that you had to really know your tricks from Link to the Past to beat this. I don't dare play it. So I'd love to see this as I would otherwise never see it. (same as it was with super demo bros. I was never good at super mario world) :P Answer for Q1: As much as I don't like being called J, (Although JXQ was heard to say in his commentary for OOT "It's a SWEET #%!@ing name!") I think it would still be a good idea to just put "A" or something. You'll be skipping all of the text anyways, so it's not like it'll "ruin" it like it would if you read the text. Answer for Q2: Oh I know! blow up all the walls! XD I've never played the game, so I don't know :P Answer for Q3: I'm not sure what determines a "good game to run" If it's a zelda game, chances are it's a good game to run. (except wind waker. All of that sailing? Boring!) One thing I don't know if you already asked is that Hacks generally aren't allowed unless they're approved by the authorities here. I assume this one would be fine since It's a whole different game layout wise, and is a fairly famous hack. I'm not sure who you'd ask about that. I'm sure I read something about it in the FAQ in the front page. The stupidest Hack I ever played was Kirby's Adventure "Evil Kirby Hack" All it was was that the walking sprites have a line connecting at the top of his eyes making him look (not really) evil. It only had the evil eyes on the walking and running though. All other sprites were left the same. stupid eh? I will try again to find the proper rom to download. Where did you get the rom? perhaps you could send me a link to where I can get the rom through Private Message. Good Luck on this!

Last time I asked for permission to do this run, I was rejected because that V 2.0 might should be released... I have talked to both Euclid (Talking to him at this very moment.) and sePH a several times about 2.0. sePH said that he hasn't given up the project, he just isn't working on it anymore. But it's highly doubtful that it will ever be released and 100% not in the nearest future. Anyway! I have planned out quite a lof of things for this run a few of these things can be seen in my test run I did in March I think... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1197072270/Parallel%20Worlds.smv The run was supposed to be a walkthrough for those who were stuck, so I didn't use that many tricks and such in the beginning (Like the dash glitch.) but as I did things as fast, more or less, as I could it ended up in a speedrun in the end. I have done a few route changes, for example in the guardhouse which looks like in the beginning of my Second Quest test (It ends after I took the big chest key in Parallel Tower, then it runs for nearly 200k frames.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/477561419/ParallelWorldsSeconQuest.smv Here's a somewhat incomplete route. http://www.savefile.com/files/1182592 But the route itself shall be pretty good. If you have any questions on it, go ahead and ask. You will understand more after watching my speedruns. For bomb and arrows... You will need 17 arrows against Ganon at least and they are useful to use at a lot of places. And this is a pretty old planning of the bombs that isn't finished at all, but I think I have included all bombs that are needed in the game. http://www.savefile.com/files/1182608 I'm not 100% that you can kill Ganon using only the level 3 sword. You can at least damage him by doing spin attacks. But I could never be bothered to do a serious attempt. My testrun ends at Ganon for just that reason. I could try some more, or if you would like, in order to kill him that way. But I think I'll get more powerups then ;D. The main reason to not get it is that you will be forced to climb the tower a third time, if you don't do anything like this http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/815963890/Emerald.smv But that will most likely count as EG, or...? Anyway, that shall include some things. I have a lot of stuff in my head (The whole game basically) so feel free to ask anything! Also, I added you on AIM

Yes, you can kill ganon without the Level 4 sword. I never climbed up the parallel tower the 3rd time when beating this game.

I just finished watching the Let's Play of this game a day or two ago, and must say that it's an evil hack. though Zomodok certainly wasn't making things easier for himself. Seeing this game destroyed could be interesting after watching the hell the LP'ers went through. By the way, sorry if it's a bit off topic, but are you the Tompa mentioned in the LP, or is it another Tompa, or even a Tonpa? I thought the name sounded familiar.

*AHEM* Sorry about my absence... my computer got confiscated for a bit >.>;. Well, I'm on vacation, so now I have plenty of time to work on it. I am still doing it, Tompa. And I will discontinue my YI100%cont. run from Spez's TAS. (Red eggs=*Shudder*) If you guys know where all of the areas of the heart pieces are, I just might do a 100% TAS... Maybe after I FINISH AT LEAST ONE OF THE 8978932705789327 WIPS I HAVE! (That includes: Kirby's Dream Land 3 2P Zelda: PW Normal YI 100%cont. - Cancelled etc. etc.) But the main point is: I am alive and I will do/continue it.

I think I need to help you out with some more planning: Item drops. There will be loads of times when you need an enemy to drop a specific item for you, bombs, arrows, hearts, rupees etc. And that's a bitch to plan. I'll see what I can do.

Tompa, I watched a bit of your test-run yesterday, and it was pretty nice to watch, though I kind of missed the commentary from the LP. =P But watching you play around with the first flying tiles room gave me an idea. Ever thought of making a tool-assisted run that doesn't try to go for speed, but for making the game look as easy as possible, as if you're finishing it without even trying? Then show that to Zomodok and Diabetus and have them hate you forever. ;) Back to the topic, I'll watch the second half of the test-run later, and see if I have any questions.

Oh man, you have no idea. For sheer "gets distracted by 100 different runs at once" the title goes to me... for largest amount of unfinished WIPs check out GuyBrush. I have a very, very solid piece of advice: find one game, stick to it. When you're done with that one, proceed to the next. I wish I adhered to that philosophy when I started last year.

I have a different piece of advice. I started out solely working on 1 game at a time when I started (which I think is smart to do for beginners), but as I got more experienced, I'd get bored with a game for a little bit and want to concentrate on something else. So to prevent boredom and burnout on a game, I recommend (if you feel experienced enough) having 2 games on your plate at one time. This allows you to still fully concentrate on the minutia of each one while not feeling like "blah, I really don't want to work on this".

Finally got around to watching Tompa's test run of this hack. I must say I was quite impressed with the hack as a whole. Like most hacks, I enjoy watching playthroughs much more than trying to play it myself. This one is likewise way too hard for me. I'd love to watch any other complete wips that might have been made by anyone. Anyone ever make a complete walkthrough wip?

Update. I did some searching and found some useful info. Euclid (one of the hack creators) did a 100% walkthrough. You can get it here for those interested. (Thanks to Tompa for posting) Also, Seph (the other hack creator) has started work to improve the hack. He's asking for feedback and posting progress at http://seeeeph.wordpress.com/. This is good news! Another step closer to getting a TAS of this awesome hack.

I didn't watch all of Euclid's run, was too long and suboptimal to me ^^. He hardly knew where to go sometimes, hehe. And he didn't actually got all the heart pieces, he missed two of them. Still a good movie if you need help finding everything! I really like that sePH has started the 2.0 progress again. I'll start planning a serious TAS as soon as it's done. My current routes will probably not work so good anymore...

Yes, Ganon can be killed with the Lv 3 "Golden" Sword; PitKidIcarus/littlelink91 did it in his run (another reason to set aside time to watch it). It may be interesting to see the EG method of getting the Kokiri Emerald, though I can't say yet whether it'd save time or waste time. Of course, I'm definitely a newbie, so you'd be a better judge anyway.

Not sure if someone cares but... I was kinda bored today so I made a TAS of this game. SMV Same kind of glitch as the ALttP Glitched run. It's 88 frames faster than this run.
