For those discussing controllers with Nintendo 64 emulation, the (unfortunately standardized) PlayStation style controller is quirky at best for Nintendo 64 games, however
these controllers not only work great for Nintendo 64 games but at least as well on nearly all other emulated platforms (obviously the PlayStation style will work better on Sony emulated systems).
The 6 buttons on the right model the
A,
B, and
C buttons perfectly, and it has
L and
R on the top. It has two more buttons on the bottom on both sides, so the one on the left makes a perfect
Z and the one on the right makes a good
Start.
The POV hat (direction pad) on the left rolls nicely (as apposed to the PlayStation controllers that wear out your thumbs when trying to do roll moves in fighting games) and has nice snap-back.
Finally, you have the two analog sticks. The right one is not needed, while the left one mimics a real Nintendo 64 stick more accurately than the PlayStation controllers. It is slightly tighter than a real one, but that eventually goes away and it is easy to adjust.
It additionally includes rumble support, though I think emulators do not take advantage of this.
I have two of them because they work so well, and it allows my friends to play on equal grounds too.
Definitely recommended if you play any Nintendo 64 games on emulators.
