This is Super Mario Bros 3 in Super Mario All Stars.
<< Amazing run >>
This run has been done 1 year ago, but I never submitted that
Emulator used: snes9xw-improvement9
Options: Allow Left+Right / Up+Down
Take hit and use death to show funny things
Why would anyone like the result?: Some peoples wanted to see a full version of it few years ago.
Aim: Show funny things and bugs
-- Programming errors and funny things to see --
- Wall jump
- Pass through walls and floors
- Shells get stock in walls and pipes
- Death in the first mushroom house
- Take hit by nothing in the first boat
- Killed by my own box in 5-3
- Get many 1up with the same shell in 6-2
- Use hammers to kill Bowser
=> If you are interested in this movie, you can see my Super Mario World version too.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Oh! I also corrected the ROM name.
  • You indicated Super Mario All Stars (U).smc
  • I updated it to Super Mario All-Stars (U) [!].smc

adelikat: This movie is a good example of a "superplay" movie that doesn't aim for fastest completion time. It shows precision, variety, and numerous tricks. Most importantly it shows off interesting aspects of the game that a fast completion type run can not.
Also, contrary to some people's beliefs, this type of movie DOES belong on the site; provided it meets certain quality standards. This movie does and I am accepting it for publication.

[copy of upthorn's post] Additionally, I do not like many of the sound effects used here. The SMW cape spin is obnoxious for the Washbear™ tail, and the p-speed whistle makes my ears go explod.

I didn't like this run nearly as much as the SMW one. Too much speedrun, not enough glitching! Although it sort of picked up in World 6 with all the hammer throwing.

Well, watched it. Some glitches and parts are really interesting and fun, and I'd reccomend anyone to view it. The probably best part is the shell-kicking in mid air at World 6. However I feel a bit disappointed to some points. Firts out, I was REALLY expecting a Frog Mario battle against a Boss. Frog Mario kicking ass would be great, especially after viewing world 3's Fortress. Frog Mario is maintained till almost the end of world 3, why not beat world 3's boss with it? Apart from that, the run is too long for a yes. It can't be interesting enough in every single level, so I believe it would be smarter to pick up at least two whistles (level 1-3 in addition would work), and skipping some worlds. Now there are some tricks I don't remember to have seen in the speed run. Pobably they could save a LOT of time, the moonwalker thing and the use of Hammer Mario at the boss fights, for example. Passing through walls, wall-jumping, using shells in advantage could also be great time-savers. So, now I'm really expecting an amazing speed run. Oh, I voted meh, BTW.

Oh, I didn't watch the SMW run yet, for comparison.

I really didn't like the SNES version being used. The reason is because the L+R glitch looks cheap and takes away much of what makes the NES version great. Also they were a few glitches that you missed which made me :'( I felt overall this was a better effort compared to the SMW run but only good enough to recieve a another 'no' vote

The constant, shrill p-ringing? :/ I don't expect an answer to that sarcastic remark, but I honestly don't understand why an L+R glitch would be worse in this case.

Many levels were a bit boring but it had its funny highlights. For example - World 7 music in Toad's room, running underwater, entering a room in the middle of a pipe, door being displaced below ground level, a broken ivy, climbing with a shell in Baron von Münchausen style, level music continuing after you beat it, going through a pipe the wrong way. I think you could have done more with pipies.

I did like it and I prefer that SNES version. Graphically, musically better. Even though there was repetetive parts, in overall, it was great and there was many unexpected things too. Voting yes. P.S. Check tes messages en haut, J-F.

I found myself saying "wow" or "oh man that's awesome" a lot while watching this. There are too many moments to name them all but here are a few: 6-2 auto-scroller - masterfully done :) dying in a mushroom house world 7 - getting the p-wing & mushroom and then glitching down a pipe using sledgehammer mario for world 8 - again, this differentiated it fromt he warp & warpless movies and gave it something fresh. I think the SNES version was a good choice. It allows you to show off a new glitch, and help differentiate it from the published smb3 movies. I vote yes. Excellent job and it was worth the wait :)

This was absolutely amazing. You make it seem so easy to get stuck in pipes/walls that I feel that I could do it in real time effortlessly. 6-2 was incredible with the 1-ups Big Yes

That World 6-2 Red shell kick-a-thon was awesome. That earned a total of 72 lives, 71 from kicking the shell, and 1 from the one up mushroom collected. That total is hard to count, but I did something you don't normally do, and that is modify the lives counter to 0, at the start of the stage, then let that one play through.

Finally found the time to thoroughly check out this run and man, it blew my mind! At first I was a bit skeptical, didn't think that there was going to much to it but I was wrong. You haven't missed a beat since you left. Yes vote.

Same reason that "holds left on controller 2" didn't seem to be a very good basis for a Mega Man 3 playaround.

Granted, that would be a bad premise for a run... and I guess I just don't consider it remarkable enough even to be annoying. No accounting for tastes.

I really enjoyed this run, especially the "ground" half of World 5 (oh, I died, screw that level JUGEM'S CLOUD! oh I died again. oh well I'll just do THIS OTHER LEVEL) and of course the autoscroller with one shell in 6. Like some other people in the thread I really prefer the NES version's graphics and sound.. but it was still fine. But.. you didn't jump for any of the wands.. ;_; Okay, for one sure, and for one ou were underground. But the others you just let land on you.... (also the autoscrolling tank levels were ultra boring after so many of the autoscrolling airships...) Yes vote anway.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Liked it a lot. But I think the last world lost my interest a bit. Maybe it's just the autoscrollers that do that. Still, yes vote for 7/8ths of it being awesome.

This was a very entertaining run. I really liked how you managed the shell kicking in 5th level of 1st World, and most levels in the Giant World. Though the by far greatest moment was the unlimited shell (and 1-up) jumping in the 2nd level of Ice World. This one was just a killer. I also liked the extensive use of this rare special characters like the Hammer Mario, Frog etc. and how you pwned bosses with them, especially the poor Bowser. Although this run doesn't aim for speed once again, it looked very fast paced and just generally more entertaining than your SMW run for me (although SMW had more glitches to show for that). I enjoyed this run thoroughly and therefore can only give this a YES vote. Well done Genisto.

I've always been a fan of Mario Speedruns. Many people hated left+right, but watching the movie I liked it. Yes is my vote.

Yeah alright. Half-weak yes vote. It started off amazingly with the mushroom house and stuff, and then got weaker, but I was still entertained enough to probably watch this again.

LOL WUT. 6-2 is just about deserving of its own AVI. XD *kicks the now-battered shell into the "yes" voting block*

THAT WAS AWESOME. The red shell.. lmao. I love the levels with the giant shells and you just speed through it running back wards. -I like the way you "killed" the flames with that statue move. -How you moved around the fish with the frog costume. -Can't remember but I think it was level 3 on the ice world that I really enjoyed. Definitely gets my approval!
